"Length: 3500 m, width 14 000m, height, 11 000m." Uh, no. That's over 6 times longer than the CN tower, 25 times wider and 19 times taller. Try again.
If these were used on D day instead of bunkers, than the mobility might have given the advantage to the Germans. Considering they also had anti-aircraft weaponry planned for this vehicle, even planes would have had a hard time. But in the end it depends on how fast it could move and how armour really stood up to fire.
This tank was just a dream. Normal German Tiger tanks were so heavy the barely could drive trough a normal landscape and that was at 57 tons. This would never work it would sink trough the factory floor were it was made.
it is like a giant at gun / base / artlary/ fear factor/tank this thing will draw out so much firepower that the rest of the army fwould take them out so it would be a defnsive wepon so its tacticlly and srtigly brilliant in defence or arrtllary

@wwwtotalitaerde You already spammed your bullshit here multiple times before. It's still just as ridiculous, pathetic and easy to disprove as it was before.
with conventional materials like steel or iron, the germans could never have built a fully functioning tank of this size as the materials are simply too heavy!!!
but with todays materials like titanium etc. it is possible that such a tank can be built to function fully. maybe?
@ddioppp Possibly, if they had changed the weaponry on it, maybe not. A large tank with a landmine wheel, heavier armour, no cannons, more flak and heavy machine guns could have been a mobile command fortification. Fill it full of supplies for the infantry and attach a squad to it.
@ddioppp Hence flak guns. Not to mention since it would not be at the front lines and would blend in to a urban surrounding, it would be hard to pinpoint for a air strike. The point is to carry a surplus of supplies for ground troops and act as a bunker. Meaning that you can occupy a town or vantage point for longer.
@ddioppp for WW2 it was, but i am wondering if it wouldn't be of use today. Imagine in Libya or Afghanistan, one of those monsters, impervious to light AT weapons and anything infantry/rebels can possibly bring. Operating under the NATO, so always with air superiority. Multiple guns to bring fire to different smaller targets while crawling over the battlefield.
@An0niempje No against third world armies and rebels it could work well but against a modern army it would be blown up pretty fast, the airforce would have to work tirelessly to keep that thing safe
@StyrbjornStarke Yes of course, but I was talking about a supportive vehicle in the kind of wars NATO and the USA have been fighting lately. Against a modern army it would be useless, but what real challenges did modern western air forces have to deal with lately?
It could also be useful from psychological point of view: People would be less inclined to join the rebels if they have to fight this kind of huge, invulnerable machines.
@An0niempje you cant compare helicopters and other armoured veichles to this. This veichle barely has any mobility at all. cant operate at all in mountainous areas.
@ddioppp In the old setup it had not, but maybe with modern engines and stuff...
It will still be quite a slow monster, but when it arrives, it will kick ass. Running down a rebel village? No problem. Delivering fire from any position? Sure, who is gonna prevent it from getting there?
@MAXPOWER081 Until you got dirt in your "superior" german weapon and it jammed or worse. While you could drop a russian weapon in the mud and it would still kill many nazis. It is all a matter of perspective.

