  • Click on my name and watch my short video on 'Common Sense Ethics'. And please, refute any of it if you can :-)

  • @sgapplebee I'm busy doing other things. If you have a pt of disagreement concerning me or my beliefs, feel free to type it in to an appropriate vid or msg me but I'm rather busy for weeks. I approved your vid response even though it seems like just an effort for you to pimp your book.

  • @TruthSurge

"Pimp" my book? It took 12 years of reseach and 7 years to write; if I was after money I sure as hell wouldn't admit up-front I was an atheist, now would I?

I really don't care what people believe, if they cannot refute my premises, then their beliefs are meaningless.

By the way, you do good work, but my stuff can take you even further :-)

  • @sgapplebee You post a vid response and what seemed a cut-n-paste message asking me (or perhaps anyone) to try and refute what you say. ? First, I don't know you OR what you have to say. Don't hand me a bunch of bullshit replies. You don't start up any conversation that way. You DO spam that way by not making your text personal. It's like people msging "funny vid! here's a site that...." yeah, WHICH vid did they watch? None. Actually, atheist books are hot now.

  • @TruthSurge

Perhaps YOU do, but I DO NOT "bullshit". I get the word out anyway I have to in order to wake the ignorant up. If you don't like what I post, don't read it. If you don't like my videos, don't watch them. If you don't like my book, don't read it.

As to atheist books being "hot", I have yet to see an atheist book that is "hot" on Ethics and Morality. If you know of one, I'd like to hear about it.

  • @sgapplebee The top 4 atheist writers on the planet now (Hitchens, Dawkins, Harris and Dennett) ALL write about ethics and morality as it relates to religion and in fact, Harris' latest book is called "The Moral Landscape" and it's ONLY about morals and how science can describe them from a "scientific" point of view. What cave have you been living in, sir?

  • @sgapplebee Mate trust me on this, "waking people up" isn't gonna get you anywhere. Manage your life and live it well... let them fight eachother shitless about flying spaghetti monsters and what not, it's not like you should be part of that nonsense should it? Either people accept you (as a rational non-biased person) or they can go F themselves really. By feeling any different about how they think about you you're only feeding the trolls and overall madness us rational people have to endure.

  • @sgapplebee Endure all day every day. Waking people up is what "9/11 truthers" and "holocaust deniers" do, and you see what that results in really... People hype up shit that is either irrelevant or plain wrong, ultimately in the name of reputation and acceptance .... hence bias, but subconcious maybe.

Anyhow, it's nice if people agree occasionaly but one can't really wake someone up who is essentially stuck in some sort of mind trap and closed for new data.

  • It reminds me of the infamous "Irony Meter", which often goes into overload (or explodes) when exposed to fundie-logic

  • @AtheistToothFairy In fact, we based the MM 2.0 on that basic engine. hehehhehe with a few tweaks, of course.

  • @TruthSurge

Maybe for MM 3.0, the user should get an electric ZAP when their morality doesn't measure up to "god's standards"?

  • @AtheistToothFairy There's already a MM 3.0. It enforces their morality based on a dial they set. hehehhe check it out. /watch?v=oNUu9GmpLJ0

  • This was awsome.

  • Yep, you're right. Voice is another one of your estimable talents. Did you take voice training or just develop it on your own?

My father had a terrific speaking voice. He got his vocal discipline from singing opera.

  • @Astrobrant2 thank ya. no, I just turn on the mic and go. I've always been creative and when I was really young like... 9 or so I had a Radio Shack tape recorder and mic. hahahha boy, with 3 cassette tapes I was set. I'd haul that thing around and talk into it and record people and animals. Make up fake interviews. I was doing all that at a very young age but never really was able to get into a place to do it for a living so it remained dormant for 30 years.

  • @Astrobrant2 then about 3 years ago I started sending auditions in on voices (d o t) com. Rough going but I figured why not? So, I've improved some in the last 3 years. Got a good mic now. Not the one I did this vid with.

  • I lol'd

  • @AtlanticSpamHammer thank ya

  • Hilarious!

Too bad you did not do all 10 questions, I bet that there would have been enough 'Moral guidance rules' in the bible.

  • @z3my4l thanks. ya, I just thought the vid would get old doing 10. I did another vid with "additional questions". it's on here.

  • Great Job! That was Hilarious!

  • @Pilotwing64 thanks

  • That freakin' Rocks!

  • @maarakailet1 thanks

  • Awesome video!

