Indeed trumpet! He is an awesome character. I think that Nan freed Russell and went to capture Bill and Eric as a peace offering to him so I could see them battling him again next season. Don't forget Eric killed Russell's lover in season 3, then burried him in concrete and silver. Hard to make amends after that. All speculation but I can't wait till next season!!

If you look up his entry on the True Blood wiki it says his real name is an ancient celtic word for raven. Now where that came from I am not sure.
