I've seen P-nut's signature basses (I and II) and he has passive pickups mounted on the bass with an 18vlt active preamp.

So, it's possible to get an active sound with passive pickups so long as they have a circuit?

I've owned a few Warwick's, the one I have now is a Streamer LX-5 with the wenge neck, (older model) you can't get that neck anymore. I paid more for it just for the neck. I still like the Thumb basses too though. I had a FL and a fretted 5 sting, and a Fortress 4, wish I'd kept all of them! ;-D

Apparently none of you have heard P-Nut on his own. He is pretty out of this world. Just because he doesn't throw every gay as hell flair out on every song like Wooten, doesn't mean he sucks. Go listen to him on his SWR sampler stuff. Its sweet as hell.

P.S. I was managing the guitar floor at Guitar Center when these things came out. All I have to say is that bass is way bad ass compared to the regular stage 2 as far as "usable" tones go, be it P-Nuts sig. bass or not.