  • This Nobel prize-level invention will move humanity and civilization forward so much that we will eventually exit the middleages we live. You are a genius,Truthsurge!!!!!

  • @eat666shit I try. thanks

  • That is just perfectly awesome...

  • @ernobius thanks!

  • @TruthSurge I'm so sorry TruthSurge... I failed you... I'm still not moral enough in God's Great Moral Light...

  • @ernobius that's ok. none of us are. :)

  • Lol

  • LOL. Well made. I cant wait to read through the comments and see how the religious justify the insanity you point out from their insane book.

  • @happyidiottalk thanks. yeah, where there's a fundy, there's a way. hehe

  • This is probably the funniest thing i've seen all month.

  • @Strike2k2 thank ya!

  • I got a nice score, I killed the faggot :P

  • @Crossbowman Nice.

  • This was definitely well done. It seems that there are many that try to use logic when supporting their theism and of its perceived moral foundation. This vid kind of places their arguments into a new and fun perspective.

  • thanks! Yeah, it's easy to ridicule the ridiculous! :)

  • That was epic!

  • thanks!

  • This video is AWESOME.

I only wish that it had all 10 questions.

    SO FUNNY!

  • thanks!

  • God bless logic! hahah this is a work of art pal!

  • thank ye!

  • GREAT VIDEO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • thank ya

  • Hahaha brilliant video!

  • Thanks!

  • This video is full of win! Good job. People that believe in the god of the bible and preach their 'morality' only do so because they either don't read their own book or they do the good old, 'pick and choose' and select parts that they already agree with and ignore all the bad points that show their religion in a negative light. Hopefully more videos like this will show people what is really going on.

  • thanks!

  • Excellent video.

How good it is to see religion presented in such a comical way, comparable to its comical promises.

  • thanks! yeah, I tried to make it funny yet still true.

  • What the fuck is wrong with religious people.

  • brainwashed.

  • I think its alot deeper than that mate. Its some type of evolutionary trait.

  • I don't think so. If it is, nobody in Thailand has it. And those poor Japanese... they magically lost it. :)

  • Japan had shintoism and thailand had buddah. During ww2 the japanese worshiped their emperor as a god. Willing to die for him. You dont get much more religious than that.

  • Buddhism isn't really a religion of deity worship and Japan has tons of atheists. If it is genetic we'd see religious belief as ubiquitous, wouldn't you say? Just asking.

  • Buddhism may not be deity worship but it is a deep rooted irrational belief that governs a persons life. Oh but religious belief is ubiquitous. It takes many different forms. Ever heard of the "god spot" on the human brain. We are hard wired for religion.

  • I don't think you've read much on Buddhism. It is totally different from Christianity or Islam or Judaism.

But since you are well-convinced, I will not try to convince you otherwise. The fact that 99.9% of mankind USED to be religious and now it's more like 85% is probably meaningless. To me it signals a waking up from the dark indoctrination of young children into reality. It isn't genetic. It's handed down from father to son via indoctrination.

  • Look up the "god spot". Its the reason that otherwise rational people can be religious. Im a scientist by profession and work with christian and islamic colleagues. Our brains are hard wired for religion. It can take the form of superstitions, new age beliefs or even reading horoscopes. Its already been confirmed that their is a biological component to religious feelings. Its a evolutionary trait that some scientists argue is even present in chimps.

  • "Its the reason that otherwise rational people can be religious."

I completely disagree. So, what happened to MY god spot? Did it just dry up one day?

  • 4. I will provide you with some links to published papers in the biology journal of science direct if you want.

    5. Short of that I dont know what more I can do to prove to you that their is a biological component to religious thought.

    6. This is starting to remind me of arguments ive had with creationists, they dont accept scientific evidence either.

  • Right. So far, you've produced no evidence. Only assertions. Sorry, but a skeptic who's also an ex-Christian doesn't just buy whatever is told to them anymore. Please, put the links here in this vid if you don't mind. I'll definitely check them out. thanks.

  • 1. Cognitive and neural foundations of religious belief. Dimitrios Kapogiannis et al (2008). Published in the journal of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

    2. The role of the extrapersonal brain systems in religious activity. Fred H. Pervic (2006). Published in science direct.

3.Neuropsychological correlates of religious and delusional thinking. Dr Michael Persinger.

There are literally dozens of books on the subject.

  • Are these available online for free anywhere? I have no $ to invest in this and won't be driving to the big city even if they did have them (which I highly doubt in my area).

