my son has autism, hes 16 he can walk and talk do things himself, but finds it hard to socilasie and make freinds, and he cant cope in new situations or new places, it makes him cry, he can talk to people but finds it very hard. he speaks in a odd tone of voice. he can make it to the toilet on occasion but mainly when he wets and soils himself he remains obliviouse to it and doesent seem to notice or care. so we have to diaper him, sometimes he wont respond to his name, wat spectrum is he on?

Hi to everyone who has comented on this short video. I also have autisom and I'm very sadened by some of the crull things that serton people have sead hear. We maybe autistic, diffarent and difficult to be with sometimes. But we still need to love and be loved. Why do serton people say such hatefull things? Why wish a person to be put down just becouse there not like you are. I am glad I'm not as hatefull as your are. Even thow you have sead thise teribole things, I would never whish them on you

@RCMasterification He bites when he doesn't want you to stop him from hitting himself, which poses a real problem, since he's quite skilled in getting away from re-direction, etc...and he's extremely strong.

All we can do is take care of ourselves and our loved ones the best we can while sheltering them from hate-filled a*****es like some of the ones who left negative comments on here. I could only imagine the abuse that had to have happened for someone to turnout as soulless and empty to say things like that. I think these parents are real hero's in this world and show strength few could. People inflicted with autism deserve our help, love, and respect.

I have a 12 yo w/ severe autism. These ignorant bastards tht lve comments like that are cowards, and there is a special place in hell for them. I commend what U do, I go thru the same thing, and I guarantee tht these cowards wouldnt say that to your face, for they have a computr to hide behind.

Wow, I can't believe people are so mean. I am a Special Ed teacher, and what is most sad about having severe autism is how people who have "mild" autism truly do not know how bad it can get. What's even sadder is when these severe children are probably just so trapped in their brain and are not truly mentally retarded (yes, I said retarded in a non-judgemental factual way). Good job mom for taking care of your son the best you can. I wish I could find a way to help you with respite care!

@allenlesley66 5htp definately helps, but it's no cure for the SIB...it's just another adjunct to what will most likely be a life time of multiple strategies unless God does a miracle and cures him of SIB

i am so sorry for how people are commenting. i could only imagine how difficult it is taking care of an autistic child. He is a gift from God, no matter what anyone else says, and i wish your family the best. i have met with a few autistic children and young adults and they all are wonderful people and I know your son is too :)

I had the priviledge of working in mental healthcare for 5 years. Among the several hundred patients I worked with during that period a few were autistic.

There's nothing funny about someone who literally can't control thier self destructive behavior.

Also autistics don't start out like this, when they come into this world they pretty much look like any other baby.

He never attacks anyone or anything..only time U have to be careful is if he's punching self you might get clipped as he slams fists into his face...
