uh 4wd definitely does drain power. it's good for off the line, but 2wd definitely gets more power on the ground quicker on a roll. of course 4wd is a blessing for getting ahead quickly, and being able to tackle different situations better than 2wd (bumps/dips/uneven ground)
there are pros and cons to both. just gotta decide which is better for you i guess.
take a look at both sides. don't be an elitist asshole and accept that there are good points to both sides.
@guitarist1990 i know this comment is old, but at least some one gets it.....pro's and cons of every drivetrain. it was nice to read, every car videos filled with idiots who know absolutely nothing about cars, except for the one they drive. :/
When 4 wheel drive is just the best and 10 times better... why are the Formula 1-, Nascar-,the 6 time in a row Le Mans winner (Audi R10) Topfuelcars etc. all back-wheel-drive?! -.-
Formula 1, NASCAR, Le Mans - Regulation requires RWD only
Topfuel - front tires never touch the ground, why bother with AWD
Get yourself to ChippedUK for a remap. Got a fast road map on my 2002 GTTDi 150 and it's running about 200bhp and 300lb-ft on factory clutch etc. Keeps up with a BMW 335d now in a drag race... Cost about £300 or get an ST3 device like I did and get 2 remaps to change as you wish, plus the original one for about £500.
Flash type plug n play device that allows you to change what map you run. I have factory map, an economy map and the fast road map and can swap between any of the 3 in minutes, so all of the benefits of 2 remaps plus factory for dealer work.
When my '99 MR2 was being repaired a few months back, I was given a 170bhp GT Tdi as a courtesy car. I was amazed at the acceleration, it felt much quicker than my MR2 (although on paper, the MR2 was equally quick).
In the right gear, at the right time, it felt like it would leave anything standing.
Ive since bought an '02 Ibiza TDi Sport with the 130bhp 1.9 engine from the old Golf GT TDi. I know it's less powerful/torquey but combined with lighter weight it feels almost as quick!
The new TDI 170's are quick out the box, most dyno at around 185-190 BHP from new hence the very quick times. They 170 will map to a maximum of 205 due to the DPF so only a small gain from 185 bhp etc but they produce more torque on a remap and a better spread of power.
I timed this car to 60 at 6.4 and 100 at 16.5 - very quick these are TDI 150 remap times.
If it is a DSG car then this also helps with the quick times.
diesels are only slow when it comes to the bhp count, and 0-60 count. All those extra torques makes a massive difference in anythinng other than a 0-60 sprint. In the real world, a diesel is far quicker than a petrol. Either way, a car the size of the Golf with 170 bhp is going to be fast, even if its a petrol.
Very nice and I love the new agre diesels...but that seems to do a 0-100 in about 16 secs which I can't see being right imo Or the 0-60 which is probably 2 seconds quicker than std. It may be 170bhp and have lots of torque but they weigh about 1500kgs
I have just received delivery of my brand new gt sport tdi 170 and can assure every body that it goes like stink. think of this, an rs turbo was only 130 bhp standard, a 328i bmw is only 180 odd. THINK about it!!
diesel are slow? my gti tdi 150 was 170 to 175 bhp as standord .a £200 remap takin it to 195bhp + 1 hybrid turbo knockin it up over 200 bhp. next remap can go 240bhp. can admin its quicker than the v5 & v6 golf n still 40 mpg.... :-) hehe
absolutely. And the great thing is, acceleration off the line isn't a diesel's forte...going from, say 50mph to in excess of 120 is where these cars come into there own, phonomenal torque...i think the 170 has 258lbft@2200rpm...which is...alot.
i forgot what insurance group this is, i think 13 but i pay 1300 and im 19 and have 3 points on my licence but then does depend on theft rate in your area as but the key factor is age really but someone gonna say im wrong cause everyone always has to believe otherwise, i got 1 years no claims, i never claimed before just passed when 17 and ws out of the country a year inbetween... plus side of this car is MPG is amazing for as fast as it is. hope this info is of some help
Diesels can't rev as high as gasoline engines, it'll blow to pieces if the rpm is too high. Great vid, man. 170ps, 0-100 in 7.9 seconds or even faster...you have a great car.
yo, odin82 .... its a TDI and those cut off at arround 5000 rpm and the way they cut off is a bit different than the way gas engines do aiight so he cant "force" the motor more than that except if he chips it... think before writing plz...
dont talk on here if you dont know anything. diesels are much more advanced. i have a diesel that will go past most cars i.e corsa vxrs etc. diesels if mapped properly are very fast
Yes numpty my comment was backing up diesels, so how about you dont comment unless you know what your talking about, i was replying to the comment that odin82 left saying that he changed gear very early and i simply told him that all a diesels tourqe is in the lower revs. And i know that some diesels are properly fast, my mate has a 130bhp fr ibiza with a ball of tourqe and it will sit up the ass of a vxr corsa. So dont say i dont know anything about cars.
u took alot of time writing that. thats quite sad to be honest. and ur friends ibiza wont sit up the arse of a vxr unless its been mapped. my friend has one and they are fast. mine will sit up his arse but my polo has 175 brake not 130.
lol ok call it sad if you like, and yea it would sit ryt and tight to a vxr corsa. Why are you arguing with me anyway i was right in the 1st comment i made. And im nt gonna be rude but why did you buy a polo?
insurance, i cudnt get insured on a golf. my re mapped polo is quicker anyway than a golf 170. which i like. yes the golf is nice. but my polo is nice too just not a golf. plus it was cheaper.
Whoa!!!! 240p !!!!!!!!!!!!

