First God did not brought such suffering to job, He only allows it. He allows it so that He can prove the faithfulness of Job. First God did not brought such suffering to job, He only allows it. He allows it so that He can prove the faithfulness of Job. Just like a common student, one has to undergo examinations and passed to achieve greatness. You can liken it to a purification process of gold. It has to pass thru intense heat in order to extract its purity.

It is God who speaks of natural phenomena (sun, light, dark), and it is God who is able to cause "well-being" as well as "calamity."

Regarding Job, I obviously wouldn't like it if God killed my family, but I wouldn't give up on God. Job was far from happy too. Traditional Judaism does emphasize the afterlife. What do you think happened to Elijah? He went up to heaven in a whirlwind (2 Kings 2:11). Ecclesiastes 3:11 mentions how God has set eternity in our hearts.

@DocReasonable Well...traditional Judaism mentions the highest of heavens as the place where God dwells. Paul mentions this as the 3rd heaven (2 Cor 12:2), also referred to as "the Father's house" or "paradise". Before the death of Christ, no man would have been able to ascend into highest of heavens. When we look at the promise Jesus made to the thief that repented (Luke 23:43), it makes sense. Through the death of Christ, mankind gained access to paradise. That's how I see it.

However, God made a way to satisfy perfect justice without us having to suffer the eternal consequences of our own sins. God entered a covenant with Christ (His perfect Son) that He would receive Christ’s sacrifice as payment in full for the sins of all those who belong to Christ.

Only after the resurrection, the apostles fully understood the nature of God's kingdom. It was this experience along with being filled by the holy spirit (Acts 2) that gave them the fervor to go into all the world and preach the gospel.

Take a look at Matthew 16:21-23 though. Jesus explains how he will be killed at the hands of the elders and chief priests. Jesus rebukes Peter for trying to prevent him to go on the cross. Jesus chose to let them kill him to fulfill his purpose.

Job was restored to health, with a new family and twice as much livestock. Yes, God sent the wind that caused Job's children to die, but they would of been sent straight to heaven.
