Hi thanxs for the videos. I got these triggers now. But what would you recommend in terms of set up for 4 mounted toms, 4 floor toms (2 left and 2 right side), plus an extra high hat?
@LUCELAN holy shit are you retarded. axis does not make a pedal that is opposite. all the pedals are the same. get some education on the pedals before you go insulting people over the internet
Sorry bro but I literally just switched from Axis X to Trick Pro1 V and the Tricks definitely hit harder. My roommates concurred. They also feel lighter. I know - sounds ridiculous - but unless my endurance magically increased by about two thirds at the same moment I'm working less hard. In fairness they are bigfoots and the Axis weren't.
i use pearl eliminator demon drive, because these have more features and are better produced. and on thomann are more negative comments at the axis pedals. i like pearl
but axis is good too (especially for very extreme drummers like INGESTED.. that's badass, not like this fag joe jordison)
uhmmm not trying to be an ass but wouldnt they all sound the same according to how the person kicks it wouldnt it be the same if u kick one hard and the other hard the same amount of power is going into it...
Whatever pedals you have, axis (which i have used and don't like... my opinion), tricks, pearls, tamas...WHATEVER... it isn't the pedals that make the player.. fuck the pedals...
You know why i don't like axis pedals, yeah sure they are fine as a single, but with a double.. (for all you dumb shits living for axis pedals) grab the two beater posts and give them a wiggle... Notice that? It is called shit universal joints, creating weakness on the slave pedal.
@170adamb That is pretty much the point of this video. At the time some years ago people were going on and on about how they're weak etc. and really they're just pedals. No one argues about which bicycle has the most power do they? These pedals really benefit from picking out beaters with the appropriate mass that you enjoy slamming into your kick.
@andy15m374l lol us drummers get far to concerned about the nuts and bolts of our "art form" we should spend more time playing our instruments than worrying about which make of pedals are the best, though I openly admit i'm as guilty of this as the next man
But still, he was a big endorser when he had them. Also, check out freedrumlessons, video about double bass techniques (the 51:00 one). The guy on the left with the purple bass drum used axis longboard double pedals.
They also did a double pedal review/comparison, and it ranked up there with the DW 9000.
But Chris Adler still used them, even if he currently doesn't. Pro drummers like that don't use shitty equipment. Fact that he changed means nothing.
@rizzdrums4life im guessing your a Pearl enthusiast or a die hard DW guy. either way i do have to disagree with you on multiple things. 1. Other people's taste in music vary a lot because everyone's different, so it's really impossible to say anyones got horrible taste in music because well, they listen to they want to hear. So to them, they have good taste. 2. Axis are actually very powerful if you have them set up right and are playing them like a longboard, not a shortboard. It is different.
@rizzdrums4life Oh! losers without musical taste use them! man, i better go return those to...OH WAIT! There's countless adjustments you can make to give you more power? Ohhhh Stupid me! :D
@rizzdrums4life have you even looked into the skill of his playing? The guy is fucking beast not only is he jazz influenced but he also plays very well! The guy is a natural and makes drumming look effortless.

