  • Hey! Where is from that pickguard? I'm wanting to get one for my Viper too, but i don't know does Gibson's or Epi's pickguards fit well?

  • @LicensetoKillme ... it's custom made. Gibson pickguard wont fit. Good Luck!

  • Would the behringer u used be good for slipknot stuff?

  • @halofan1945 ...probably. For older stuff. With good setup of course.

  • chuggin!

  • whats teh difference between live wires, and blackout pcikups?

  • @teamSKDM Regular Blackout has less output, less mids and more treble than Live wire metal

  • @galic131 well whats more preferable, emg's active pickups, or duncan live wires? i play melodic deathcore, so what sould be the best for sweeping,l taht would really bring the notes out, and make them clear and not gritty. just really clear and clean. and that sound more solid.

  • Beautyfull fat sound!!! great

  • hi do you still have the wiring diagram for this pickup?

  • @jungleecho ... its a most simple one humbucker, one volume scheme. You can download it from seymour dancan's website.

  • @alekke thanks I couldnt find it there the other day i'll check again.

  • @jungleecho ...just google seymout duncan and you'll see their wiring diagrams link

  • It sounds incredible. djented crunch..

  • sick amp it has an inherent d jentyness that even comes through all that percussive midrange you got going on there......no doubt you will be the loudest instrument in a band setup....

  • these pickups rule.a million times better than emgs.but the only draw back their only made for 3 genres of music thrash, black, blackend death

  • Is this a Gator Rack?

  • yes

  • what do you think of the livewire's? im looking into new pickups for my ibanez rg370dx. any recomendations. i hate to have a single coil in it too.

  • Livewires are fine. It depends on an amp you use. They are now called Blackouts metal and have 2 stages of output. If you are not sure bout the sound you want, better stick to classics like EMG, regular Blackouts, JB or SH-5 or 6.

    My recommendation: Bareknuckle or Lundgren.

  • this isn't entirely true...check Seymour Duncan's website, the Blackout EQ internal setting are 8 / 5 / 6 (Treb / Mid / Bass). Where the Live Wire is 5 / 9 / 7 (Treb / Mid / Bass) and the Mustaine Live Wire are 8 / 6 / 5 (Treb / Mid / Bass). Live Wire Metal has more Bass and Mids, Blackouts have alot more Highs and medium bass. If your amp settings are typically around 6 bass, 7-9 highs and 4-5 mids you'd want Blackouts. If you want more of that midrange bite get LiveWire.

  • check again. I said that Livewires metal are now called Blackout METAL. -- not just blackouts like you said. "Updated, redesigned, and re-launched version of LiveWires Metal humbucker with new preamp, new voicing, and ability to switch between output levels"

  • @alekke 'Blackouts metal' is a different pickup than 'Livewires metal' but is meant to replace 'livewires metal' so yeah- exactly, I get what you are saying...

  • I second that recommendation on BKP or lundgren

  • @otherrandomhero I love BareKnucklePickups Warpig models, Lundgrens are great with the right amp settings Oh yeah better get the amp settings good for the others...I also love Seymour Duncan's HeavyMetalLivewires!

  • awesome settings!

  • Oooo - nice riffage \m/

I'm doing a 4 in one for my Strat ( I'm using a Strat because the parts are so easy to get hold of)

It'll have one of these, a Blackouts Metal and a pair of GuitarHeads Active humbuckers in it.

    Going to be a beast.

Thanks for showing me what I can look forward to :D

  • Congratz! ;)

  • Excellent playing, excellent preamp. I just bought mine and it rips. /,,/

  • I've compared the LW-HMET Livewire to EMG 81 and LW-HMET is better In my opinion. However I have to lower my Vol just a bit and tone just a bit while on the EMG 81 I blast them to get a maximun to good distortion. I want to see how the Blackouts sound. I have yet to fully test that one out.

  • ur palm muting sounds so scratchy r u trying 2 make it sound percussive or is that just ur natural sound?

  • I think that is called "djent". It has something to do with a playing style but characteristic of the amp and pickup are surely involved, so I think answer is yes partially , I'm trying to sound that way.

  • @alekke I don't really like the sound of normal palm muting. everything sounds do much cleaner and heavier when you palm mute percussively like that. thats why so many metal bands sound like crap live i think. percussive palm muting is the way to go

  • @alekke-- no it doesn't sound very 'djenty' you need slightly less uppermids ...U sound slightly too crunchy ...try putting an E906 mic to record it or put your ear at the same level as the speaker when tweaking your sound...try a half a point more bass a slight presence increase or treble decrease a touch less mids on the high end

  • @7REDDRACO7 no, I'm fine thank you. I play M7 now, much more clarity and definition. I love slight boost in upper mids. LW metal is like playing hi gain amp through OD808 but with lowered tone pot. I'm into brighter settings now. This video is just to hear how it could sound, not to use it as a reference. It's a matter of taste.

