The Palestinians who managed to get arms to defend themselves from the invasion weren't organised. The invaders massacred unarmed villagers while the rest of them fled to avoid the same fate.

Since 2000, Palestinian rockets have claimed the lives of 22 Israelis. Israel massacred 1400 people in Gaza, the majority of them being civilians, during Operation Cast Lead which lasted for 3 weeks. In Gaza Israel did all it could to avoid killing civilians but it was Hamas' intent to fire rockets from amongst civilians and they therefore imperiled the lives of their own people. And citing unbalanced numbers only shows me that Israel is far better at protecting its citizens and is more planful, strategic, resourceful, and effective at fighting its enemies.

There was a Jewish group calle HaShomer which was established in the late 1800s to protect Jewish settlers from Arab attacks and murders which were taking place. These were ongoing and escalated in 1920 at which time a long series of Arab massacres started in which they targeted scores of innocent, peaceful, unarmed Jews - many of whom had lived their for generations.

@Nightzo Palestinians Arabs could have done just what Israel did as far as building a military. They outnumberd the Jews and even received soldiers and weapons from other oil-rich Arab countries - and from Russia. Any military camps would not have been targeted if they did not throw the first punch. Israel certainly does care about its citizens - that's why they spent millions building the Iron Dome defense system to intercept such rockets. Why don't Gazans move out into other Arab countries?

Palestinians didn't build paramilitaries as they were peaceful and felt that the British were doing a fine peacekeeping mission in Palestine before the creation of Israel. The Palestinians who managed to get arms to defend themselves from the invasion weren't organised. The invaders massacred unarmed villagers while the rest of them fled to avoid the same fate.

The British were lousy peacekeepers from the start. They sat by & watched Jews get massacred and then denied them possession of weapons - that's why they had to form underground defense groups or face certain annihilation.

Egypt imposed a blockade first in the Gulf of Akaba and then in the Suez Canal. Plus there were Fayadeen raids into Israel from Syria to also provoke them.