Communism is expansionist, much more than nazi/fascism,nazis just wanted danzig strait that Poland had and that was German for many centuries, besides the rest of ancient german lands like sudetenland, austria, etc, nazism was wrong in many ways, but Stalin and communism were 100times worse, communism was expansionist and dreams of world domination, they invaded Poland,Finland,3 baltic states and many other,Stalin was waiting for the right time to invade europe as liberator of "fascist tyrany".
if Hitler didn't atack URSS you would be speaking russian and your country would have the people's republic initials,Stalin had an offensive army of tens of thousands of airplanes, tens of thousands of tanks, much much larger than German arsenal and all other arsenals combined, they just weren't prepared for defense.Germany invaded URSS as a defensive strike,Stalin gave Hitler oil and resources so he could destroy europe, then Stalin would invade as liberator and with all opposition gone.
this tank would be totaly useless it would be fucked from the air couple of 500kg bombs on its back and its dead. Second it may have been used as mobile altilery but again how reliuable would it be? Simple day dreaming.
It looks pretty cool but it would have been useless in battle. Too big to go through any obstacles and its a large target for dive bombers and AT cannons.
I'm sure it would of greatly used during the mid 40's. But in todays warfare. All it really takes to kill a tank is an infantryman + AT missile or AT mine or C4.
@gravelandx88 lol, you think a C4 could blow that thing upp ? it would blow the tracks maybe. but not blow the ratte upp. cuz of the thick armor, 150mm to 340mm armor ? you know how thick that is? that is FUCKING THICK!!!
@gravelandx88 of great use? Yeah sureeee......against american air superiority? I think not, its a hillarious concept but NOWAY this would be of any use back then, but all your points are invalid since today it would have depleted uranium as armor...annnnnd infantary got what in their arsenal to combat 340mm of depleted uranium? ._.
The problem with huge tanks is that they cannot move on a lot of surfaces, they cannot use road. they would be too slow to be useable in battles, too easy to hit them. And not to mention: to build a large tank like this, it would cost the resources of several doezn smaller. not to mentioun, fueling them would be a pain in the ass.
the tank seems monstrous.... but that what people said about the Bismark, Tirpitz, Yamato and the Musashi and we all know how that turned out. Fact is the bigger the target the easier it is for airplanes to hit it, if this was ever made then it would just be a sitting duck out there on the battlefield.
This monster would only be feasable if at all? if you had compleat mastership of the air?. It would be open to heavy bomber attack and would just wreck the ground? no road or bridge would take it at the time?. Royal Tigers were the bomb?. If Hitler had listend to others? germany could have had jet fighters in 1940? And Britain would have fallen possibly?. they would have sweaped spitfires from the skys? The British were lucky that Hitler was a fool???.
@royaltiger704 This monster would be aunusable piece of Junk. Royal Tigers were solid tanks but suffered a) by material shortage wich made the armour brittle and b) frontal drive train. I will never understand why german engineers though a frontal drive train was a goodie idea. It makes tanks a lot higher and a lot heavyer without any noticable improvement. Imagine a TigerB with 20cm less height an 10 tons less.
@royaltiger704 The Jets were ready for mass production in 1942, but Hitler insisted that the Me262 should be remodelled to a "Blitzbomber" which, of course, was utter Bullshit.
@HarryKaneHurry You're also forgetting the worlds first intercontinental ballistic missile (V-2) nuclear weapons (They were years ahead of us) and guided missiles. We wouldn't have stood a chance. Thank god Hitler was a retard.
@rvndmnmt1 The Ballistic versions of the V2 were never testfired, im not even sure if prototypes were build before the end of the war. The exact developement state of german nuclear weapons is unknown, but all informations available today show that they were very likely years behind the americans since the leadership didnt saw the potential of nuclear technology.
@HarryKaneHurry No, they wouldn't. First of all, the war drove scientific progress in the allied countries, allowing them to outcompete the Nazis (e.g. the jet engine and the nuclear bomb). VTOL aircraft is something the Nazis maybe dreamed about, but couldn't realise due to their limited resources and manpower, being busy fight a huge war. And how would they get their nuke into the atmosphere, when they couldn't bomb London with the unsophisticated V2 rockets? What do you learn in school ?
@MaximumCrash . The Germans were not out competed they were out numbered. You do realize they fought a war against the world. If they only had to fight against one or even two large nations they would easily have won.
