Ron, you are such a talented musician, and I'm just in awe of that. You always have perfect timing when playing any instrument, while I struggle with basic playing of anything, hehe. I just love to tune in and listen. And you are also a great songwriter. What a brilliant song. I sort of see it as an ink blot song. It could mean different things to different people. To me it means that REAL beauty is what's inside, the character of a person. What's outside can be deceiving. :) Janet
I don't have to have this explained to me, but the last line has me scratching me head a bit...that's good...had an English lit lecturer once who reckoned every good poem has at least one line in it which you can't work out. The piano playing is superb. If you played like Bud Powell it simply wouldn't carry the McCartneyish flavour as well.
I must have missed this in the few days when the subscription boxes weren't working. It's absolutely fantastic, love the progressions like many others have said and the general feel of it is very effective. Talk soon mon fre.
Hey there Duncano, great to hear from you. I hope all is well with you and you're setting into a nice groove for School. Thanks for the good words and I"m looking forward to more uploads from you when you can work them in :o). Later, -Rono
The English teacher in me wants to correct "its pinnacle," but that's a minor point. Great song! I always try to apply the idea of this song to people and look deeper beyond a person's appearance. Not always easy!
Hello Hendersongs, thank you. That instrument is a curatro, a ten-stringed instrument that is native to Puerto Rico. I has a very nice sound. Thanks, -Ron
Extraordinarily complex but ideally simple just the same. Crazy good idea and lyrics Ron...you sucked me in with those minor chords and kept me held hostage until the ever present smile at the end. You can write some charming music that is new and fresh and always a blast to listen to. Just an amazing share my friend. Thank you.
Thanks Pat, I appreciate you kind comments. My piano songs tend to be a bit more dark, not intentionally really but maybe just the nature of the chords as you say. Thanks a lot Pat and I'm looking forward to your next. -Ron
Thanks Justin, and the truth is I am innately incapable of writing songs in any conventional way... good and bad in equal measure :o) Thanks and I'm looking out for you new stuff. -Ron
Hi Dave, thanks and I hope you are doing good. I need to get over to your channel very soon to make sure I haven't missed anything. YT is bad about not letting me know my friends uploads lately. Thanks again. -Ron
Beautiful, Ron. Wonderful song - really like the play on words. Really lovely performance - you are sounding like Paul McCartney, I think. Well done, my friend! 8o)
Really like this, and fun to watch you play....I've never tried a single bass note on the bottom, chord on the left,..a now will..........love the hearing and seeing, always inspirational...
thanks for you nice comments. I sort of keep myself from going astray on the piano with the left-hand bass notes..."ok bass note is D... then it must be a D chord" haha :o) I will love to hear you doing some of this too. Thanks -Ron
Hey Ron. I enjoyed everything about this song. The overall sound is terrific with the solemn piano, beautiful minor / complex chords resonating deep below the superficial. And I can see this also as social commentary, very relevant to this media age. Nice work, really. - Karl
Oh, and also I really dig the flavor of the lyrics -mixing modern colloquial with King James-like verse, I try to do that sometimes. It's very effective here.
@karlmahlmann Hi Karl, I really appreciate you comments, especially in light of your own great musicianship. Yea, I must admit I go off on the media in a lot of my songs, but they have it coming to them haha. It is good you mention the lyrics regarding the mixing of styles. I agree that is very interesting to do sometimes. Talk to you later. -Ron
Hi Ron, I what a great song you created here. I love it so much how you performed it live. It is a moving performance. And - I like the little bird on your piano very much.
Thank you for your wonderful songs Ron. They belong to the best.
Hi Paul, eeh Ron, a really nice song, with the open end, the beautiful chorus, and the clear voice plus piano style. The nmeaning?, you know, I don´t care that much for meanings (lyrics) in music, honestly. The voice is an instrument for me, a sound. Of course, some lyrics are breathtaking good, but in the end for me it´s the sound.
Hi Frank, yea I even play the piano like Macca does with my left hand doing the bass notes and the right hand doing chords.... completely backwards of course haha. Thanks for the nice comment Frank. -Ron
