  • Whoa!!!! 240p !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The Money You save On fuel having a Diesal Could go towards a decent Camera.

  • Given that a VW TDI gets almost 50 mpg, 0 to 60 in about 7 - 8 seconds is pretty good. I'd say that it's a pretty good compromise.

  • Chip it like mine, check this out on you tube!

VW Golf Gt Tdi MK5 (206bhp/457nm) vs Bmw Z4 3.5 At Nurburgring Nordshleife 2010

  • Mapped ? Exhaust ? Downhill? This is quicker than standard

  • looks ike 6 or 7 seconds to me

  • Would have been quicker if he didn't over rev...diesels such as this hit boost around 2000 revs and go to 3500 before dieing...if he changed at 3500 for each gear he would have stayed in boost and taken time off...!!! I know because I own a 170bhp diesel Octavia vRS

  • 9 seconds 0-60? bit shabby, must be the driver

  • @LeftTilMorning 9 seconds is very good for a small engine turbo diesel...

  • @LeftTilMorning no if you look prperly he didnt drive off till after 4 seconds.

  • @LeftTilMorning He hit 60 at around 8 secs, he didn't start until 2 secs!! But somehow you worked that out as 9 seconds??? Creases me the amount of dull people allowed to have a Youtube account!

  • Saving my ass off this year and buying one of these next year!

  • Comment removed

  • i really want one of these for next car, hope i can afford insurance

  • has tha been remapped?

  • you don't have a word in english for n/m -1 ? (newton meters ...)

in french we call that "couple" like "couple" (the facts to be two men/women)

but i know french is a language with lot of homonymous ...

but i'm surprise there no word in english for "couple" n/m -1 ... !

  • your english is just bad.

  • Watch the R15 ...

  • diesel has nice newton meters ..... this is quite sure.....

  • hahhahahahahahaahhahahhahhaha ... idiot

  • ok man... but look at this... lets get a 170bhp TDI and a 170bhp TSI on an uphill... what will be better ?

  • yes the tdi ... like i was saying .. more newton meters and Power ... but on Range a Fuel car is faster

  • the diesel..more torque

ive been in an 08 Gt TDI mk 5 courtesy car and i have to tell you when my mate stepped on the gas...my drink nearly poured out my mouth...i was like whoa....

and suprisedly only 140HP but the torque is nice...these are expensive...still at £7000 pounds cheapest!

  • U need 2 take a look at Le Mans which was won by TDI & the World Touring cars won by Seat TDI. Seat used the 170 FR engine then obviously added 2 it. Its very impressive. Torque is the main reason 4 this. Even more manufactures will b using TDI 2 race. They are now the present & the future. Watch this space.

  • 6 secs ! THATS FUCKING FAST MAN !!!

  • which diesels are the best to buy (acceleration/topspeed)

  • TDI, CDI, & bmw's diesels

  • so ?!

  • stick a Series 60, C13 or ISX in there. Then you get some real torque. though it would weigh more then car,

  • Why this turned into a convo about evos and gtrs?

  • its the attention span of the internet generation...

  • True

  • the evo, the gti-r, the gtr, and so on are breaking down all the time i know people having to take near new evo's back to the manufacturer to have things sorted

  • Right...for high speed u need very much torgue to the wheels...but hey...u really thing that a 4wd transmision has les friction who waste/destroy/EAT torgue?!

clear... its just one more differential...

Dude... i have got an Suzuki Samurai (fun dirt car)... in this car u can switch from 4wd to 2wd... Vmax with 4wd = 145Km/h...Vmax with 2wd =160km/h

And when u don't believe me... use google... -.-

    fool...

  • jeez thats quick.. is it stock 170 ps or a remapped 140? dont think there is a decent remap available for the stock 170s but then again i think they are quick enough as it is!

  • hi whats the o-60 on this

  • 8.2 secs top speed 140ish

  • Im saving the pennies, not long now till one shall be mine.

