but when capacitors hold more power per wieght they will remove batteries as they don't chemically react just store power until discharged, not lasting 1000uses but millions, or billions of uses slow or fast charge. One step closer from batteries to high capacity light storage using no oxygen or resources in use except an electrical charges.

new capaictors are the altimate emergency power storage, as no reactions are needed to hold power.

Capacitors will hold the smallest of charging or largest of power applied to charge or release slowly, Instantly or inbetween.. Power from electric braking could be Mostly absorbed and used later unlike batteries. and no chemical changes. Compaired to a battery that generates heat, reaction loss, slow charge rates, etc.. these of course are not perfect but could power your phone as sure as a battery. Some imagination and thought with good stuff as it is the future. It only fails if you must.

Feltoys. if i understand you correctly, you are saying why use this instead of turbines and hydropower...

the simple answer is that, sometimes the wind dont blow or a storm blows up and shuts things down. energy storage methods are of vital importance if we will ever get off of fossil fuel dependence. ultra capacitors are just one method currently being investigated.

@imaginacion2009 it is currently not possible to get off of energy dependence. i wish it was.

to do so means to live as a homeless bum, since they are really the only ones who depend on just their environment to live now days.

the only option is to find a clean and cheap way to produce energy. that, or start a nuclear war to decimate the population so that the few who survive can go back to living off the land. i think they're working on that in Copenhagen as we speak. rotfl!
