Archie Bunker is like Harry Callahan on film: If it wasn't for the 60's they would of not been created in the 70's to express their feelings on the way life should be.
Archie Bunker is like Harry Callahan on film: If it wasn't for the 60's they would of been created in the 70's to express their feelings on the way life should be.
WARNING: The faked suicides are all done by a trained old man who's had enough of his wife's inane stories. Do not try this in public, unless you want to look like a loon.
@1:20 Archie is upset because he just discovered that Mike sat in his chair - & broke it. So Edith had it sent to Kressler's Department Store for repairs. However, there was a mixup so it ended up in a junk pile that an artist picked up to use in his American Gothic exhibit in a museum. (This was the final show with Archie's chair in it; this was also a clever tie-in to Archie & Edith's chairs being donated to the Smithsonian Institute).
At 1:53 Edith mentions her cousin Maude, and Archie responds "MUUUUAAAAADDE" (he always pronounced Maude's name like he was passing a gallstone as he said it). The best part about these bits was that Edith would almost always continue to with her story, completely oblivious to Archie's "suicide".
I seriously can't stop laughing... I love All in the Family, and Carrol O Connor and Jean were just an awesome team... I love Jean- She's the "ideal" grandma, reminding me of my own. Carrol actually reminds me of my grandpa too... Thanks for posting- The music really makes the moments come to life!
My favorite one is the "Pills & Booze" overdose one. I just caught that one on TVLand today while I was having lunch. Archie Bunker has taught me well how to respond non verbally to people who either get on my nerves or just piss me off.. LMAO!!! I laughed so hard at the end of this episode. Edith Versus the Bank.
i loved this show! And I miss it!! Sad that Caroll O'Connor passed on...some of my favorite episodes are of when Maude comes over, and when he and Sherman Hempley (sp teehee) got together! LMAO and...oh hell have lotsa favorites
Oh, these are priceless! I remember seeing the Russian roullette one when I was little and thinking it funny then. Still makes me bawl outloud with laughter now, especially the facial expressions Carroll O'Connor makes when doing them. Fucking brilliant! Thanks!
I do that when my older sister goes on and on and on about Twilight. She knows I don't care about the book or the movie yet she balbers on about it to me like I do care, SHIT!!!! How many ways can I kill myself.
Especially when Archie takes time to open the cylinder of the "revolver", take a "bullet" out of his pocket and load the "gun", point at his head - not just once, but three times!
The best part of these scenes was that Edith would just go on and on, so involved in her story that she never even noticed that Archie was "hanging" himself. LOL
Oh man, Carrol O'Connor was the best with those facial expressions of his and even without the soundtrack I could still hear him saying, "Maaauuuuude!" in my head plain as day.
Oh my gosh, this is the best, thanks so much! My siblings and I still do these Archie impressions from time to time to crack each other up. Classic stuff!
i am married to a ding-bat also archie....you are not alone!!! lol, i have done similar things numerous times...but it never works!!!!lol,,,great vid!
I think I'd want to commit suicide if I was married to Edith. He's right, she really is a dingbat. I can't imagine having to hear that screaching voice of her's after a hard day's work.
wow great job, All in the Family was the best sit com in history...case closed...thats the truth.....Barney Miller holds a special place in my heart.....but archie was the best................
Carroll O'Connor was the best! Are the titles the actual episode titles? I've been looking for the scene from "Mike and Gloria Meet". Was this from Season 1? Thanks - great memories!!
Hi there, glad you enjoyed the video, he truely was the best. Yes these titles are the actual titles of the episodes. The episode "Mike and Gloria meet" is actually from season 8. Although i'm sure i can see your confusion, the picture on the DVD box for the first season right? Hope this helps!
I'm sure, you see Mike and Gloria did leave in season 8 but during the last episode, the three final episodes of that season were based on them leaving to California, (some of my fave episodes) and then seaon nine starts off with them gone and Steaphine coming to live with the Bunkers.
Yes, Meathead and Gloria left at the end of the 1977-78 season; the show lasted one more season (1978-79) as AITF (where Archie and Edith take in little Stephanie), and then morphed into "Archie Bunker's Place" for the 1979-80 season.
I love the Alla Turca, but it somehow doesn't fit with the many suicides of Archie Bunker....

The music over the dialog ruins it. Why would this need editing??? OH, THAT'S RIGHT, it didn't.