@MaximumCrash The germans were more advanced in Jet and Missile research, Jet research was just hindered by critical material shortage (which drastically reduced the performance and life time of the engines). With missiles... well without von Braun the Americans wouldnt be the first ones on the moon. And the V2 WAS able to hit London. Maybe youre thinking about the V1? With nuclear weapons youre right, the german leadership didnt saw the potential.
@HarryKaneHurry IF, only IF they would have started the developement earlyer. Most of the german developements didnt start before 1941. And a huge fleet of Bismarks would be a waste of ressources. Even if many Admirals didnt believe it at that time: the era of the Battleship was over. Same applies to huge monster tanks which arent efficient in a military environment. Just for propaganda.
@HarryKaneHurry A tank that big would have sunk into the ground and never moved again. The aircraft would have been hard to deal with. A fleet of Bismarcks *shudder* what a freaking nightmare that would've been
@Dante38500 not too sure because Nazi-Germany was building an atomic bomb too so would have depended on who got it first....and yes I´m from Germany but not a Nazi^^
@HarryKaneHurry imagine if they won, we'd probably have all that and more. The yanks just mimic'd what they could off WWII german tech. Nowhere as innovative.
Indeed! Hitler was planning to start the war in 1944, when his huge U-boat fleet would have made UK surrender very quickly. As it was, we came within 2 weeks of going belly-up by mid-war. A close-run thing.
If they use the raw material to made this crap, they would lose the war at 1943 instead of 1945. British and US bombers will use this as target practice all day long
@tibun23 Every Bomb will bounce on that Armour. There are Storys of 500 - 1000 Pound bombs wich bounced on the Armour of the King Tiger, and you think a Airraid could destroy the Ratte? :D
There would be simply NO way to destroy this thing, but it would'nt change the War, even if it would be build, because you cant win a WORLDWAR with only one tank.
and there have been 88mm cannon shells that have not penetrated the hulls of shermen tanks before can an 88 take out a shermen, hell yes this thing would be cannon fodder for an airstrike
@atgskater14 thats what the 15mm guns were for you twit. It did shares some of the same weaknesses of the battleship of it's day. But it still would have been a formidable foe. I mean for crying out loud. The largest tank fielded today is the T-120. A 120 ton tank. This thing would have made mincedmeat out of that.
@rvndmnmt1 I never heard of a T120 tank that is supposed to wieght 120tons. The biggest Tank ever build was the PzKw VII "Maus" at 180tons. Today it stands in Kublinka.
Apart from that: The Ratte would be an unusable piece of junk. It would only serve one purpose: being the PERFECT bomb magnet.
@ArxInvicta Please get a clue. A 500 pound bomb may bounce from a tank when hitting it in a very obscure angle. But there were Bombs FAR bigger then that (several tons with hardened tips for penetration). And if you throw enough tons onto something you dont even need explosives, kinetic energy will do the trick. This thing would be far from invulnerable.
@schwarzie2k You forget one important thing: A 1500 pound bomb ist very effective against a tank, because it is like you throw a car against a child. But now imagine a 1500 pound bomb against a mass of THOUSAND tons of pure steel, this is like you shoot with regular rifle ammunition against a tank. Your kinetic rules may be right, but not against a tank of more than 1000 tons. ;)
well it's a really nice tank. humm i have two of these. i drive the red one saturdays, and i take the other to go to school. yes, the tank is really slow but don't worry, i'm not late at school, cause i don't have problems with traffic, you know.
@TheStahlmesser1 SHUP THAT FUCK UP FUCKING INDIAN!!!! hijo de maldita puta ramera ,INDIO COCHINO CAGADO!!!! YOUR KIND IS JUST FUCKING RETARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
90% of the modern Technic are done by the Nazis! even them Moon landing was done with Nazi Technic... Would u know that the German Tank Division had radiocommunication another thing took from the Germans... and used by the whole world... my point is, we germans are epic!
apart from the fact that the canons are overkill imagine what effect just the view of this thing would have had on enemy troops. i mean a plain tank will scare the shit out of someone but this?
Far too grandiose. Like Maus and E-100, this beastie would never have got out of the factory without sinking; although the ground pressure is only half that of a Tiger I, the sheer bulk of Ratte would have limited its tactical use t olittle more than a mobile pillbox.
Sorry, lads, like many Nazi projects, the designers were overcome with Hitler's enthusiasm for all things impractical.
If the Germans had had time to develop Sturmtiger and Rammtiger, who knows what might have happened? ;-)
now tell me somebody what kind of suspension would he need or how could he pass bridge...germans had big problems with mouse and with suspension, low speed, he was able to pass just few bridges in germany and it construction was bending under it's own weight...so this landkreuzer wasn't built because germans realised that it would have no sense...he would just stand on place and rot...
What kept me watching was the "possibly Hitler". I thought it would tell us in the end. D:

its not retarded, they just did not calculate conventional physics.
At that weight, the tank could never cross roads or bridges.
IN supreme commander 2, the UEF's fortress tank is indirectly based on that concept.
since they are super large in size, they also had to had big guns to bombard from far.
thus reducing the need for close combat with infantry or other tanks.

It looks pretty cool but it would have been useless in battle. Too big to go through any obstacles and its a large target for dive bombers and AT cannons.
dreuly 1 month ago
I'm sure it would of greatly used during the mid 40's. But in todays warfare. All it really takes to kill a tank is an infantryman + AT missile or AT mine or C4.
gravelandx88 1 month ago
@gravelandx88 lol, you think a C4 could blow that thing upp ? it would blow the tracks maybe. but not blow the ratte upp. cuz of the thick armor, 150mm to 340mm armor ? you know how thick that is? that is FUCKING THICK!!!
DranweRagetotem 1 month ago
@gravelandx88 you're talking out of your ass, go play cod or battlefield, both are the same nowadays anyway..
LegionOfPigeon 1 month ago
@gravelandx88 of great use? Yeah sureeee......against american air superiority? I think not, its a hillarious concept but NOWAY this would be of any use back then, but all your points are invalid since today it would have depleted uranium as armor...annnnnd infantary got what in their arsenal to combat 340mm of depleted uranium? ._.
Elenrai 1 month ago
The problem with huge tanks is that they cannot move on a lot of surfaces, they cannot use road. they would be too slow to be useable in battles, too easy to hit them. And not to mention: to build a large tank like this, it would cost the resources of several doezn smaller. not to mentioun, fueling them would be a pain in the ass.
Mickekzon 1 month ago
the tank seems monstrous.... but that what people said about the Bismark, Tirpitz, Yamato and the Musashi and we all know how that turned out.

The British were lucky that Hitler was a fool???.
royaltiger704 1 month ago
@royaltiger704 This monster would be aunusable piece of Junk. Royal Tigers were solid tanks but suffered a) by material shortage wich made the armour brittle and b) frontal drive train. I will never understand why german engineers though a frontal drive train was a goodie idea. It makes tanks a lot higher and a lot heavyer without any noticable improvement. Imagine a TigerB with 20cm less height an 10 tons less.
schwarzie2k 1 month ago
@royaltiger704 The Jets were ready for mass production in 1942, but Hitler insisted that the Me262 should be remodelled to a "Blitzbomber" which, of course, was utter Bullshit.