  • dsg wimp

    (still nice tho ;) )

  • runs ike my 85 civic non vtec stock. good video lolz

  • my mk5 1.9 tdi went in for repairs when some1 went into the back of it. they gave me a gt170 and i loved every minute of it. very fast

  • iv got the gt sport 2.0 tdi 57 reg, what a car

  • zajebisty licznik zajebisty silnik zajebista bryka! pozdro

  • o.0

    very nice acceleration!!

Next car for me is a 2.016v TDI, really good engines, durable and fast.

  • Friend of mine bought brand new Mk5 GT TDI170... very fast car...

  • dont be surprised if u need a new clutch and dual mass flywheel after squeezing horsies out of it.

  • I'm on factory original clutch with 103k miles on the car and about 8k on the remap. mk4 Golf clutch should be okay with upto approx 300lb-ft torque and mine is running just about that. If the clutch is worn, it'll go.

  • I have owned a gt 170 for 2 weeks and have been impressed. I bought a Bluefin for it after a week, the difference is huge. Acceleration is massively improved. 2nd gear takes real skill to harness, even in the dry. I've taken it up to 140mph and it's clearly still pulling. The gear change from 5th - 6th @ 118mph results in a surge pulling you back even at those speeds. I hope my clutch and gearbox hold out.

  • It's recomended not to bye other chips for your vw/audi than dahlback-chips...I have a golf tdi 130 with a dahlback-chip that gives me 174,5 horsepower. I also have 4 wheel drive (vw calls it 4motion). Someone told me that 4 wheel drive is bad for the acceleration. Anyone who knows?

  • 4 Wheel drive is good for the acceleration at the first meters.

BUT! Its bad for the Max speed.

  • I take it thats why lambos are slow? oh and the gtr that can only do over 190... or the bugatti... must be that 4wd that only lets it do 253...

    you talk utter pish mate

  • are u stupied?! Really... that is a serious question!

A 4 wheel drive transmition have more internal Friction... so its not that good for higher speed...

But if u have a car with 500-1001 Ps it doesnt metter... -.-

They Put 4 wheels drive into that Lambo and The Bugatti because of the better traction (its easier do bring all the power onto the ground with 4 wheel drive) and for better handling...

  • To get to high speeds you need high levels of torque delivered to the wheels, there is no better way than 4wd you tit.

    I suggest the book

    "cars for dummies"

  • Right...for high speed u need very much torgue to the wheels...but hey...u really thing that a 4wd transmision has les friction who waste/destroy/EAT torgue?!

clear... its just one more differential...

Dude... i have got an Suzuki Samurai (fun dirt car)... in this car u can switch from 4wd to 2wd... Vmax with 4wd = 145Km/h...Vmax with 2wd =160km/h

And when u don't believe me... use google... -.-

    fool...

  • Why would i use google?

the Suzuki Samurai isnt exactly aimed at speed. If done right 4wd is 10 times better look at the evo, the gti-r, the gtr, and so on

  • The gtr and the evo doesn't have permanent awd... they just give power to the front wheels when they need them...

At higher speed only the rear wheels are driven...

  • top end the gtr still has 20% at the front

  • man... use your brain!

    its one more differenzial:

    => waste Targue

    => more weight

    => more friction

    U give just stupied examples...

When 4 wheel drive is just the best and 10 times better... why are the Formula 1-, Nascar-,the 6 time in a row Le Mans winner (Audi R10) Topfuelcars etc. all back-wheel-drive?! -.-

  • sry... the R8... the R10 is the first one with Diesel engine who won the Le Mans... however...

  • Regulations, le mans must be rwd, so do f1, not sure about nascar, but then they only drive round in a circle...

  • you know what?! Die stupied like you are now. I don't give a fuck...

If u don't listen to somebody who learn this stuff then i can't help you!

    Its so damn childish...

  • You cant even spell stupid, you idiot!

If you didn't give a fuck you wouldnt have replied!

I never asked for your help, this is you tube not the salvation army.

  • you aint got a clue what your talking about. the benefit of 4wd is better grip when accelerating, that is all.

it adds weight to the car and is another drain on engine power, like air conditioning can be, but much worse. so there are pro's and cons to 4wd, RWD, and FWD.

  • Lol... another you tube expert on cars.

