  • how was this in augaust 2009, thats too late to be building

  • is this a new episode of lost?

  • You want to see every game on live from the comfort of your home ? watch them here

    watch?v=0mqgQliWK1I

  • it was the door that failed, not the shaft itself

  • One of those construction workers messed up one of Cauldrons. :D His name was Tony...his reaction after: "Hey wadda do you want from me-ya, huh?"

  • yah sucks that the cauldron shaft failed.

  • team 1200 -- is right - Canada Rules---he forgot some things--Canada invented ---basketball---,snowmobiles---,the world war 1 winning (walking barrage)which broke the stailmate in the trenches saving millions of lives

  • @sasktank and lacrosse too :)

  • hatch failed,

  • I doubt the flame will be there in the ground.. I do agree they're putting in a platform for something during the ceremonies though...

Everyone must remember that the IOC requires the flame to be visible from the city around the stadium. To me its obvious what they'll do: Remove part of the fabric roof in a dramatic display, exposing the flame to downtown Vancouver.

Totaly plausible since they're putting a new roof on the place anyway.

  • they didnt say they were putting it in the ground, look at what they did in calgary, a platform rose up from the ground, they lighted it and it kept going straight up through the room

  • the stadium's fabric roof is held up by air pressure, if the put a hole in it for the flame the roof would collapse.

  • WRONG, that would be like putting a display hole in a balloon , not going to happen.

  • @leksicon1 how do you mean? i dont know much about these roofs at all, but maybe if you remove one part of the roof the whole roof will come down. idk

  • @leksicon1 like it needs to be on all the way. about a year ago in a wind storm the roof ripped alittle and all the air supporting it went out, causing it to callapse. the roof opening anywhere would probably have the same results

  • facts from previous venues of the winter olympics per capacity!!!

    2010 vancouver 60,000

    2006 Torino 27,995

    2002 Salt Lake City 45,000

    1998 Nagano 30,000

this are just facts!! not mere emotion!! LOL

  • typical youtube fights and sarcasm

  • You're all wrong ... I heard from an inside source VANOC is going to kill two birds with one stone and torch the entire dome so America can see it in Seattle, plus make it easier to apply the new retractable roof this spring.

  • i guess jrockstarting is an idiot!!! H doesnt know what he is talking about!!! LOL!!

  • yeah.. i guess this venue is the biggest of the winter olympics opening so far.. im hoping also that the opening ceremonies will be great and breathtaking.. But that is just a bonus for us sports enthusiast, what really is important is the unity and friendship that is shared by athletes in vancouver.. no argument about that.. and that is the essence of the olympics.. big stadium or small, magnificient or not. its not important,. lets just hope for the best...

  • your right ramosodon. lets just hope for the best. No more arguing guys.

  • lol that's all youtube users do is FIGHT and BITCH

  • Bob Mackin is a first class idiot for airing this. Do you know how many construction workers are in there who could have also shot the same video... but didn't (as they apparently have more integrity than Mr. Mackin). All in the name of self-interest Bob Mackin doesn't care if he ruins the surprise for over 3 billion people while thousands (with access to B.C. Place) work hard to maintain the element of surprise. Way to go, Bob.

  • what difference does it make how big or small the arena is for the ceremonies and events.

watch it at home on television

  • what a small stadium for an event as large as the olympics

  • i wouldnt call 60000+ small

  • China - 91,000

    London - 80,000

    Atlanta - 85,000

    Brazil - 90,000

Vancouver 60,000. Yes I would call Vancouver small compared to other recent venues.

  • watever, we got a roof on the joint which will make the atmosphere even MORE electric,.quality over quantity.

  • dont hate cuz you have a small arena.

  • Everything you listed is summer olympics. Winter olympics are almost always smaller:

    Torino - 35000

    Salt Lake City - 40000

So 60000 is actually fairly large

  • @xtole those are summer game numbers you are saying this is the winter game remember.

    Torino 27,995

    Salt Lake City 45,000

    Nagano 30,000

i think Vancouver is going to top the winter games numbers

  • but this is WINTER Games... not SUMMER..

  • @xtole what difference does it make if vancouver's stadium is small

    wow you are judgemental

  • those are all SUMMER venues.

    Torino's capacity was 28,000.

    Your argument is invalid.

  • there is more country who participated in summer olympics, this is winter olympics stupid its bigger than all the others WINTER stadium.

  • Small brain for a dumb ass person

(Canada the 2nd largest country in the world)

  • big deal. most of the land mass are useless (like the people there) and unhabitable

  • Were useless??? Canada created the Blackberry, we send you guys Oil, Electrcity and water, we invented the telephone, insulin, the telephone, Television, pacemakers, washing machiences, microscopes, the Canadarm (arm used to transport things in space), IMAX, Wireless Radio, Jetliner, electric light bulbs and countless other Canadian invention you use, not knowing its Canadian, Canada is the USA's largest trade partner, u need us, we dont need u, u need our water, gas and electricity.
