Have you ever tried tapping towards you instead of away?

When i tap toward myself, (like paul gilbert and EVH) i find it to be WAY more controllable and i even think it sounds better.

Just wondering, i dont understand why tapping then pulling off in the other direction would be better.

Nah, I understand the method of sweep picking, but I can only do it somewhere over the pickups (where there is nothing under the strings). He is literally sweeping his pick on the fretboard.

I think I Just don't push the pick towards the body of the guitar as much when I go over the strings. I try not to go over the strings where possible, because obviously it's harder to make sound clean.

Interesting. Well, you do it very well. It is handy being way up there on the neck for when you sweep up and then do a hammer-on with your picking hand.

You notice in 1:39 how he picks the strings, it's an old jazz technique they do to pick faster called "Circle picking." Or something like that, I read it n a GuitarPlayer Magazine on 99 Ways to improve your playing.

Dude, that's not circle picking. That's just good sweep technique. Circle Picking is when you only use your index and thumb to pick, in a sort of circle. It's used when alternate picking, not sweeping. "Old Jazz" guitarists didn't sweep. Not until Frank Gambale and Allan Holdsworth in the 70's did Fusion guitarists and later shredders start sweeping.

i don't no wat pick hes useing but i use black jazz III pick its hard to get used to but when u do it makes playing alot easier it the pick micheal angelo uses. hes the fastest guitarest ever look him up on youtube hope this helps