  • @alekke

Well don't get me wrong you described a sound, the word 'djenty' I am telling you the perscription for that exact description...I understand tastes lad, I merely stated the formula for a true d jented sound but you have one as well I am just letting you know where the roots came from...that amp kills and has an inherent djent built in. Yes yes your fine i'm fine we are all Fine but I did not ask...

  • @7REDDRACO7 ofcourse! I was thinking on something else ... cheers!

  • i have the issue with my pickup lw hmet but i drop my tone down just a little and it takes away that scatchy sound. I really never noticed it until you pointed it out.

  • nice video dude

  • i own a 530 :D

one question ... in thsi video do u use the higain button activated? or u just use it at a hi (normal) gain level ...

  • lead channel hi gain

  • Livewire clip sounds clearer than EMG81 clip, IMO. Great preamp!

  • jel ta gitara možda prodana u županji???

  • Mislim da je! I da ju lik prodaje dalje. Ona je i svirana u županji na koncertu!

  • bolesnoooo...ma PREbolesno

  • amazing tone!

does the e530 need the extra eq to sound good though?

  • it depends on the poweramp. Mesa or VHT probably dont need one.

  • how is the dbx 215? i want to use it with my peavey 6505+ head/line 6 cab/ and bbe sonic maximizer. would it work?

  • Ofcourse it would work. As long as you dont plug your guitar directly to it. It works with line levels.

  • Amazing sound.

  • great sound, I think personally those Livewires are the best pickups for metal.

  • nice

  • Great sound. What kind of racks are those from top to bottom? Thanks.

  • those exact are korg 1000 I think, ENGL E530, DBX 215, Rocktron Super C and ENGL 840

  • That tone is fucking insane! I love that kind of mid range :D

  • don't listen to all these gain freaks who just

    want the highest distortion possible.

You don't need all the distortion you can get, real players don't have the gain turned up to 11.

Anyways, sweet playing, I love that mid range punch, and I'm getting a 350 myself pretty soon.

  • dude say that he had more gain please !:P

  • well, sounds good for that music...but think!

only heard...is a continue mastubate with a Low

string, all the time, I understand that is not easy, but just listen.Good life.

  • I like it that way, so I don't care.

  • Is this the setup you are using for the songs on the myspace page?

  • unfortunately no. Only this viper but with emg81

  • Wow awesome tone, never have i heard a metal tone like that with so much mids. Is it the livewires, i heard they were very middy? I'm about to get a dean custom guitar with 'em in it and hopefully i can get that sound through my triple xxx.

  • Yup, livewires are middy as hell, little muddy in the hi end but fat as pup can be!

I think they'll get along with XXX perfect cause those peaveyes are dying for a boost! Unlike engls which have enough balls already.

  • Yeah i use a bad monkey as my boost right now, and maybe with the livewires i won't have too lol!

  • is that preamp nice for a more vintage sound? like more blues or jazz tone...or like vinnie moore sound?

  • dont know that man, you'll have to check that with guitarguylp. he has some nice guitar clips.

  • I assume the sound changes depending on how long you have the tubes on?

    Does it degrade or something?

  • No, I didn't noticed. I have quality JJ tubes in it and I can play for two hours with the same sound.

  • then why do you post that the preamp has 'gain on 10hours'?

  • I don't know what you mean, but I was saying that gain knob is on 10hours like in between quarter and half. (amount of gain)

  • LOL omg my bad! I thought you meant that the preamp had been switched on for 10 hrs jaja

  • what song man?

  • Those R my ideas. I play them with my band E.N.D.

  • i notice that you had the hush spaced in between the preamp and the poweramp....do you run the hush from the output of the 530 and into the power, or through the fx loop? I love that tone BTW, i'm actually bidding on one right now.

  • this was taken with the hush in series just after the preamp and eq.

But I now connect it in preamp loop via instrument output. Much effective this way!

  • VIDE MOGA GRAFCARA AL DERE

  • What tuning is this?

  • B regular.

  • This Video just answered the question if these pickups can do saturated gain. FUCK YES!!

  • Wow those mids really are in ur face. How would you compare this to another active pu like the EMG 81?

  • search the posts from before in this video and in the EMG81 one. There are lots of info about the pups and setups.

  • I just bought this pickup (LW HMET) but I'm having trouble installing it. I know how to install them but I can get the wires to stick to the pots. Do you add hella solder on the pot or do you put solder on the wire and than stick it the pot. Do you know what I'm talking about? I'm stuck on the part where you're supposed to solder the Bare wire to the volume pot. I havn't even started on the tone.

  • You'll have to abrade the surface of the pot a little. Then put the tin on the soldetron, and soldering grease on the wire. That should do the job.

  • I really like the sound of those pickups, Im getting the new blackout versions of them. I hope they sound just as good if not better.

  • I love that "cutting" mid sound. I can't stand amps that have a bassy muddy attack. The cutting mid rules. And that is a hell of alot of gain for the "10 oclock" position. I am getting my e530 next tuesday!

