Aye when rabbit make the grunting noise, they are contented/happy, and well lets face it rabbits are at their most happiest when they are eating!! They are beautiful natured creatures who spread happiness to their respective owners, my 2 daughters have a rabbit and a dog, the dog loves the rabbits, she treats them like her puppies, she licks them and plays with them and protects them, its wonderful to watch and funny especially when the rabbits chase the dog round the garden lol :)

i work with rabbits for the local humane society... i had my boyfriend take me to clean their cages one time and was talking to my boyfriend about how they honk and make other noises as such. he looked at me funny and said "really i didnt know they made noises at all!" so now i can show him something. thank you

As a grad student pursuing a PhD in a Molecular Biology, I too would appreciate seeing an article to support your claims. ANY vegetable in large amounts is obviously unhealthy for a rabbit, so unless you're talking about a volume that would be easy to overfeed, your comment is irrelevant. You have a very immature attitude for someone trying to give advice.

its not a honk its a low grunt it does mean happy though. good stuff...btw i would suggest a little less parsley being fed and feeding it only once a week (unless its already a once weekly thing) as its a uterine stimulant and can cause urinary problems and also it increases heart rate making the heart work needlessly harder than usual which can shorten a buns lfe... this is only the case though if the buns get alot of parsley...small amounts are fine...

How do you know this? As far as I can tell, there's no research on feeding rabbits parsley and heart rate, lifespan, or uterine/urinary problems. It seems like parsley, since it is a diuretic, would, if anything, help prevent the common problem of bladder stones. In any case, it would be impossible for it to cause uterine problems in spayed rabbits (as most pets are, and all should be) who lack a uterus.

If you have data, please publish it and share!

@TheyCallHimBun I know this because I am studying to become a medical herbalist, im training in people and animal herbalism! So I know that parsley when fed IN LARGE amounts will cause problems, and even spayed/castrated pets can have problems, it not the be all and end all!

I keep rabbits and was curious to learn something new about their care. After searching the literature available to me and finding nothing, I figured you knew this from a source that I couldn't find. You must have learned it from somewhere (even if it was your own experience with rabbits,) and I wanted to evaluate whether it was credible information or not, since it would affect my buns' health. I didn't think I had asked a difficult or mean-spirited question.

My sister's rabbit used to do that whenever I scratched his back, and he'd groom himself whenever I did that. Plus, whenever I sat on the floor, he'd pick up his gold bow after he sniffed me and run around me, and all the while, making strange noises. Do you think he was trying to tell me something? I'm guessing your rabbit isn't fixed. When it makes those noises and runs around in circles it's looking for some (sexual) satisfaction. It's important for the health of the rabbit (especially if it's a female) to get them fixed.

It iS super cute when they do that, but I just thought I'd let ya know that from my own experience :)
