Hey Nickey. I am working your song right now on my radio show called the Fingersnaps Music Salon aired on 89.5 KPOO San Francisco Wednesdays 12mid to 3:00am. I miss her too. I miss those times as well.
Tracy came to my house in Queens and got me to come and hear this song. She and her band were in her basement playing the song. I will never forget this beautiful sister.
FUNKY! Thank goodness for things like Youtube, people can live on forever and music will never die. This is my first time hearing this and I'm sure many more people along the way will come across this gem.
I spent my teenage years with her niece on Long Island w/ her brothers daughter. They were both killed on that fateful day after shopping for her dress for her show. I remember the day & the call I was there...so sad to this day. We spent many nights at her place in Manhattan & she spent many days on Long Island teaching us how to be ladies...I will always credit her family with making me the strong woman I am today Rest In Peace Mr. Baker & Tracy you are both truly missed...always
Killed during an altercation including her boyfriend. The gunman was aiming for her brother, and killed her instead. Tragic, especially since the record became a hit during this time...
I was told she had such an exceptional talent that she could sing a track note perfect first time around after hearing it. Brilliant track. She could have done so much more. RIP Tracy.
Thank you so much for posting the song Tracey was one of my dearest friends and i still miss her so much. Her talent would have risen to the stars.Nicky Braddy co writer of of the song .
@nickybraddy My heart goes to you and to Ms. Weber's family for her untimely passing. I use to dance to this song at dance clubs via Studio 54, The Paradise Garage...You are blessed to have known & have had the opportunity to work with her.. ☺♫♪♫♪♥
@nickybraddy No doubt Tracey was talented and Just like Whitney houston, she was taken from us at such an early stage in her life. Any word on, (Karen Young)- Hot Shot, (Geraldine Hunt)- Can't fake the Feeling and (Jeanette "lady" Day)- Come let me love you?
This is classic NYC during the late 70s/early 80s golden era that was the incubator for most dance forms we have now-house, hip hop, electro, rap..even techno was influenced at the very beginning by NY tracks like Planet Rock.
@hardcorehouse That was a sick time. don't forget that punk rock emerged from the time as well. Unbelieviable how many types of music came that time period. My favorite time!
Tracey"Butter" Weber sung with Betty Davis' band{Miles Davis's wife} FUNKHOUSE with Carlton Morales[Julian Lennon's Vallotte} years prior to this.RIP Butter.
Thanks for this post. I had an instrumental version on a 12 inch with the excellent "One step at a time" Had given up hope of hearing this ever again. What fantastic singer Tracey was and how sad she died so young.

You can tell that this song had the same producer as Sharon Redd's "Beat The Street", Eric Matthew. Similar strings and bell chimes in both songs...