I still say it makes more sense to think that when you grow up and everyone around you believes myth A, you eventually can take it for granted that it is true and that has nothing to do with religion in particular. Just look at some old superstitions that most people don't believe NOW but did THEN.

  • You can view the abstracts online free which is a basic summary of the research. Ill have a look for free papers for you.

  • Mate I never said religion was completely biological, thats absurd. Of course its indoctrinated, hence I would be ex-muslim if born in the middle east instead of ex-christian. But religion can only be indoctrinated because of the way the human brain is wired. Humans arent 100% logical creatures, our brains arent as highly evolved as we think.

  • 1st grade is a form of indoctrination. The children are told truths and must accept them at face value until later grades where they can go back and use their newfound skills to discern if what they were told adds up. We trust. there is no "trust" part of the brain. It happens in school. In religion. In loaning $10 to a friend. There is no special religious part of the brain. But I'm sure those papers can explain all of this for me. If you find an actual link, please post here.

  • One more question... which of these have you read and which one paper/article would you say is the best if I had to pick one?

I know you'll just dismiss it but you realize that Ph.D.s have to write original stuff and many are scraping for ideas and just because it's in a journal doesn't mean that it's legit. It might just be a case of the data SEEMING to fit the facts and the wrong conclusions are drawn but w/o reading it, I can't say that for sure.

  • A peer reviewed scientific journal is as close to the truth as one will ever get in this world. They are the foundation of modern scientific knowledge. If the integrity of scientific journals ever comes into question, then we might as well scrap every advancment made because we dont have a solid foundation based on the truth.

  • If you want to blindly believe something because you read it in a journal of science, go for it. I have seen too much to do that. Psychiatry telling someone they have a "chemical imbalance" and yet they can't tell you what chemical is too high or low!

I reserve the right to be skeptical of things that do not ring true to me based upon my own understanding of science. I'd love to read one of those articles if I can find it free online or somewhere easily accessible.

  • As for being skeptical, thats a beautiful thing. Critical thinking is a cornerstone of science. Thats why you will never see a creationist paper published in a scientific journal, it would be torn to shreds along with the authors career. Its a ruthless industry with reputations at stake.

  • I've given much thought to this chemical vs psychological issue. Having been in a hospital for panic attacks, I've seen it up close. For those who believe it's all chemical, why do people not panic at night? Why do they panic only in certain situations? The thought precedes the symptoms. We become afraid only when something clicks in our thought processes and that fear can eventually become "automatic" to where you don't know what thought triggered it. Thanks for the chat!

  • Yeah but how come the rest of the population dosent suffer from panic attacks. Do sufferers (ive had two, horrific) have more stressful lives than the rest of the population. Its the chicken egg, nature vs nurture argument. All im saying is that its extreamly rare that its simply one or the other. Its usually a combination of the two.

  • They've simply not been put into the same conditions as those who did. why does one boxer win and one lose? There's a LOSING GENE! :) No.

My mom was a worrier. When you have to listen to "You need to [fill in blank]" for 30 years, it tends to add into the equation. So, you can see, I'm saying MOST of the mental problems are psychological and I allow for a small bit of physical (neuron transmission problems, chemicals that ARE out of whack, etc).

  • For that particular condition ill agree with you there, its mostly a result of environmental factors as opposed to a biological disposition.

  • I don't really know why you're implicating me here when you'd think a skeptic would appreciate that someone doesn't just swallow a claim from someone else. Interesting, indeed.

  • Mate I dont see where I have personally attacked you. Furthermore im not just blindly following what some scientist said, im a scientist myself and my field encompasses areas such as genetics. I also know the stringent measures put in place in order to get a paper published. If I read one paper on the subject and based my assertion on it, that would be bias. Im not. Im basing my assertion on dozens of papers.

  • Let me just quote what you typed in an earlier msg.

    6. This is starting to remind me of arguments ive had with creationists, they dont accept scientific evidence either.

So, I'm done because I have to get on with some things but feel free to msg me privately or post here a link to any paper/article.

  • Yeah I apologise for that remark it was a cheap shot and I would be furious if someone used it on me. Ill have a look for you I dont have a subscription to science direct at the moment but will shortly.

  • We all can jump the gun. Just because I am skeptical doesn't mean I think science is totally wrong. I'm all for science. I just have seen "science" really turn into pseudo-science and so when someone says A and it doesn't fit with my own experience, I am skeptical.

