  • who the fuck plays music well a player is lying on the ice could of been dead.. why the hell did the arena play music?!

  • @1996HockeyMan

I'd agree with you man, the music wasn't very classy but at least it wasn't fast paced rock or anything.

  • This was a scary moment. I was holding my breath the entire time.

Love the sportsmanship by Maltby and May. Hard to see all the Canucks' faces after he hit the boards.

He's such a warrior, love you Johnny <3

  • Ryan Johnson is similar looking than my ex-neighbour(Juha Pajukoski).

    Ryan "Pillow/squab-cereals rice crispies" Johnson

  • :15 just broke my heart .. we didnt see that feed here in vancouver so when i saw this for the first time on youtube i cried .. seeing willie so worried like that to where he actually says oh my god , its heartbreaking .. im so glad johnny was okay , this was so scary as it was happening .

  • dose someone knows something about Ryan Johnson after injury ,i mean in what condition is he..??

  • he played tonight against the wild so i assume he's good to go

  • Nice to hear that.... Thanks on the information buddy ;)

  • not a problem. glad to see someone with nice manners on youtube :)

  • hahahha ,thank's ;)))) i am happy that he is fine .... and thank you again ;))))

  • Anyone else catch the typo at 3:01?

    Ryan Rypien? Rick?

  • yeah,injuries aren't cool!

  • Look at Brad May check him out right away. Even taking his gloves off. Good man.

  • Weird seeing May do that isn't it?

  • Nothing weird about it. Always thought May was good guy and this reinforces it.

  • no, any player would have done that in that situation

  • Hey assholes, he could have broken his f-in neck, show some respect. If you followed Ryan you'd realize how many shots he's blocked in his career and how many times he's played regardless of being injured.

Totally not funny; you guys are pathetic.

  • Dang Canucks!

  • hope hes ok

  • LOL!

  • bitch

  • i lol'd

  • yeah, you would, american right? wait don't answer that

  • U Retard, first of all he lost his balance, any if u knew anything about anything u would realize how hard it is to brace urself when going at top speed AND falling. Know the facts before you say anything

  • lol u mad

  • Kudos to Maltby for the quick concern. Johnson could have broken his neck, easy.

  • BAM!

  • Dude the canucks are like my team we have played half of the season and we havent had a full bench yet 3 D's half the time

  • Dang =/

  • brad may from detroit is such a great guy, he dropps his gloves and goes to see if johnsons okay...beatiful

  • knocked the fuck out :(

  • Comment removed

  • Its Ryan Johnson, he durable as all hell ! he will be back in the line up in a few days. We are just luckey it wasnt one of the Sedins or they would still be picking up all the peices !!

  • Yeahhh since the Sedins are so fragile right? They've missed 24 games combined before Daniel's broken ankle in 8 seasons...they're pretty damn durable

  • he knows how to skate. he was skating so fast he couldnt get his balance back. dont ever tell someone in the NHL to learn to skate. especially when you arent the one who can do it well enough to be on tv.

  • are yu in the N? didnt think so

  • how many times does the canucks get a fucking injury? shit.

  • i work at GM Place Arena and when i saw this, i was like..

    DAYYYYYUUUUMMM!

  • your a goof your mommy still make your lucnh fag

  • rag dolled :/

  • I had to rewind on my pvr and watch it in slow motion and my conclusion was that it was painfull!

  • Lol! As bad as I feel for the guy, I couldn't help but laugh when I saw him lose control of his own legs. Poor guy though that's gotta hurt. Hope he feels better. If you're a hockey player, chances you've experienced something like this before

  • the main thing that made this happen is the fact that he lost his step. lidstrom seems to make him trip but if you look carefully you can see that johson lost his step after he passes lidstrom.

does anyone knows how hes doing?

  • He's doing good. CT scan came back negative. He's moving. This is from the article.....Everything seems to be good, said Alain Vigneault on Johnsons status. If it was up to him he would have practiced today and hed be flying with us, but obviously were going to be on the precautionary side and see how he feels in the next couple of days. So he's doing good. No doubt he's sore.

  • seriously you're an asshole

  • Poor bastard. Took that shit hard

  • not a fuckin ref is right in there--as they are instructed-, they hide and try and see if a skirmish will break out--when these fuckin pussies should be right in their checking this players vitals !!!

  • You think the refs are supposed to be in there giving medical attention to the players!?

  • that was freaky towatch.

    get well soon everyone :)

  • just to tell you it is rick rypien

  • fuckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

  • i hope he's ok

  • holy shit lots of guys are being taken off shretchers lately

  • wow 8 canucks down....

    COme back soon

  • Johnson is one tough SOB

  • damn he wanted the puck

  • The year of the stretchers or what?!? Wonder if cocaine sales are up too???

    Not trying to imply anything.....

  • damn....his right shoulder + head take it all

  • :15 - :18 broke my heart .. mitchell's reaction just crushed me .. and then seeing johnsons eyes like that .. thank god hes ok .. hopefully the results of the cat scans and all that is good .

  • They were. He even showed up to GM Place this morning wanting to skate but Vigneault advised him to take the day off.

    What a warrior.

