I first saw her at a mardi gras ball about 8 or 9 years ago. No one knew Amanda Shaw from the man in the moon. She couldn't have been older than 12. She put on an amazing one (wo)man show even then. She's incredibly talented with that bow.

I went to the ELCA National Youth Gathering, in New Orleans, LA. There she played a few songs and spoke about the wetlands surrounding New Orleans.

She was one of the few speakers I actually enjoyed listening to. Though I contribute it more to her playing than her speaking.

I've been a fan of Amanda Shaw since I first saw her two years ago, when she was just 14. She LEADS that band of "old" guys! I just saw her this week at the French Quarter Festival in New Orleans, and she was excellent. She was just signed to Rounder Records, by the way, and has a CD in production.

i love cajun music too. And I am not cajun. You do not have to be cajun to like or to play cajun music. And to those of you who like her you should check out the imax movie Hurricaines in the Bayou. She's ver good in it. The movie is about saving the wetlands but it has some nice tunes in it also.

ummm... pretty good but it is not authentic cajun. sorry. fiddle is way too overpowering. the music should blend. you need an acordian in there too to spice it up. but good for florida i guess. but, laissez les bons temps rouler!

Uh, she's not from Florida, that's just where the video was taken. She's from Louisiana. I can't swear to it but I think I read that she is of Cajun descent. Not all Cajun music has an accordion either. Most Zydeco does however, different genres. But I also wouldn't call her music "authentic" in that some of it has a strong rock element. This song however is a tradional Cajun number and yes, her fiddle is out front because she is the star of the act.

hmmmmm.... ok i can understand it if she i the star of the show. but yeah it does have bit of a rock influence. i am from louisiana too, so i know what real cajun music and zydeco is. and as for being cajun, she kind of looks asian to me. might be the bad quality of the video, but thats how she looks to me. but anyways, its ok i guess.

Ya but you know what? Original Acadian (cajun) music was only fiddle and some other instrument i can't remember right now maybe guitar, anyway. Accordians weren't added to the music until the germans came to Louisiana.
