Yeah, I remember too, my father had a lot of theyr recordings, I was listening to them all day... I dont remember why i did at these times, but I remember theyr music, I think that music fits my soul perfectly. Also Nirvana, but its different talk. I liked the covers, also i was fascinated by the "flying pig" as a kid. its sad so i will not be able to see them at some kind of concert, my dad tells stories when he was in theyr concert at moscow... Just amazing (sorry for bad english)

When I was little my Dad never let me touch his CD's, and he had the ENTIRE box set of Pink Floyd, including the book of info on the band. I always was interested in the cd cover art for this one ("Meddle"), so he put it on... and this is the first song on that CD. I was about five or six then, I'm 17 now, and this is still one of my favorite Pink Floyd songs... (My other favorites would probably be "On The Turning Away" and "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun").

It's about Syd Barrett, who had a childlike view of the world. As we know, Syd succumbed to insanity because of too much drugs and too sudden fame. So, his childlike view of the world and his innocence faded. It's sad, and we hear the longing for that lost mystical world in this song.

I like the gentle sound of the water at the beginning of the track. Sound effects such as the ones in this song and so many other Pink Floyd songs are what add a subtle touch of humanity and realism to their music, which is what makes them so much different from other groups and music styles.
