Modern multiblade razors are trash! I use my good old safetyrazor. It gives a much better shave and very important its much cheaper. A blade cost me about 20 eurocents each instead of 2 or 3 euro for a fusion power or Mach 3 razor blade.

converter from those awefull multi-blade shavers to DE-razor, an old ''Gillette Knack Razor, Long Handle'' 1970's from my late grandfather..... still an amature, but can allredy feel the difference (and its cheaper)!!!

And the best is that it is a part of my heritage!!!

check out the rotoshaver its cheap but its very good concept (needs a better case and wider avialable places to purchase blades).

Also i hear a company is developing a laser sonice shaver? yeah apparantly you need only shave 1 a week or gradually kill of facial hair comming soon

"A black plastic handle." What a comedy act this is. You want a close shave? Use a good electric shaver. Shave against the grain, with no cuts! Very important, if you have to wear a dress shirt to work everyday. You don't want blood stains on your dress shirt collar, so use a good electric shaver.

A blade razor always gives a closer shave than an electric razor. Electrics are good for convenience. That's pretty much it.

I agree...Also in fact they are proven to actually cause more ingrown hairs (own experience) because of the "tug and pull" of the multi-blade cartridges.

Safety blades are the only way to go. :)

I used a DE Merkur for for 2 weeks. What a masacre. It looked like I got shot in the face with birdshot every other morning. I may as well have used a box cheese grater.

It takes many months to master a DE - also the blades themselves matter a lot - Merkur blades eat my face, but there's many other brands to try and eventually the shave will be LESS red and irritated than however you're currently shaving.

Yes, that's right. Shaving after a hot shower, where you soak your face and leave some liquid soap on there for 5 minutes or so, drastically softens the beard and makes it easier to cut. Shaving dry hair without preparation is quite hard on your skin.

You're welcome. Truth be told, I have ditched wet shaving altogether and have latched onto my electric razor. The Norelco with the Nivea lotion dispenser. NO cuts, absolutely NO irritation, and once you complete the 4 week transition phase, it's just as close as a blade shave. My face has never been healthier. I prep my face the same as with a blade shave, only I dry it off completely after the shower. Truly a joy to use, I may never use a blade again.

Actually you can get just as close a shave before the shower. Boil some water, get some hot water on the skin, throw a little pre-shave oil on your beard. That softens and hydrates better than just soap&shower could ever do on its own. Then you can jump in the shower afterwards and rinse all that scuzz off your face and neck.

Everyone is different, I suppose. This, however, doesn't work for me. I've tried it all, pre-shave oil included. My beard is such that unless I stand and let it soak in a hot shower, I'll need an entire styptic pencil afterwards.

ive been using the gillette fusion power for months now and i just tried schick quattro titanium and i gotta say.... alot more comfortable shave and some what smoother. best shave you can get tho is from a single blade barber style

Yeah, the fusion is the best razor ever.

It gets just as close as my DE in half the time/effort.

However, you really need that battery powered vibration for it to be effective. Without the vibration it shaves like shit.