  • really ? .. in the interview with AV he said at the hospital lastnight johnson said he was ok and wanted to play .. i thought they were making him stay overnight .. maybe i got it wrong

but either way yeah hes tough , hes our toughie =)

  • i was so scared when i saw this happen live lastnight

everyone in my house just went silent it was soo freaky .. i honestly thought he was paralyzed or something or had a neck injury when his hand was all curled like that and he was bent after he went down .. thank god hes ok .. hopefully he'll take the time he needs and not rush back into this .. <3 #10 RJ

  • Classy reaction by the Detroit players. As a Blues fan, these are my two least favorite franchises in the NHL. But when something like this happens, especially to a hard working player like RJ who gives an honest effort every night, it's a shame. Get well soon RJ.

  • Classy reaction by a Blues fan. Coming from a Canucks Fan.

  • It was Brad May who dropped his gloves and stick and went over first to see if Johnson was ok...I guess his concern comes from formerly being a Canuck but that is what sportsmanship is about in my opinion...May is a good guy for doing that.

  • One of the Wings came to check on him, showing some kind of respect and the other idiot pushed him back, like he was going to punch him or something.Stupid ass

  • this must hurt hope Johnson will recover fast ... I always say to my friend, Detroit have a kind of sportman mentality and now i have a really good example for me ....

Kirk Maltby is a great man ...

  • good on maltby to stay there and call for medical attention. thats class.

  • Boy, that was ugly. Hope he's better.

  • Before the rules were changed defensemen were allowed to hold and hook players a bit and thet slowed them down and this kind of stuff didn't happen as much. As many people have said, Lids doesn't even make contact with Johnson. He tried to cut around Lidstrom, lost an edge and his own speed took him into the boards. You'd have to have just started watching hockey yesterday to not know Lids isn't a dirty kind of player.

  • Yahoo! is saying that he fine. The only good news about this is that right after the hit his arms were elevated and he was half trying to get up. If he had cracked a vertebra and was paralyzed his body would have been completely limp. But, hes okay. No fault to Lindstrom.

  • expect these things to happen more and more,,game is faster, players are bigger, no matter how much padding you wear, it still hurts.

  • It's amazing that doesn't happen more often, that was scary. I hope he's back on the ice soon.

  • The boards moved cuz Glass took a hit (not Ryan), thats why he was on his knees.

  • Rypien's first name is Rick not Ryan....

  • Respect to Maltby and May for trying to help him as soon as they saw what happened. Great to see the concern they have for a fellow professional. Get better soon Ryan.

  • yeah I like that too

  • Get well soon Ryan, props to Maltby and May.

  • god forbid someone say something bad about lidstrom

  • That person would seriously be an idiot, I just hope its not a Canuck fan

  • Don't be stupid. Lidstrom didn't even make contact. He stuck his hip out and Johnson avoided it causing him to lose his balance and go into the boards. It was not intentional.

  • lidstrom doesn't even make contact it's not his fault at all. johnson was probably EXPECTING contact and i think that might of been what threw him off. hope he's back soon

  • no way. you are dead wrong. yes, lidstrom is going to try and get in his way every time but right at the end he actually pulls his right leg back so that he doesn't trip johnson up. watch it again. johnson's a fast skater and simply lost control. i don't know what is wrong with you people that always have to blame someone.

  • fsushithead, you might have missed the point here. The announcer, Larry Murphy (look him up) did not say that in the old days Lidstrom could have taken his head off. And he did not stick his leg out to trip Johnson, he was maintaining position on him. once ge saw that Johnson was going to beat him, he let him go.

What happened was Johnson put too much into getting position, and lost an edge.

it is difficult to beat Lidstrom, this is evidence.

great job making an ass of yourslf.

  • this is 3rd guy or so that has been stretchered off the ice this week, geez been a bad week for players

  • they said he went to the hospital :(

  • He stuck his right arm out right before he hit the boards. May have saved his life there, because if he hit the boards at that speed head first, it could have been really really bad.

  • holy shit that looks nasty...

pretty classy of maltby to get the attention of the refs and brad may to try and help johnson

  • I noticed that too. First two players to reach Johnson were Maltby and another Wing. You know it's bad when players on defence stop watching the puck to tend to a downed opponent.

  • at first i read your comment as "its bad they stopped to help" but i guess you mean that the injury is bad lol.

ya it's pretty classy of the red wings to do that

  • Heh...Sorry. "You 'ave to hunnertan' habout hEnglish in Quebec, eh." :-)

  • What the fuck are you talking about ?

  • I was making fun of my failure to communicate properly in English.

  • hahah naa man my english if fine lol.

    better then my french actually

    hehe

  • The sad thing is "Nedzorz1", I can say with absolute certainty you're a virgin by how nerdy your name is. Get back to WoW, hockey definitely isn't your thing... Your hot pockets are probably getting cold by the way.

  • lol well said bro

  • uhhhhh. Whatever.

  • the other red wing was brad may

  • hope ryan johnson is ok.. it was nice of #18 i think maltby to get refs attention and brad may to actually try and help johnson

  • ya i heard hes gonna be ok as well

  • They said he was awake but they did take him to the hospital, they also said it wasn't serious.

  • Glad to hear it.

  • Hope it's nothing serious but man that looked nasty.

  • good thing he had a helmet... hope hes okay

  • adding sports net video also soon