I used to subscribe to Scientific American and Science but I have no $ to do that now.

  • Hey ill pm you with any info I find. Its was a nice change to have an intelligent discussion on youtube.

  • Even if we totally disagree, at least we should be able to do it w/o slinging names and such. I try but sometimes I get fed up and just say I'm over it. Anyway, thanks for the info but try to send a link to a summary if you can. I got to do some stuff tho.

  • Oh forgot to ask you. How lomg were you a christian for?

  • over 10 years.

  • When refrencing scientific papers its good pracice to provide up to date papers. Science moves quickly.

  • In relation to only 85% of the population being religious as opposed to 99.9% in the past, thats a result of education, scientific advances and new technology. Our brains make us susceptible to religious indoctrination, its then up to parents to provide the indoctrination. The biological component is why people like sir francis collins, who was project manager of the human genome project, can be believers.

  • there is no religious gene. A cursory look at the facts would show you this let alone the fact that there is no gene that religious people have that atheists don't and again, what happened to all the god spots of those millions of atheists who USED to be Christians and those who never were? It's pseudo-science. We are psychologically prone to believe, NOT biologically. Grass is greener and our intelligence level allows us to want better (ie, a heaven etc).

  • 1. I didnt say there was a gene for religious people. I said there is a region of the brain, colloquially refered to as the god spot, which everyone has.

    2. The region make human beings prone to religious experience. It is a biological component and it was discovered over ten years ago.

    3. The region makes humans susceptible to religious indoctrination, it can be combated via education and critical thinking. Hence atheists.

  • Damn bro guess it's hell for me.

  • don't feel bad. Narrow is the way to the pearly gates and few will find the path. hehehehhe But we'll be having a great barbeque 24/7 where we're going! hahahha

  • What if Satan gives me a bullwhip and a room full of televangelists?

  • hmmm that's the great paradox of hell, isn't it? I mean, if you're actually having fun, is it hell anymore? hmmmmm Just be sure to have them play Devo's hit song while your at it. HEHEHEH Kerrrrak that whip!

  • This video rocks!!

  • thanks

  • OMG, it was favorited 333 times! We all know what 333+333 equals!!!

  • It means that I'm half of Satan or in other words... his main demon! hahahahah Actually, Revelation is just a misprint. the real # of the beast is 666.1910537 but John just decided to round it off to 666. HEHHEHEH

  • Oh, I know about the misprint! I guess I was being silly.

  • :) .

  • The moral master 2.0 would melt down if I touched it.

    Clever idea, nicely made video.

  • thanks. So, are you saying that you are a very naughty girl? hehehehhehe Or just have a normal body temperature of over 200 degrees? DOH!

  • nice work =D That was funny! =D

  • thanks

  • Is was it written in this book :

    A. The divine manefistation inate moral sense

    or

    B. Absurd religous dogma?

  • Awesome video. So clever and very well done!

  • thanks!

  • Hilarious video, the voice and the music are perfect.

  • thanks!

  • Genius!

I need to buy these for gifts this Christmas.

  • hmmmm maybe I could sell models of it? hahaha that'd be funny. prob too involved to actually make them look real. thanks!

  • this is awesome!! but Christians will just combat this by saying that though the bible is God's complete and unchanging holy word, there are plenty of passages that his followers are allowed to ignore when it inconveniences them.

  • thanks. yep. But with 2 BILLION Christians, we have to try!

  • Take the M out and I might be interested.

  • OralAster 2? hahah no, OralMaster! hmmm Well, we'll have R&D look into it. HEHEH

  • Heh you got it. ;-)

Never leave home without .... well.... never leave home.

    Keep up the exxxcellent work.

  • hehehe thanks! I MUST finish this new MoralMaster vid I'm doing. gonna call right now and get me a dang akter. I need an akter who'll akt fer free!

  • gee thanks moralmaster! i'm all straightened out now!

  • np. HEHEH

  • Oh I caught this one late, brillant! Oh where have you been all my life since I realised I was an atheist (I always was I just only thought of it recently).

  • Never too late to ridicule the Lard of Hosts. HEHE

See, my take is that it's okay to ridicule something as long as the thing you're ridiculing is... ridiculous!

  • Indeed, my line, if they can't help it (colour, sex, sexuality) then I won't make fun of it but, religion is a choice and people can say whatever they want about a choice.

