BC has been ranked in the top 5 in rush defense (including #1 a couple times) and interceptions over the past few years. So BC's defense actually is pretty good. BC puts O and D lineman in the NFL, that's what they do, so the two things they are usually pretty good at are rushing the ball and defending the rush. BC had actually sacked Vick on the play before this (would have made it 4th down) but the play was blown dead on a false start
