saw this concert campaign in the early 80's called "time".....They rocked the Broome County Arena then.....The cool thing was.....John Lennon had just been killed.....Jeff rewrote some songs to reflect John's death.....
He sang Strawberry Fields, and Fortunate Son by Creedence....Jeff tore up a tribute to John Lennon....great stuff!
I was 11 when this album came out, spent hours listening to it in my bedroom. I still absolutely love it and now my 17 year old son loves ELO. Timeless music, so much better than anything these days. Thank you so much for posting it, it takes me back 30 years
Hey ELO fans i am trying to get ELO elected in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. e-mail me at horsey1@new.rr.com and I will forward your signatures to the hall of fame on behalf of ELO. They deserve it don't you think? It isabout time someone did this for them.
@candychandelier Listen to the song "Julie Don't Live Here"...the lyrics describe our protagonist returning home to 1981, and trying the find/convince his girlfriend of his adventure to the future.
She of course, says it was nothing more than a dream.
Can anyone tell me what Jeff says starting at 3:55? i caught something about "from this day forward" and something about the world. It's bugged me ever since I got this album a few years ago.
In the Epilogue, the sound at the very end of this was sampled and used on "Cher's," believe song. It can be heard in the beginning of the intro to, "Belive."
I never understood that Hold on Tight was the first choice for single from the Time album. It´s not a bad song but it lacks the magic of ELO we have used to. The finale is though great.

What the hell.. One song Jeff Lynne has a Lennon-ish sound and now I swear he sounds a bit like Freddy Mercury.. Weeird..
Just found out about this album through some internet research.. The VPRO (a Dutch broadcasting company) uses Here Is The News as their tune..
It's a good album!

candychandelier, the song "When Time Stood Still" proves(to me,if not also others) that Jeff did return to his own time.