Given that a VW TDI gets almost 50 mpg, 0 to 60 in about 7 - 8 seconds is pretty good. I'd say that it's a pretty good compromise.

THIS SAPS POWER AS THE ENGINE HAS MORE WORK TO DO, IT HAS MORE TO TURN. THE POWER AT THE WHEELS DECREASES.
ALSO OVERALL WEIGHT INCREASES.
DO YOU UNDERSTAND THIS SIMPLE LESSON IN RWD AND 4WD NOW?
rickyyquicky 3 years ago
the majority of sports cars are RWD, dont count japanese shite, they are not true exotica
rickyyquicky 3 years ago
uh 4wd definitely does drain power. it's good for off the line, but 2wd definitely gets more power on the ground quicker on a roll. of course 4wd is a blessing for getting ahead quickly, and being able to tackle different situations better than 2wd (bumps/dips/uneven ground)
there are pros and cons to both. just gotta decide which is better for you i guess.
take a look at both sides. don't be an elitist asshole and accept that there are good points to both sides.

@guitarist1990 i know this comment is old, but at least some one gets it.....pro's and cons of every drivetrain. it was nice to read, every car videos filled with idiots who know absolutely nothing about cars, except for the one they drive. :/

@KnyphsEdge Thanks man, I appreciate that. This guy has no idea what he's talking about.

When 4 wheel drive is just the best and 10 times better... why are the Formula 1-, Nascar-,the 6 time in a row Le Mans winner (Audi R10) Topfuelcars etc. all back-wheel-drive?! -.-
Formula 1, NASCAR, Le Mans - Regulation requires RWD only
Topfuel - front tires never touch the ground, why bother with AWD

ive bought a 2001 golf gt tdi 130 bhp. any ideas on how to increase the power and the cost
deee1979 4 years ago
Get yourself to ChippedUK for a remap. Got a fast road map on my 2002 GTTDi 150 and it's running about 200bhp and 300lb-ft on factory clutch etc. Keeps up with a BMW 335d now in a drag race... Cost about £300 or get an ST3 device like I did and get 2 remaps to change as you wish, plus the original one for about £500.
jccgttdi150 3 years ago
thanks mate, ill look those up, wats a ST3 device?
deee1979 3 years ago

I know it's less powerful/torquey but combined with lighter weight it feels almost as quick!
superbracey 4 years ago
The new TDI 170's are quick out the box, most dyno at around 185-190 BHP from new hence the very quick times. They 170 will map to a maximum of 205 due to the DPF so only a small gain from 185 bhp etc but they produce more torque on a remap and a better spread of power.
I timed this car to 60 at 6.4 and 100 at 16.5 - very quick these are TDI 150 remap times.
If it is a DSG car then this also helps with the quick times.

The only reason diesels have slow 0-60 time is because they cant hook up, i drive an 03 Ford 6.0 and I can take any car in the world if it hooks up

diesels are only slow when it comes to the bhp count, and 0-60 count. All those extra torques makes a massive difference in anythinng other than a 0-60 sprint. In the real world, a diesel is far quicker than a petrol. Either way, a car the size of the Golf with 170 bhp is going to be fast, even if its a petrol.

