From the Dutch: This man tells it all right. Just a little too positive about the character. They are friendly with people they know. And real characteristic is: perfect watch and guard dog. An example of obedience and loyalty is this: If you are in any way in contact with violence, and the dog takes it - and he does this. he no longer listens to his name. He literally will defend to the death possible.
This guy is so wrong about Jacqueline Kennedy's 'family' -- her family has nothing to do with the breed's name. She did, however, have a Bouvier that her father gave to her when he heard about the breed. She named it Caprice. The Bouvier is an absolutely wonderful dog, not for first time dog owners tho!
Ok I have a question. I was planning on getting a Black Russian Terrier and I came across these Bouviers.... which should I get? I want a larger dog. They look alot alike so help you guys! Thanks!!^^ Plus the closer breeder is in Colorado and i live in Texas. I found some Bouvier breeders close by.
@ThePhreakzKururu Meet the dogs and the dog's parents, spend some time with them to decide. If you pick a breed based on looks alone, then you could easily end up with the wrong match personally. What's more important is their energy (playful or couch potato? laid back or energetic?) and make sure that matches what you want to live with. Also friendliness vs protective, etc. Find out if they're the right breed for you. So spend some time with several to see which you like to be around the best.
@anardun Thanks for the answer! I tracked down a couple owners of each in my area. So im going to talk to them and see their dogs. I work in a grooming salon and I fell in love the the Bouviers ive seen.
Don't let the talk of cancer discourage you from this glorious, wonderful breed. My bouviers blessed me with 15 1/2 and 13 1/2 years of deep loyalty, devotion, love, companionship, you name it. Once you own a Bouvier, no other dog will do for you. They are the great communicators and their devotion is unrivaled. They are supremely intelligent.
sounds like the AKC bred cancer into the Bouvier throughout the years an' breeders need to make sure their dogs are cancer-free before breeding their dogs. but who wants to spend tons of money when they just want to make money? great breed, but bad breeding that stretches back over 200 years.
Very nice. We've had 4 Bouviers too. Our last died about 2 years ago. Lovely dogs... We live in a highrise now so no more puppies until we get a yard.
I love that you filmed this guy and his Bouvier to share on Youtube! I have some videos of a younger Bouv puppy (now age 7 months) throughout his main period of growth. You might want to check them out to see what size they start from. ;)
I never knew about the geese herding. Wish I lived next to this guy!

We too are with our 4th Bouvier[actually # 3 and 4[together], after losing the 1st 2 to cancer. Thiroid [sp?] and prostate, both at 12 years old.
This gentleman descibes the breed exactly to a T !!!