  • I want to buy that pickup but I have EMG 85's as well. Is it possible to use both at the same time? If not. What about SD LW HMET and another passive?

  • Of course! Your EMG85 will sound even better on 18V voltage! More headroom, more transients! But

if you combine passives with actives you must pay attention on pot resistance and the fact that combo of two will not work properly.

  • Thanks. Your info is very helpful. So if I were to mix in the EMG 85 and SD HMET, I'd only need two 9volts to make them work or 3 9volts? How would that work?

  • 2x9volts! Both pickups work on the same power supply! You have all the schemes you need on emg and SD websites.

  • haha Yeah I wired my 81 with the 18V mod just by itself

  • AMAZING metal tonez!!! LOVE it!

  • Damn, ENGL 530 is great, perfect sound, dude!

Which pickup has got higher output? EMG 81(9 v) or SD LiveWire Metal?

  • Livewire is the hottest m.f. in this part of the universe!

No clean sounds what so ever!

Even though on randall rh150 can sound little clearer than on engl.

  • Good fucking hell, those pickups are....HOLY SHIT!!!

Great mid-range response, and not shitty mids, but the good, necessary mids needed to cut through. What pickups did you use before and how extreme was the difference? How would you compare these to Duncan Distortion SM-6's, Invaders, or Blackouts??? Thanks in advance for the info, I'm looking to buy these. Can you do a video where you go into more depth about these pickups? Killer fucking playing, too bro!!! 5 stars!!!

  • I was an EMG81 user for a long time and I needed a change. U can hear the difference on my other clip. I didnt try the SH-6, Invaders or blackouts but it is far from SH-4 what I now use moded. Rewounded SH-4 has more clarity.

Livewire metal is no longer in production, you can now found the Blackout metal which is the same as Livewire only with jumper for output regulation which is AWESOME cause Livewire has THE tone only too much output for amps like Engl!

  • dude...fucking perfect tone. Im thinkin of buyin this preamp, and i think youve just sold me. I play alot of metalcore stuff, and that tone is exactly what i need! Im gonna be lookin at a maxon OD808 screamer clone (although maxon made the original screamers so its not a clone), anyone got any thoughts on this pedal? cheers.

  • the 81 sounds clearer for this sort of riffing, but then again, i wouldent say this is that heavy compared to other metal styles.

that baritone sound clip sounds lovely.

  • Wrong, he's just using a agathis guitar, thus it sounds muddy.

  • thats my opinion, so im not wrong.

    agathis isnt that bad.

    what about plywood danelectro guitars?

not even solid wood, and they arent muddy.

    loads of bands use them.

  • Agathis is horrible, its sounds and resonates like shit.

  • thats the camera

  • it sounds muddier mostly because of the pickup.

Livewire is much darker than emg81 and I didnt touch the equalizer on engl after changing guitars from baritone to viper.

  • HEY ALEKKE dont be a nervous!! all question here are that you created good sound and good riifs...greetings and thanks for asnwer..

  • no it wasn't in a bad way! I updated description with that info today, so I wasnt cursing he he!

  • HEHE so ..everythink is ok..Please write..how is in this preamp engl 530 in recordin on computer? HOw is his simulation full or need somethinf speaker red box for example? greetings

  • hello alekke.. very good sound. I have one question..how is much gain on this movie? maximum or maybe half? please write..greetngs..

  • damn, I thought I wrote that too.

Gain on this one is on 10hours!

    cheers!

  • this sd metal was built for just 1 thing: immense output that even emgs cannot reach, it rocks(it metals)but the output is so much that u cannot get clean sounds from it the clean channel becomes an overdrive channel

  • thats why if you want clean sound you use a neck pickup thats not a livewire metal. i run an emg85 in the neck with a livewire metal in the bridge. both on 18volts.

  • I love it, it's almost got a Mesa Mark IV quality to it.

  • What is your poweramp? I use E920 with Soldano SP77.

  • this one was played on E840

  • opa, presmišno sasvim slučajno naletia na hrvate! pozdrav :)

  • i to još zadrane!!! u jebote :)

  • a little edit: HMET has less highs than EMG, but after EMG recording, equalization remained the same so you may found HMET a little muddy

  • so which pup you think sound better the emg81 or livewire metal? I'm looking to get a hmet.

  • It depens on many other factors. Long story short - EMG cuts thorough little better but sounds sterile, HMET has wormth and more punch but hell-of-a-output!

  • daj jel bi te smio zamolit nesto !!!

    daj mi taboveeee

    pls !!!

predobro zvuci, pogotovo ono sa EMG- ima

  • so which pup you think sound better the emg81 or livewire metal? I'm looking to get a hmet.

  • very good!!!

  • sad bi ti sve moje riffove skida ... doduše nisu svi moji al svejedno :-P

  • jeboga ti što prtljaš sav se ja izgubi u tome :D

  • Pakao DA!
