Interesting thoughts, I need to look up Petra. It seems though that the tribulation occurs after the King of the North or South comes to it's end, because Daniel 12:1 says, the verse right after the king goes down, that 'Michael stands up, and that the tribulation begins, and that only those written down in the book escape. I also need to say that Edom is a nation that sprang from Esau, so Edom could also be symbolic in some way, of not being part of Christendom, the straying "Jews".

Actually, while the teaches that the antichrist will have power all ober the earth, it is also true that the bible that God commands to hide during the tribulations (Isaiah 26:20).

In regard to leave Babylon, there is also a similar command given by God. in Jeremiah 50 or 51.

I think you mean the word "city" indicates a "city" not a "country". But, there are two crucial issues here:

1) In the time the NT was written, and previously, empires were represented by the capital city (e.g., the Roman Empire), or for example today Europe, politicians refer to Europe as Brussels.

2) This interpretation is plausible as Is.13:5 refers to "the country" or otherwise translated "the whole land".

If you claim that a city is simple a city, you need to resolve the contradiction with Is 13:5 and Jer. 50:23, Jer 51:9 Jer 51:41.

The semantics of city and country are used interchangeably when describing Babylon. In effect, some of the attributes described by Jeremiah make no sense to apply it to a city, thus suggesting the use of the word "city" as it is usually done with empires. The description of Jeremiah is the one of a military empire.

One more verse considering the word "City" we find that Peter in reference to Rome called the city Babylon

Taking the word "City" out of the context, it is misleading. As I said, if that is your reason to believe that Babylon is a city, then it is quite weak as u should interpret the attributes of Babylon given by Jeremiah, Isaiah and other prophets.
