Everybody who bashes the Nitro doesn't have all the facts, It's built on the Jeep Liberty Platform, GOOD. If you get the Manual Transmission it's the same transmission as the Jeep Wrangler Really GOOD. A dealership near my house got a lot of snow 2 winters ago. I watched them tow all the Dodge Rams out of the back lot with Nitros and Wranglers. Not lying at all it was hilarious to watch.

dodge nitro is basically a cheap copy cat of a Chevy Blazer, I used to own one, four door, 4x4 and she was perfect. this however, seems underpowered, lower suspension, and like everybody else is saying, is built more for snow on teh roads than a mud hole.

First off, let's get this straight. That's no real 4X4. It's got an ELECTRONIC transfer case without selectable gears. The only option is a PUSH BUTTON '4 Low'. And don't get me started on "Jeep" Liberties. The last real Jeeps were the WJ (second generation Grand Cherokee) and TJ (second generation Wrangler, descendent of the CJ models). Mopar has really fell off and these lame crossovers DO NOT belong off road. They're only good for some traction in the winter.

idk my nitro does really good in the mud i went further than a 90s model toyota tacoma 4x4 with 2 inch lift and a ford ranger 4x4 witha 2 and a 2001 dodge 1500 4x4 sitting on 32s and a 4 inch lift and thats true i didnt get stuck till i bottomed out

my dad has an 08, i think r/t model and even though it's a 4x4, i dont think it's made for stuff like this. it's more for going in stormy snowy weather or getting stuck on detours. not like a jeep. just look at the body kit on the r/t not enough ground clearance

get your facts straight the dodge nitro has 9.2 in of ground clearance and the jeep wrangier only has 8.8 in.

It by no means is made for offroading. This car sucks to say the least. Endless problems and horrible in town gas mileage. If I could get rid of it I would for what I am into it.

My wife and own an 07' R/T model and its been a great vehicle. She loves it and its been very reliable. But then, we don't beat the shit out of it like this either. Seams to me you made an impulse purchase and didn't research before you bought it. Or, maybe you just got a lemon. It happens now and then.

It isn't made for off-roading, as you might know. No skid plates, not enough ground clearance, independant front suspension (even though most jeeps have this).... approach and departure angles aren't optimal, because most people don't take their vehicles off-road. Unfortunately, it hasn't gotten very good reviews. Fuel economy, interior quality, and weight is what has hurt the Nitro.

Its only a piece of crap to people like you because you cant afford a real car, or any car for that matter. We have 5 Chrysler vehicles in our driveway. 2 2001's, 2 2007's and 1 2008. They were all designed and built by Americans. If you were a real American you would buy American made products too.