Thank god WWII didn't started 5 years later.
Else the damn Nazis would have had
-jet planes while the rest of the world wobbles along with double-decker
-huge monster tanks which would stand against 90% of the enemy weapons
-intercontinental rockets
-a fleet of Bismarck battleships along with many submarines
-new VTOL aircraft which the other countries couldn't even imagine
-electronic warfare weaponry like emp
-the most modern armor, target acquisition and encryption
HarryKaneHurry 1 month ago 53
@HarryKaneHurry You're also forgetting the worlds first intercontinental ballistic missile (V-2) nuclear weapons (They were years ahead of us) and guided missiles. We wouldn't have stood a chance. Thank god Hitler was a retard.
rvndmnmt1 1 month ago
@rvndmnmt1 The Ballistic versions of the V2 were never testfired, im not even sure if prototypes were build before the end of the war. The exact developement state of german nuclear weapons is unknown, but all informations available today show that they were very likely years behind the americans since the leadership didnt saw the potential of nuclear technology.
schwarzie2k 1 month ago
@HarryKaneHurry you have to admit that germany has had great potencial before WWII
Ignoranzable 1 month ago
@HarryKaneHurry No, they wouldn't. First of all, the war drove scientific progress in the allied countries, allowing them to outcompete the Nazis (e.g. the jet engine and the nuclear bomb). VTOL aircraft is something the Nazis maybe dreamed about, but couldn't realise due to their limited resources and manpower, being busy fight a huge war. And how would they get their nuke into the atmosphere, when they couldn't bomb London with the unsophisticated V2 rockets? What do you learn in school ?
MaximumCrash 1 month ago
@MaximumCrash . The Germans were not out competed they were out numbered. You do realize they fought a war against the world. If they only had to fight against one or even two large nations they would easily have won.
MrPrincePinocchio 1 month ago
@MaximumCrash The germans were more advanced in Jet and Missile research, Jet research was just hindered by critical material shortage (which drastically reduced the performance and life time of the engines). With missiles... well without von Braun the Americans wouldnt be the first ones on the moon. And the V2 WAS able to hit London. Maybe youre thinking about the V1? With nuclear weapons youre right, the german leadership didnt saw the potential.
schwarzie2k 1 month ago

British and US bombers will use this as target practice all day long
tibun23 2 months ago
@tibun23 You ever heard about something called past tense?
FromThanatosToSol 2 months ago
@tibun23 Every Bomb will bounce on that Armour. There are Storys of 500 - 1000 Pound bombs wich bounced on the Armour of the King Tiger, and you think a Airraid could destroy the Ratte? :D
There would be simply NO way to destroy this thing, but it would'nt change the War, even if it would be build, because you cant win a WORLDWAR with only one tank.
ArxInvicta 2 months ago
@ArxInvicta
and there have been 88mm cannon shells that have not penetrated the hulls of shermen tanks before can an 88 take out a shermen, hell yes this thing would be cannon fodder for an airstrike
atgskater14 2 months ago
@atgskater14 an 88mm shell bounced on a sherman? :D
1 of 1000 Shots, maybe.
ArxInvicta 1 month ago
@atgskater14 thats what the 15mm guns were for you twit. It did shares some of the same weaknesses of the battleship of it's day. But it still would have been a formidable foe. I mean for crying out loud. The largest tank fielded today is the T-120. A 120 ton tank. This thing would have made mincedmeat out of that.
rvndmnmt1 1 month ago
@rvndmnmt1 I never heard of a T120 tank that is supposed to wieght 120tons. The biggest Tank ever build was the PzKw VII "Maus" at 180tons. Today it stands in Kublinka.
Apart from that: The Ratte would be an unusable piece of junk. It would only serve one purpose: being the PERFECT bomb magnet.
schwarzie2k 1 month ago

Your kinetic rules may be right, but not against a tank of more than 1000 tons. ;)

DEATH TO BARBARIC Germany. SON OF WHORE ASS GERMANO-BARBARIAN
unfukkkmee 2 months ago
Far too grandiose. Like Maus and E-100, this beastie would never have got out of the factory without sinking; although the ground pressure is only half that of a Tiger I, the sheer bulk of Ratte would have limited its tactical use t olittle more than a mobile pillbox.
Sorry, lads, like many Nazi projects, the designers were overcome with Hitler's enthusiasm for all things impractical.
If the Germans had had time to develop Sturmtiger and Rammtiger, who knows what might have happened? ;-)
drcurv 2 months ago
now tell me somebody what kind of suspension would he need or how could he pass bridge...germans had big problems with mouse and with suspension, low speed, he was able to pass just few bridges in germany and it construction was bending under it's own weight...so this landkreuzer wasn't built because germans realised that it would have no sense...he would just stand on place and rot...