@andy15m374l You don't need small feet to be able to do heel toe. I can do it on my pedals and I've just got an ordinary pedal. The technique actually doesn't involve hitting the pedal with your heel, it's the motion of falling back onto your heel. Whether you have size 5 feet or size 15 feet it doesn't matter in the slightest.
Is it really recommandable getting double bass pedals? i really want some, but still, i just bought a kit with single bass. And i am new to drumming. Want to play in the hard-rock/metal genre.
@ZePerfectionist It's something that you should definitely get into, but not necessarily right now. There are plenty of things to learn before expanding to double bass. You should probably learn to play a good many things and get comfortable with the instrument and then add it in.
@andy15m374l agree when i started playing i got a pearl ref with 2 bass drums was cool and all but i lost alot and had to focas on learning how to use my hi hats correct and this slowed me down and also you will have to change between you double bass and hi hats and this is hard to do if your not comfortable with you left leg or right if your left handed
@ZePerfectionist he's rite, you should learn single bass first before you work your other foot in because i know some people, that cant play single bass at all because of jumping rite away into double
I never understood why people use two bass drums. They're never going to be tuned the same, therefore your bass sound is always going to be horrible. Plus, you're wasting tons of money on a completely unneeded drum. The entire idea is just stupid to me.
@blueburnsred FYI, back in the '60's & 70's through most of the '80's and into into the early '90's there was no such thing as a "double pedal". This was the 'sensible' alternative. There's pros and cons to using a double bass set up, tuning is a con, but power and volume is definitely a pro. However, with devices like drum dials and notched or "fixed" drum keys, tuning is much easier.
@blueburnsred two bass drums is nice when playing faster double bass...if mic'ed for a live performance or in the studio it can reduce a lot of muddy noise...since the drum head continues to vibrate between kicks it makes extra noise...two bass drums makes the kicks more distinct and clear...but not necessary if you aren't very fast...and if you're playing them fast enough the tuning isn't going to be very noticeable to the human ear
@gotM3T4L Hm. I suppose it's just a personal preference. I just know that it would drive me crazy to have my double bass to sound way different like the kid in the video. His are horribly different.
I just spent $1200 on an axis doublepedal and it's money well spent. axis are ridiculously easy to get both speed and power from. thanks for posting this
so i see you have the A model but i was thinking about getting the X's. iv played both but very quickly and didn't have time to mess with the drive lever. the a's cost quite a bit more (used x's are 300 and a's are about 500 on craigslist in my area) so i want to know if in your option its worth 5 or 6 more months with my beat to hell falling apart iron cobras until i can get the money for the A's or if the x's are good. I think i want them, i just want a second option.thank you so much!
I notice that some drummers flip there foot pedals hammer so that the cushion is not hitting the drum head and the plastic hard part of the hammer is hitting the head.
Does this increase the ease to kick faster? and Is it used to have a different kick tone?
@ReasonableRam That's a good way to break your heads, not because of the harder material, but because of the shape. Good kick drum heads are nearly invincible, but that will do them in. If you want a more intense sound try the Iron Cobra beaters with different materials like wood and and rubber.
@andy15m374l most beaters are two way beaters actually. tht means they design it so u can use both sides. the felt side has a softer sound, its not as punchy. the plasic side has a really crisp punchy sound. its just like sticks. if u evr use sticks with like felt tips, it sounds way different compared to wood sticks
@forter24 yeah bad sound if you are use to triggers or only play dw drums that your parents got you........ If you have problems with the axis pedals....and if your not a person that likes to argue or make a big deal, good luck trying to get the Axis Company to help you because that is what you have to do.
I got some old axis pedals (not longboards) on craigslist for 200. The owner said he had them for about 6 years and there still prime. Only a couple of the bearings are worn out but they still shred.
@toyotadrummer You can send them to the factory and pay to have them refurbished last time I checked. That's where they change all the bearings and then you're good to go for another decade.
Actually i had two bass drums and all the second one did was get in my way so i went bak to single with a double bass pedal and that seems to work better
pedals don't have power, drummers do or don't. and btw it's great to have all the name calling here. it's really helpful and fosters a community spirit.

@andy15m374l agree when i started playing i got a pearl ref with 2 bass drums was cool and all but i lost alot and had to focas on learning how to use my hi hats correct and this slowed me down and also you will have to change between you double bass and hi hats and this is hard to do if your not comfortable with you left leg or right if your left handed
lambinoe 10 months ago
@ZePerfectionist he's rite, you should learn single bass first before you work your other foot in because i know some people, that cant play single bass at all because of jumping rite away into double

in my opinion the strike form these axis pedals is weaker than from for example the Gibraltar intruder pedal which has a bigger and heavier head.
ejnarm3 11 months ago
@ejnarm3 You can put any beaters on it. There are a lot of choices like the Tama ones I use, Danmar etc.
andy15m374l 11 months ago
dood, u have REALY thin feet. like it almost seemed like u wer missing ties on ur right foot o.O
4stringFanatico 11 months ago
I never understood why people use two bass drums. They're never going to be tuned the same, therefore your bass sound is always going to be horrible. Plus, you're wasting tons of money on a completely unneeded drum. The entire idea is just stupid to me.
blueburnsred 11 months ago
@blueburnsred the positioning helps it work alot easier , plus double kick pedals tend to move alot as you play
adozenlies97 11 months ago
@blueburnsred FYI, back in the '60's & 70's through most of the '80's and into into the early '90's there was no such thing as a "double pedal". This was the 'sensible' alternative. There's pros and cons to using a double bass set up, tuning is a con, but power and volume is definitely a pro. However, with devices like drum dials and notched or "fixed" drum keys, tuning is much easier.
gabe956 11 months ago
@blueburnsred two bass drums is nice when playing faster double bass...if mic'ed for a live performance or in the studio it can reduce a lot of muddy noise...since the drum head continues to vibrate between kicks it makes extra noise...two bass drums makes the kicks more distinct and clear...but not necessary if you aren't very fast...and if you're playing them fast enough the tuning isn't going to be very noticeable to the human ear
gotM3T4L 11 months ago
@gotM3T4L Hm. I suppose it's just a personal preference. I just know that it would drive me crazy to have my double bass to sound way different like the kid in the video. His are horribly different.