I have never said 4wd was more effiecent, it doesnt 'drain' the power fuck sake it distributes it!! given a few more hp are lost at the fly it is still by far the best way of getting the power on the ground and under propper engineering such as the evo produce more power at the wheels than german RWD counterparts...oh wait i forgot their all going 4wd drive as well... we must all be idiots

  • LOL....another youtube retard.

4wd DOES effectively 'drain' power, it is more load for the engine.

and HP is not lost at the 'fly' as you put it, it is lost at the wheels due to transmission losses, 4wd adds to that.

4wd cars is used for road cars (more grip when accelerating), however it makes the car less efficient, and saps power (its called transmission losses) and adds weight to the car, making it slightly slower. this wont be as noticeable on a 500bhp+ car, but its still there.

  • and german cars arent all going 4wd as you put it, your referring to VW and audi, BMW and Mercedes and Porsche sports cars (which are far better may i add) are RWD. a lot of sports car fans comment that RWD is the 'purest' drive layout and offers the most balance and involvement with the car. Ferrari, BMW, Mercedes, Pagani Zonda, Lotus, Porsche, etc all make purely RWD sports cars.

you know why lamborghini and bugatti are now 4wd? because it makes them tamer and easier to drive

  • the veyron is aimed at super rich arabs and russians, it needs to be reasonably easy to drive. a 1000 BHP rear-drive car is for proper drivers only to handle something like that.

    do you understand now?

  • A 1000 BHP RWD car is completly undrivable and unsafe thats why AMG limit torque on their most powerful cars. Look at the RS4, the RS6 etc

  • please stop with your stupidity! do you just repeat what your mates say/what you hear down the pub?!

AMG cars have torque limiters to protect the transmission primarily. dont you think they would create 4wd cars if that was the best?

and what about te RS4 and RS6? they produce nowhere near the torque of a mercedes sl65 AMG. that also happens to be RWD, as well as the BMW M5, BMW M6.

and for your info - the koenigsegg CCX-R produces 1018 BHP, and guess what? its RWD. stop being dumb.

  • You are a complete idiot with no knowledge of the workings of cars.

  • YOU are the 'complete idiot' u retard, wtf do youknow about cars?! nowt!

nearly everything you said is wrong, i dont know where you got all your information from but you are either speaking to the wrong people, looking at the wrong books, reading the wrong internet articles.

dont be ignorant, listen when people correct you and educate yourself.

  • Ive done 3 4wd drive conversions using rb26dett's, what have you done?

I know from experience, your a silly little boy that thinks he knoes everything where in fact you clearly no fuck all

  • i dont give a fuck what you claim to have done. clearly by your lack of BASIC car knowledge and having it *slowly* explained to you you still just dont get it.

your one of those ignorant pricks who thinks they are always right. not one person here agrees with you, any self respecting car fan would agree with what im saying.

your a fucking loss, and ignorant.

  • do you understand this FACT of physics...??

WHEN THE ENGINE TURNS, IT HAS TO TURN THE FLYWHEEL, THE CLUTCH THEN THE GEARBOX (AND DIFFERENTIAL), THEN THE DRIVESHAFTS, THEN TO THE WHEELS. IF YOU ADD 2 MORE WHEELS TO TURN (4WD) YOU ADD A PROP SHAFT, ANOTHER DIFFERENTIAL, AND 2 MORE DRIVESHAFTS.

THIS SAPS POWER AS THE ENGINE HAS MORE WORK TO DO, IT HAS MORE TO TURN. THE POWER AT THE WHEELS DECREASES.

    ALSO OVERALL WEIGHT INCREASES.

DO YOU UNDERSTAND THIS SIMPLE LESSON IN RWD AND 4WD NOW?

  • let me explain real slowly......

DO YOU UNDERSTAND THIS SIMPLE LESSON IN RWD AND 4WD NOW?

  • the majority of sports cars are RWD, dont count japanese shite, they are not true exotica

  • uh 4wd definitely does drain power. it's good for off the line, but 2wd definitely gets more power on the ground quicker on a roll. of course 4wd is a blessing for getting ahead quickly, and being able to tackle different situations better than 2wd (bumps/dips/uneven ground)

there are pros and cons to both. just gotta decide which is better for you i guess.

take a look at both sides. don't be an elitist asshole and accept that there are good points to both sides.