My Golf IV TDI 150 whuck is 150 kilos lighter and with a tuningbox fitted (187bhp measured) had similar figures to 100mph. Impressive!
trqster 4 years ago
is this standard, pretty fast 0-100 mph 16.5s
as fast as a focus st or golf gti 200 hp ?
aquaboy006 4 years ago
its standard with no tweaks - it has bags of torque which makes it pull nicely. Anybody who has one will know what I mean!
davidlandy 4 years ago
Very nice and I love the new agre diesels...but that seems to do a 0-100 in about 16 secs which I can't see being right imo Or the 0-60 which is probably 2 seconds quicker than std. It may be 170bhp and have lots of torque but they weigh about 1500kgs
Chriscup 4 years ago
no-no-no... my Golf 1,9 TDI 105hk weigh about 1250kg. And I dont believe that a 2,0 TDI 170hk is so much heavier.

I have just received delivery of my brand new gt sport tdi 170 and can assure every body that it goes like stink. think of this, an rs turbo was only 130 bhp standard, a 328i bmw is only 180 odd. THINK about it!!
davethedog78 4 years ago
Does anyone know if you can remap with DPF (diesel Particulate Filter)present. Heard it can set on fire
507bhp 4 years ago
diesel are slow? my gti tdi 150 was 170 to 175 bhp as standord .a £200 remap takin it to 195bhp + 1 hybrid turbo knockin it up over 200 bhp. next remap can go 240bhp. can admin its quicker than the v5 & v6 golf n still 40 mpg.... :-) hehe

there are some dicheads on here! talk about tdi's like there slow! not anymore thay ant!
nice car you got there mate!
look after it,and keep it dub ;)
ryanhorton83 4 years ago
absolutely. And the great thing is, acceleration off the line isn't a diesel's forte...going from, say 50mph to in excess of 120 is where these cars come into there own, phonomenal torque...i think the 170 has 258lbft@2200rpm...which is...alot.
jamoy666 4 years ago
yes i agree that is as much torque as an M3 BMW mmmm Torque the hidden power
BenjKris 4 years ago
same torque as the new Audi S3. and that thing shifts!

THE 130 IS GROUP 13 MATE
bobv6 5 years ago
i forgot what insurance group this is, i think 13 but i pay 1300 and im 19 and have 3 points on my licence but then does depend on theft rate in your area as but the key factor is age really but someone gonna say im wrong cause everyone always has to believe otherwise, i got 1 years no claims, i never claimed before just passed when 17 and ws out of the country a year inbetween... plus side of this car is MPG is amazing for as fast as it is. hope this info is of some help

Diesels can't rev as high as gasoline engines, it'll blow to pieces if the rpm is too high. Great vid, man. 170ps, 0-100 in 7.9 seconds or even faster...you have a great car.
kanov 5 years ago
yo, odin82 .... its a TDI and those cut off at arround 5000 rpm and the way they cut off is a bit different than the way gas engines do aiight so he cant "force" the motor more than that except if he chips it... think before writing plz...
Topsi1987 5 years ago
dont worry it is a new car do not scare of forcing the motor.from the video i understood that you change the gear very early.sisyyyyyyyy
odin82 5 years ago
its a diesel....rev anymore and its on the govenor = no acceleration.
davidlandy 5 years ago
lol, is a diesel, all the tourqe is in the lower revs
skerr661 3 years ago
No, they tend to hit there peak torque low down but if mapped correctly this engne can hold that untill 4,500 before dropping off
magnersnice 3 years ago
dont talk on here if you dont know anything. diesels are much more advanced. i have a diesel that will go past most cars i.e corsa vxrs etc. diesels if mapped properly are very fast
pologt175 2 years ago
Yes numpty my comment was backing up diesels, so how about you dont comment unless you know what your talking about, i was replying to the comment that odin82 left saying that he changed gear very early and i simply told him that all a diesels tourqe is in the lower revs. And i know that some diesels are properly fast, my mate has a 130bhp fr ibiza with a ball of tourqe and it will sit up the ass of a vxr corsa. So dont say i dont know anything about cars.
skerr661 2 years ago
u took alot of time writing that. thats quite sad to be honest. and ur friends ibiza wont sit up the arse of a vxr unless its been mapped. my friend has one and they are fast. mine will sit up his arse but my polo has 175 brake not 130.
pologt175 2 years ago
lol ok call it sad if you like, and yea it would sit ryt and tight to a vxr corsa. Why are you arguing with me anyway i was right in the 1st comment i made. And im nt gonna be rude but why did you buy a polo?
skerr661 2 years ago
insurance, i cudnt get insured on a golf. my re mapped polo is quicker anyway than a golf 170. which i like. yes the golf is nice. but my polo is nice too just not a golf. plus it was cheaper.
pologt175 2 years ago
why are you talking about sitting up people's asses? You guys are sick. This is a video about cars, not gay porn. Grow up and stop being silly boys
