Opinions and perspectives vary on a wide range of topics. That's what makes the world go 'round. "the truth" is found within the soul of the individual. Once this truth is uncovered, unconditional love and non-judgment will begin to sprout. The deception is in believing there's only "one" way, it's called "YOURS" and we all seem to have "one". Mine is that truth can only be realized from within ourselves and from inside the truths themselves. Religion is not the answer for me, a non-atheist.
When the Church was "unified" that was another word for exclusivity. When you say We are Christian and you are not.. That is NOT unifying anybody, but being exclusive. So you can everybody a heretic all you want. The fact is that you are considered a heretic by others.
@ThePinoyPunch You bring up a good point but, heresy means a teaching not in accord with original doctrine so the correct applying of the word involves objective, historical assessment of what is the original teaching of the founders of a religion. Thus it should not be a mere relative, arbitrary tit for tat name calling of those who disagree as you might be suggesting. Since Mohammad came long after the very consistent Christian doctrines were established, calling us heretics is hard to support
@franciscanfriars your answer reveals how little you know about how Muslim's view Christianity. According to them they have the original teachings of Issa(Jesus). You don't know that right? they even have a whole chapter in he Qur'an dedicated o Mary the moher of Issa(Jesus). so saying that my position is hard to support is kinda weak statement.
but if you don't like i, lets change the name, how about born again or baptists Christians, according to them you guys are heretical.
@ThePinoyPunch I am well aware that the Qur'an has teachings about Christ and other Biblical persons but that is because they got a distorted version many centuries later. Catholicism predates Mohamed, Baptists and born agains. In fact it has a history exactly as old as Christianity itself and is to this day the majority Christian Church as it always has been. I think we know where to go to find the correct teaching on Christ and what is Orthodox (does not change) and what is Heterodox, changed