I just spent $1200 on an axis doublepedal and it's money well spent. axis are ridiculously easy to get both speed and power from. thanks for posting this
bastidador 1 year ago
I think its because this guy has danvars , and danvars increase the power of the sound ALOT
noconflictbanana 1 year ago
@noconflictbanana Those are Iron Cobra felt beaters, not danvars. I'm pretty sure of that at least.
godofnature5 11 months ago
@godofnature5
No , a danmar is that white thing that he pasted on the bass drum to make the sound louder. Not the beater

so i see you have the A model but i was thinking about getting the X's. iv played both but very quickly and didn't have time to mess with the drive lever. the a's cost quite a bit more (used x's are 300 and a's are about 500 on craigslist in my area) so i want to know if in your option its worth 5 or 6 more months with my beat to hell falling apart iron cobras until i can get the money for the A's or if the x's are good. I think i want them, i just want a second option.thank you so much!

One questions I always had:
I notice that some drummers flip there foot pedals hammer so that the cushion is not hitting the drum head and the plastic hard part of the hammer is hitting the head.
Does this increase the ease to kick faster? and Is it used to have a different kick tone?
I'm sure it's some combination of both.
ReasonableRam 1 year ago
@ReasonableRam That's a good way to break your heads, not because of the harder material, but because of the shape. Good kick drum heads are nearly invincible, but that will do them in. If you want a more intense sound try the Iron Cobra beaters with different materials like wood and and rubber.
andy15m374l 1 year ago
@andy15m374l
Yea that's what I've always thought too. Though I've seen it don't on many occasions. Very strange.
ReasonableRam 1 year ago
@andy15m374l Yeah i broke 3 or 4 bass heads doing that before i smartened up lool
TSMColby 1 year ago
@andy15m374l most beaters are two way beaters actually. tht means they design it so u can use both sides. the felt side has a softer sound, its not as punchy. the plasic side has a really crisp punchy sound. its just like sticks. if u evr use sticks with like felt tips, it sounds way different compared to wood sticks
nickbmx7 11 months ago
@ReasonableRam you may have seen a beater with a padded side and a plastic side that u can swivel around.
dylan529 1 year ago
@ReasonableRam some pedals have a plastic side that is the same shape as the felt side so you can use the plastic side for more attack

idriell 1 year ago
@forter24 yeah bad sound if you are use to triggers or only play dw drums that your parents got you........ If you have problems with the axis pedals....and if your not a person that likes to argue or make a big deal, good luck trying to get the Axis Company to help you because that is what you have to do.

@huck787 The camera wasn't shaking, that just happens when I play. Time and space become unstable and start to collapse.

It's all about the weight/length of the beater and the length of the board. period.
mprimecoleman 1 year ago
do they break easy?
xXAlecXxC 1 year ago
@xXAlecXxC No. The sonic hammer beaters are a mess. Once you do away with those the rest of the pedal will last years and years.
andy15m374l 1 year ago
@andy15m374l Any type of beater will do instead of the sonic ones?

I got some old axis pedals (not longboards) on craigslist for 200. The owner said he had them for about 6 years and there still prime. Only a couple of the bearings are worn out but they still shred.
toyotadrummer 1 year ago
@toyotadrummer You can send them to the factory and pay to have them refurbished last time I checked. That's where they change all the bearings and then you're good to go for another decade.

Actually i had two bass drums and all the second one did was get in my way so i went bak to single with a double bass pedal and that seems to work better