  • fuck up you bell end

  • your a prize prick, an ignorant prick.

  • giving up are we?

  • lol no, your so fucking thick.

ive explained the facts of 4wd, RWD, there is nothing else to say! if you want to carry on being ignorant its up to you now!

  • Feel sorry for you trying to start internet arguments... should really get a life...

  • feel sorry for you being such a retard...

  • @guitarist1990 i know this comment is old, but at least some one gets it.....pro's and cons of every drivetrain. it was nice to read, every car videos filled with idiots who know absolutely nothing about cars, except for the one they drive. :/

  • @KnyphsEdge Thanks man, I appreciate that. This guy has no idea what he's talking about.

  • When 4 wheel drive is just the best and 10 times better... why are the Formula 1-, Nascar-,the 6 time in a row Le Mans winner (Audi R10) Topfuelcars etc. all back-wheel-drive?! -.-

Formula 1, NASCAR, Le Mans - Regulation requires RWD only

Topfuel - front tires never touch the ground, why bother with AWD

  • ive bought a 2001 golf gt tdi 130 bhp. any ideas on how to increase the power and the cost

  • Get yourself to ChippedUK for a remap. Got a fast road map on my 2002 GTTDi 150 and it's running about 200bhp and 300lb-ft on factory clutch etc. Keeps up with a BMW 335d now in a drag race... Cost about £300 or get an ST3 device like I did and get 2 remaps to change as you wish, plus the original one for about £500.

  • thanks mate, ill look those up, wats a ST3 device?

  • Flash type plug n play device that allows you to change what map you run. I have factory map, an economy map and the fast road map and can swap between any of the 3 in minutes, so all of the benefits of 2 remaps plus factory for dealer work.

  • When my '99 MR2 was being repaired a few months back, I was given a 170bhp GT Tdi as a courtesy car. I was amazed at the acceleration, it felt much quicker than my MR2 (although on paper, the MR2 was equally quick).

In the right gear, at the right time, it felt like it would leave anything standing.

Ive since bought an '02 Ibiza TDi Sport with the 130bhp 1.9 engine from the old Golf GT TDi. I know it's less powerful/torquey but combined with lighter weight it feels almost as quick!

  • The new TDI 170's are quick out the box, most dyno at around 185-190 BHP from new hence the very quick times. They 170 will map to a maximum of 205 due to the DPF so only a small gain from 185 bhp etc but they produce more torque on a remap and a better spread of power.

I timed this car to 60 at 6.4 and 100 at 16.5 - very quick these are TDI 150 remap times.

If it is a DSG car then this also helps with the quick times.

\/ Yeah, I'm sure you can take on a Veron!

  • The only reason diesels have slow 0-60 time is because they cant hook up, i drive an 03 Ford 6.0 and I can take any car in the world if it hooks up

  • Mado' che CHIODIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII sti' NAFTONIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII

  • diesels are only slow when it comes to the bhp count, and 0-60 count. All those extra torques makes a massive difference in anythinng other than a 0-60 sprint. In the real world, a diesel is far quicker than a petrol. Either way, a car the size of the Golf with 170 bhp is going to be fast, even if its a petrol.

  • My Golf IV TDI 150 whuck is 150 kilos lighter and with a tuningbox fitted (187bhp measured) had similar figures to 100mph. Impressive!

  • is this standard, pretty fast 0-100 mph 16.5s

as fast as a focus st or golf gti 200 hp ?

  • its standard with no tweaks - it has bags of torque which makes it pull nicely. Anybody who has one will know what I mean!

  • Very nice and I love the new agre diesels...but that seems to do a 0-100 in about 16 secs which I can't see being right imo Or the 0-60 which is probably 2 seconds quicker than std. It may be 170bhp and have lots of torque but they weigh about 1500kgs

  • no-no-no... my Golf 1,9 TDI 105hk weigh about 1250kg. And I dont believe that a 2,0 TDI 170hk is so much heavier.