  • RIght. It is pretty lame to ridicule a child with cancer, or a person's skin color (unless, of course, they altered their skin color via chemicals to make themselves look like an alien). So, yeah, I don't always do these types of vids but I think they make a good point and really, the sad part is that no Christian can argue against it! haha it comes DIRECTLY from their "good" book.

  • That's the best vid I've seen in a while. GREAT JOB!

  • thanks! I love doing funny vids. I need to do more but I can only do so much in a dang day. I've always wished I could clone myself. You, do the dishes. HEHEHEH oh, and YOU! yeah, you. Vacuum and uh, go buy groceries. What about you? I've got to make some insulting vids against Christians. hehehehhe

  • I would be too afraid that my clone would be evil, kill me and take over my life.

  • hmmm I didn't think about that. hehe It's always something.

  • How has this video not gone viral? It's pure genius!

  • hehe thanks! I don't know. I had a friend (CousinoMacul) put the link on one site and it generated TONS of hits. Then after about 18,000 views it leveled off. There's a followup to this one. Turned out pretty good.

  • Yes...I've watched and I admire the follow-up...and from my own limited knowledge of the bible, I can easily imagine many more follow ups to come.

  • The bible is still so full of God's perfect love and morality not yet reflected here...what about the righteousness of owning the woman you rape and her lifelong submission to your authority as her master? What about the righteousness of incest? Common! it's repeated many times in God's perfect plan! Slavery is among the things that consistently pleases God...how did we stray from his perfect righteousness...I could go on and on...but alas, the Bible is the perfect inerrant word of God!!

  • Yes, how could I have overlooked those???? Jeebus H. CHROST! I mean, look at poor Cain, I mean, he had to KNOW either his mother, Eve, or a sister in order to keep PROCREATING. And what of Noah and family? Where did they get their wives if the eight of them were all that were left???? Hey, sis... I'd like to get to KNOW you. How bout it? hehehe How did I believe this before???

  • Yes brother, you are now feeling God's love and perfection! We all must submit and obey God in the perfect example of rape, incest, genocide, patricides, petulant, insecure and childish reactions....obviously this complex and amazing universe was created by an insecure little bitch! An insecure little bitch that is afraid of any truth or reality, but this little bitch finds comfort only in his own weak fairy tales of deep, filthy and smelly bullshit...don't judge him...worship him!!!

  • heheheh funny

Oh, great Lard, we humbly and dumbly submit our intelligence to your mysterious will and omnivorousness oops, I mean, omniscience, and we ask that you bless us with all ignorance in thy holy ways and lead us not into intelligence, but deliver us from reason, for thine is the fear, prejudice and ignorance forever. Ramen. OOPS! I meant, Amen! Don't strike me down, Lard!!!!!

  • Yes my righteous brother, let us all pray for deliverance from the evils of intelligence, reason and logic.. please bless us with the enlightening grace of ignorance, fear, prejudice and bigotry...perhaps even the grace of a tramatic brain injury to help us find your path...this is the way of the light and the way of our Lord.. our scared little bitch, our Lord. Forever shrinking and hiding from truth and reality, he is the god of ignorant, insecure little bitches forever, amen.

  • It's unusual to meet someone else who also knows the ways of our ever-shrinking master. Some say that he has never existed at all and some say there is no difference since he's basically invisible to all forms of detection but that merely proves he DOES exist! Only a god of such cunning and power could remain completely aloof while masterminding every event on the planet to his perfect purpose! HAHAHAHAH May lack of understanding continually obfuscate your path, brother! LOL!

  • Great video Truth Surge! I fav'd and subscribed! Apparently some on here would prefer to question your credentials rather than simpy understand the message behind the video.

If Christ were here today, there's one thing he would not be... Christian! lol

    Keep up the good work.

  • Thanks. Although in reality, if you are familiar with the gospels, we really can't know WHAT Jesus would say or do in a particular situation. He evolved over time from a man who was chosen by god to god himself.

Yeah, people want to attack but that's only because they haven't actually read this stuff in their own "good book". Everything in this is straight out of the Bible.

  • VERY very very good!

  • thanks VERY very much!

  • TruthSurge Why all the talk about slavery

    among the atheist?

  • Because the Jewish, Christian and Muslim god is depicted as condoning it. I would never have thought an omnipotent and loving god would do such a thing. This despicable tyrant must be exposed for what he/she/it is.

    Are you a Christian, seebigred?

  • TruthSurge, Yes I'm a believer,I would like to know what church or belief you come out of.

