This kind of trick is has been well over done. "Is this what you were expecting?"... They make a title that tells us that a "schizophrenic" man "terrorized" a group of kids. Well, They said "terrorized", so yes, I expected "terrorized". Am I supposed to feel guilty now? The left has used that BS trick for years. The headline should have said "entertained". they should feel guilty for lying.
If someone is very scared they tend to look scary, schizophrenia can be very scary, and mania can make you feel invincible. No wonder we get beaten up more than the average person. Love the film, there NEED's to be more beds in hostpital for heroin and drink addicts as well as people who are going mad.
@Ianseymour it just pissed me off this vid because he is only good because he belives the pill or med he take work i have meet alot of schizophrenics over the years and most are nice people but there are the odd one that is Violent and for the most part it is them that are Violent and has nothing to do with there schizophrenia
My biggest concern with all of these info films is they all end with the similar "don't judge us..we're human just like you..sniff sniff" comments.
Sad when people with mental health issues feel the need to take that apologetic tone about their condition when addressing a population of intellectually stunted f***tards.
All too often people with mental illness are treated as if they are evil or commited some crime. Its made fun of by popular culture all the time. You loose your job if your co-workers suspect you have a problem. So many people are apathetic ignorant chickenshits.
Love it.. this is something that many people dont know.. not all people with mental illness want to do bad things.. and or hurt people.. very good message.. love it..
People with mental illness are statistically more likely to be the victims of crime, than the perpetrators. I think this is a nice video, but you should consider giving it another title. It just feeds into the very thing you are trying to combat, and "schizophrenic man" is demeaning. We don't refer to people with cancer as "Cancerous man." You'd say, "The man with cancer." Why not, "The man who has schizophrenia." I have bipolar disorder but I don't call myself Manic Depressive Chick.
you really think calling the video "the man who has schizophrenia terrifies children" would make it any better? if he's not offended by it why would anybody else be
@cornflkgrl You certainly have the right to your opinions, but none of those titles are demeaning or insensitive. If you prefer for your condition to be called Bipolar Disorder, then I will oblige you. Manic-Depression, however, remains an accurate name for the illness and is frequently used by authorities on the subject sucha s Kay Redfield Jamison. In fact, she most commonly calls bipolar disorder simply 'madness.' It only feeds the problem when no one is being educated about the issue.
@cornflkgrl It's different in the UK than it is in the US, American people generally like "person with a disability" and people in the UK like "disabled person," and so on.

Lame... post a fucked up video and then try to make a good thing out of it? are you crazy? you should really get a life and have at least a bit of good taste even though i doubt you can do it, cause i see your intelligence doesnt go that far.. practice and perhaps someday you can post a good video as a good comment mean while stay the fuck out of my way... i dont wanna hear from you got that? good.!!!
That's stuart baker brown, he wants to be the first schizophrenic to climb everest, but sadly nobody seems to want to front the funds for it except a few sponsors but not enough to pay for the exspensive expedition.
I've never met someone with schizophrenia before I'm merely studying it in psychology. And this video was actually a great example of how people judge schizophrenics because it does affect people in many different ways. And obviously the man in the video is one of the 2/3 that manage to recover from schizophrenia. When I showed this in class it got the exact reaction he intended so fair play. Quite clearly NOT a waste of time!
exactly. I myself am deteriorating at quite a pace, it's a thing you don't *realize* is even wrong at all. It's just you being odd and in a mood at first till you stop and realize quite how wrong so much has been all along...yet people don't notice till quite a bit after it seems, I'm entirely normal
@MrScouse91 We don't know whether this man is "recovered" from schizophrenia or not, he may still have a lot of symptoms. On the other hand he may be recovered. But he could still be someone who's very severely affected by illness, but is still not violent and can still be good with kids.
I'm responding to your comment just because I think it's important to remember that even people who are severely affected, and don't recover, often still don't fit the violent stereotype.
@steveisgood It didn't "outsmart" you, it deceived you. An honest title would have been," a man with treated or managed schizophrenia entertains a group of kids at a party". Instead it tells you children are in danger and then makes you feel shame for "judging" the dangerous person. It's aim is to separate you from your common sense. Common sense tells one one doesn't leave an untreated schizophrenic with small children that are at his mercy. That is common sense, no need to feel shame.
@Indygoguy Schizophrenia doesn't increase someone's chances of being violent as much as you think. So seeing the word schizophrenia and assuming danger is not common sense.
@gorramdoll As much as? Well how much danger do you think is acceptable to put children in? What an idiotic line of reasoning and what a horrible parent you either are or will make.
@Indygoguy I think someone who is prejudiced against disabled people is pretty likely to be a bad parent, so I'm sorry for your kids.
What I was saying is not that people with schizophrenia are more likely to be violent IN GENERAL. I was saying that a few people have symptoms that cause violence, but most don't. And it's not like any schizophrenic person can randomly be violent, if they weren't before. So there's no reason to assume danger solely on the basis of the word schizophrenia.
heh I actually watched this video wondering if it was going to be someone that I know that has at times terrified kids. He sometimes scares me. I don't know how effective the video is or whatever but I thought it was pretty funny.
Labelling someone who worries about their children being cared for by someone who has been diagnosed with a mental illness as being discriminatory is, at best, irresponsible. There is indeed discrimination directed towards such people that needs to be stopped but to ignore that some stigma (although I would use the words 'legitimate' & 'concern') is not, in anyway, constructive.
this video and £20 miilion project imply the general public blindly discriminates against people with mh issues like me they're offered by wealthy compromised mh charity service provider businesses that decide with government to loftilly speak on our behalf and then have a panel of psychiatrists evaluate and validate this patronising nonsense .
how does handing £20 million to greedy charity executives and shrinks to insult the public help us?
You could make your own videos about stigma that would help "us," instead of leaving negative comments. Criticizing "them" on behalf of "us" doesn't make anyone want to help "us" or feel any friendlier toward "us" socially.
Speaking as one of "us," I think this video rocks.
i support other people with mh issues as well as struggle to get by myself i co ran a small support charity and also helped others set up blogs and sites, a few of which got covered in the media.
as a lifelong mh service user most of the discrimination i've faced has come from the mh system and related charity businesses they offer very little practical help and support to people with mh issues but get most of the money the 'discriminating ' public donate
Um, the title is obviously deceptive so it's not like this video is exposing any bias. If the title was "Man in suit terrifies kids at party" I would expect to see a terrifying man in a suit. That doesn't make me biased against men in suits. Guilting and shaming people into caring, that always works..
A worthy campaign but the video reeks of government pc propaganda (ie youre all guilty of discrimination). Unsurprisingly, a campaign funded by central government.
But...I think, if you are again mental health discrimination...maybe these people should be condemned like other people if they hurt or kill someone?