  • I have just received delivery of my brand new gt sport tdi 170 and can assure every body that it goes like stink. think of this, an rs turbo was only 130 bhp standard, a 328i bmw is only 180 odd. THINK about it!!

  • Does anyone know if you can remap with DPF (diesel Particulate Filter)present. Heard it can set on fire

  • diesel are slow? my gti tdi 150 was 170 to 175 bhp as standord .a £200 remap takin it to 195bhp + 1 hybrid turbo knockin it up over 200 bhp. next remap can go 240bhp. can admin its quicker than the v5 & v6 golf n still 40 mpg.... :-) hehe

  • there are some dicheads on here! talk about tdi's like there slow! not anymore thay ant!

nice car you got there mate!

look after it,and keep it dub ;)

  • absolutely. And the great thing is, acceleration off the line isn't a diesel's forte...going from, say 50mph to in excess of 120 is where these cars come into there own, phonomenal torque...i think the 170 has 258lbft@2200rpm...which is...alot.

  • yes i agree that is as much torque as an M3 BMW mmmm Torque the hidden power

  • same torque as the new Audi S3. and that thing shifts!

  • Slow

  • it reali isnt i got in 1 tht ma mum had hired and believe me its not slow !

  • very nice m8 im after 1 me self cud do with findin out wot group insurance the 130bhp is any1 no thanx

  • THE 130 IS GROUP 13 MATE

  • i forgot what insurance group this is, i think 13 but i pay 1300 and im 19 and have 3 points on my licence but then does depend on theft rate in your area as but the key factor is age really but someone gonna say im wrong cause everyone always has to believe otherwise, i got 1 years no claims, i never claimed before just passed when 17 and ws out of the country a year inbetween... plus side of this car is MPG is amazing for as fast as it is. hope this info is of some help

  • nice :)

  • Diesels can't rev as high as gasoline engines, it'll blow to pieces if the rpm is too high. Great vid, man. 170ps, 0-100 in 7.9 seconds or even faster...you have a great car.

  • yo, odin82 .... its a TDI and those cut off at arround 5000 rpm and the way they cut off is a bit different than the way gas engines do aiight so he cant "force" the motor more than that except if he chips it... think before writing plz...

  • dont worry it is a new car do not scare of forcing the motor.from the video i understood that you change the gear very early.sisyyyyyyyy

  • its a diesel....rev anymore and its on the govenor = no acceleration.

  • lol, is a diesel, all the tourqe is in the lower revs

  • No, they tend to hit there peak torque low down but if mapped correctly this engne can hold that untill 4,500 before dropping off

  • dont talk on here if you dont know anything. diesels are much more advanced. i have a diesel that will go past most cars i.e corsa vxrs etc. diesels if mapped properly are very fast

  • Yes numpty my comment was backing up diesels, so how about you dont comment unless you know what your talking about, i was replying to the comment that odin82 left saying that he changed gear very early and i simply told him that all a diesels tourqe is in the lower revs. And i know that some diesels are properly fast, my mate has a 130bhp fr ibiza with a ball of tourqe and it will sit up the ass of a vxr corsa. So dont say i dont know anything about cars.

  • u took alot of time writing that. thats quite sad to be honest. and ur friends ibiza wont sit up the arse of a vxr unless its been mapped. my friend has one and they are fast. mine will sit up his arse but my polo has 175 brake not 130.

  • lol ok call it sad if you like, and yea it would sit ryt and tight to a vxr corsa. Why are you arguing with me anyway i was right in the 1st comment i made. And im nt gonna be rude but why did you buy a polo?

  • insurance, i cudnt get insured on a golf. my re mapped polo is quicker anyway than a golf 170. which i like. yes the golf is nice. but my polo is nice too just not a golf. plus it was cheaper.

  • why are you talking about sitting up people's asses? You guys are sick. This is a video about cars, not gay porn. Grow up and stop being silly boys

  • ahaha agreed

  • You have GT-TDI with 170bhp as standard?! is it a MKV? My MKIV TDI has 170 but its not standard. :)

  • yes its a stock mkV gt tdi 170 - be good to remap it the see how it goes!