You seem to tote a pretty big grudge against this God[if he exists]

  • Imagine you grew up in Indonesia. Imagine everyone around you were Muslim and everything you saw and heard was Muslim. Allah was a given. Imagine you were approached by people to surrender to Allah and pointed to countless verses in the Quran. Imagine you do accept it all and then over the next 15 years, you actually read the Quran and discover that ... it isn't true. But imagine the 5 prayers a day for 15 years and more. Wouldn't YOU be a tad angry about that?

  • Good thing I was never brainwashed in the first place. I've no need to be angry at all. Until Muslims started defiling England with their God bless Hitler signs I didn't even notice religion. I think it's time for Europeans in denial to stop whining about the evil Zionist/neoconservative/George Bush, blah, blah, blah and start focusing on the REAL enemy. Fuckin' brilliant video too.

  • Thanks a lot! Yep. Denial. Happens all the time. People find a lump. Oh, it will go away. A year later, it's bigger. But hey, it doesn't hurt! Then... suddenly, they're sick. They go to the doc. Oh, well, you've got 6 mo to live. Denial can have some very undesirable consequences!

  • I was basically a Southern Baptist Christian. Bible = inerrant word of God. Trinity. God = Jesus = Holy Spirit = Jesus = God, etc.

  • Another scripture quoting atheist.

ya'll need to fine another source of truth besides the bible.

  • The ridiculous needs to be ridiculed. I'm just doing my duty. :)

  • All of those were from the old testament. Back then the culture was MUCH different and had to be dealt with differently. God's new covenant made by Jesus says nothing like any of the things in this video. You are entitled to your opinion but this video has no real argument.

  • So, god allowed slavery and rape because his chosen people were morons to begin with? Sweet.

Your "explanation" doesn't work. It's equivalent to "no child left behind". Pass them even if they don't apply themselves and learn the material. Dumb it down so that they all pass.

  • Wrong. God didn't dumb things down so we could pass, He changed his judgment because things were outdated.

You wouldn't expect to see a man telling his girlfriend that her place was in the kitchen, yet not too long ago that was perfectly acceptable.

Really this is quite a pointless discussion because our conclusions depend on our current belief. You don't believe in God so you come to the conclusion that I'm wrong. I do believe in God and assume the same about you. Agree to disagree I guess.

  • So you believe in a god that changes according to people and what they do. That's interesting. So god allowed slavery and easy penalties for rape back then because he knew that he couldn't lay down the law like he did in the 10 commandments because well, his chosen people couldn't handle a law like "thou shall not rape a woman - period". Very interesting.

  • No, I believe in a God smart enough to change the law in accordance to where His people are. God didn't allow slavery, He just didn't intervene because of free will.

  • In fact, God gave instructions on how to sell one's own daughter into slavery.

    Exodus 21:7.

I see you haven't read the Bible at all. It might help if you did. It would keep you from making such ignorant remarks. :)

  • Excuse me I wasn't clear enough. I meant the recent slavery of African American's. Slavery was a much more accepted back then. Being a slave was something many people did by choice even so it is not hard to see how the bible would have things like that.

  • But don't you see? The Bible depicts God as CONDONING slavery! Hello! Earth to Haunted!

These are CLEAR indications that MEN wrote the Bible w/o any divine inspiration. No omniscient deity of love would EVER allow for slavery and rape and such - then or now.

And Jesus and Paul believed the Old testament was god's word. The whole of Christianity stands or falls on whether the OT is, in fact, true. If any of it is false, Christianity falls flat.

  • "And Jesus and Paul believed the Old testament was God's word. The whole of Christianity stands or falls on whether the OT is in fact true. If any of it is false, Christianity falls flat."

I could not have said it better myself actually.

  • A reading of Exodus 22 does not leave one with the impression that God is unjust. Let me explain.

God does not condone slavery at all. God merely realized that a family might be reduced to such poverty that there would be no other option for survival except slavery. A slave was to be clothed and fed and treated justly. Read the whole passage. God has made surprisingly specific provisions for justice even in the most difficult of situations.

  • [typo] I meant Exodus 21, of course.

  • Since when was survival the paramount issue? If they died, they'd just go to heaven earlier and their suffering would be over. God kills countless people for others' crimes and then allows for slavery to allow poor people to remain poor AND enslaved to another?

hmmm Sounds logical to me. :)

  • "would be no other option for survival except slavery."

God could give them food and money.

  • If they are immoral now, why were they moral actions in the OT?
