  • the most amazing thing is that marker keeps on showing up when she folds

  • AMAZING! Great video! Great model! Thanks so much! i very much enjoyed making this!

  • I made the knl dragon, the jack in a box, the tree frog by lang, and a lot of these complex models

But should i be able to make this?

  • @NVorigami YES!!! OF COURSE MAN :D

  • What ratio or proportion is the paper?

  • @joshovideos It's 3 by 1 - after cutting off the thin strip, the ratio is 2 7/8 by 1.

  • Sara, where can i get that paper your using and the size?,thanks!

  • @marvel2326 I used wrapping paper (Kraft paper) in this video. It's widely available in Germany, and actually of a nice quality for folding. I know that the paper isn't as available in other countries, but perhaps you can see whether some of the wrapping paper that's available where you live is also good for folding.

  • For anyone that wants to skip the initial strip cut, here is some help. Using 45X15 as an example. The first square is 15X15. Folding to an eighth of that is 1/8*15= 15/8 or 1 7/8. In other words, for any sheet of paper, determine what an eighth of the smaller side is, and remove a strip that wide.

  • @GwenKimDacones Yes. Check supplies . britishorigami . info - it's in the booklet BOS010 (Neal Elias Selected Works 1964-1973)

  • @AdamsSara vos podes subir un video de una de las obras de robert j. lang???

  • @belenbernal498 Check jonakashima's channel for a video on the songbird in ODS.

  • @boffyful I've folded this model from wrapping paper (Kraft paper, actually), tissue foil, laminated paper (Neal Elias' choice the time of creation) and some lower quality stuff. So, yes, this model can be folded from different kinds of paper.

  • why do u hav to cut the bit of at the start

  • @Qazpunk2234 You can also start with a sheet of paper that has a ratio of 1 by 2 7/8. I start with ratio 1 by 3, and then cut of 1/8th to get 1 by 2 7/8, because I think it's easier that way.

  • @GwenKimDacones I mean the paper is three times as long as wide.

  • what kind of paper are you using here? looks really nice.

  • It's actually some really cheap wrapping paper (at least cheap in terms of origami paper). It's sold in Germany in some super markets, and is essentially heavy Kraft paper (if that means anything to you).

  • whoa thats like some magic dot poppin paper but this one is really cool

  • why two females?

  • I'm not sure, maybe someone wanted to fold the model for a lesbian couple?

  • Comment removed

  • @AdamsSara lesbian couple? umm kind of inappropriate but sorry for that excuse

  • @iMatthew32 how is it inappropriate?

  • @Origamisarah Sorry I have no clue what happened but my brother went on my accoun and went crazy or something. He must've posted that.

  • if you do the box pleating for the first time, its very hard.just have some patience and keep trying!

  • ah can you show it to me in origami paper '' square'' please

  • cool

  • Quite a nice instruction! Just folded it, but I just have plane white paper in that size here around. Where can I get large-sized origami paper, at the best black/white? Want to do one for a wedding of a friend :D

btw, you have a very neat voice ;)

  • You can try getting white and black tissue, and gluing it together with methyl cellulose. If you glue black tissue - foil - white tissue you should probably be able to shape the model better, and the white might pop a bit more. Not sure, haven't tried, but that's my best guess.

  • I've just folded it white/foil/black. Fantastic result! the hands keep holded together much easy and the white skirt shines a little because of the foil beneath

  • Do you think there is a way to make it two females. I guess you could try to do mirrors of each other but it wouldn't work out right.

I'm trying to think of something for my Aunts' 10th aniversary

  • With minor modifications (and longer paper) you should be able to make two females.

  • Hi Sara....... thank you. One thing that you have omitted is the inside fold of the man's leg to make him look as if he is in mid step.

I am going to try to make this tonight........ keep your fingers crossed.

  • Ah, I guess it's a finishing touch. But yes, I forgot. You can see it on the picture of my fold at the beginning of the video, though. :)

  • Yes! Thanks Sara! I've had the right paper on hand for a while, but I forgot how to make this model

    :D

  • It is good alternative for the traditional ceramic "bride and groom" on a wedding cake, specially if the woman is made with the white side of the paper XD

  • i have one question:

are u reading the book of Nick Robinson

    "The Encyclopedia of Origami"?

becuz i just noticed that almost all of ur origami designs have in my book

    :-)

  • That must be coincidence, I don't even have the book. :)

  • o cool :D u rock girl xD

  • Fantastic model! I just finished my first one from plain copy paper, so the model is about 2.5 in or 6 cm tall. I'm gonna make another larger one from tissue paper, so color changes!

  • Tough size for a first fold, well done! I think I was crazy enough to start with even smaller paper my first time round. See happyfolding(dot)com/gallery-elias-the_last_waltz

  • do you have to have permission of the owner to show how to do it on youtube

  • Yes, of course you do. Anything else would be against copyright law.

  • ok, thanks. How do you get ahold of them?

  • I usually contact the designer directly. Finding their contact details can be hard, but it's always worth it. I haven't been able to reach everyone I wanted, and not every designer has given me permission. This means that I can't make videos of every model that I'd like to. Respecting the designer's wishes is very important, though, and it's sad that lots of origami videos on YouTube don't. But maybe this will change in the future! I definitely am trying to set an example.

  • thanks for the info. by the way, your doing a good gob =)

  • hooray another vid !!!!

    your the best!!!!!

  • i have a request...im not sure if you can find the model. but when i went to borders...i found an origami book (forgot what it's called) but it includes models such as guitar strumming man, a man in a canoe, a lady playing an instrument,( thse are models kids can make and play with if you just pull the head back) and stuff like that by Robert J. Lang. and i was hoping you can teach some of those models...i hope you can because you're just amazing. THANKS!

  • sheesh sara were have you been?

  • Moving house - I'm back in Germany now.

  • oh well its nice to have you back home then lol

  • I love how you draw the creases in during the video. What kind of paper did you use?

  • It's some wrapping paper I found and I immediately had to buy 3 rolls of it (red/purple, yellow/orange, green/blue). Funnily enough, I met someone at the BOS Spring Convention 2009 who bought the exact same paper, because they'd loved it just as much. In terms of wrapping paper for origami, it's just about as good as it gets. Now don't ask me where I bought it. I think it was in some department store in Hamburg, Germany.

  • I've heard about this highly revered model before and now wonderfully, due to your excellent work, I have the chance to fold it!

  • Nice video!! Love all of your videos, thanks for the help!!
