@zizifromthesky The person in your recording probably doesn't have big enough hands. It's quite difficult to play that chord without ridiculously long fingers.
Deeply moving. Timeless. Haunting. To be played after the sadness of No. 4, urging us, as the tears evaporate, to embrace the truth that life goes on.
Understatement...a lost dialogue between artist and audience. I appreciate the clarity and expression of the pianist, and his humility in allowing the piece to express itself instead of his own virtuosity.
It's the little things that make me LOVE this. At 0:47, the way he plays that monster chord so softly makes me hold my breath. Also, I agree with TheGabcat and Wilgudmunsson - this piece is at its best when it's a played little slower.
@fluidstatic yeahh, i thought he was going to go all out with that chord, like i usually hear it played, but it was a nice surprise hearing it played softly :) :)
@rodserling91 Yeah, "Mr. Monk Buys a House" is one of the best uses of this song. Let's not forget how this was the music that caused Monk to move into a house that turned out to be a money pit.
@gwizvideo If memory serves, you were sitting in the Titanic's Café Parisien at night, having a conversation. But I think it was used in a few other places as well, like upper-class rooms and such.
@podknocker1 omg yes! I was thinking exactly that when I stumbled upon this! I was like "Hey! That was featured in that Titanic game I remember playing!"

In my opinion, that was a perfect interpretation. I loathe the people who play this too quickly.

@fluidstatic Agreed. It's the best version on YouTube by far. I am going to copy this interpretation when I complete this. :-)

People make this too slow. It's a Polish dance. Beautiful nonetheless.
1Lisztener1 1 year ago
@1Lisztener1 Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought Preludes were a small indivisual piece not a dance? Wouldn't a Polish dance be Polonaise?
Elisaranna 1 year ago
@Elisaranna It's called 'Polish Dance' :P I suppose its up to the interpreter.
