So....Fox news is a blatantly obvious news organization and they kick everyone's ass consistently and people like Cenk Uygur are all upset about it. So either America is either center right or more in the middle than liberal. Either that or liberal America doesn't watch news. So be so he can continue to be loud and proud that he is either wrong as he is often. Or that that liberal majority out there he is claiming doesn't watch news.
Oh...well I mean if America is "Undisputedly Liberal" then...how did Boehner get elected and put in the position he is in? Just because they got elected doesn't mean anything...HAHA yeah good one Cenk. I think Cenk is mad because Democrats got their ass beat in the last election.
Morici was totally owned. He made points that had limited basis in fact. He tried to talk down to Cenk and Cenk simply pointed out the weakness in Morici's statements.
Morici's condensending tone did not conceal his substantial lack of substance.
Umm the rich make up a very small % of the population. How is raising their taxes going to help? So what everyone else has to be supported by them? The true solution should be to stop all of this spending. Stop foreign aid, and make America a producer again instead of a consumer. Back in the 50s, 40s etc almost everything was made here. This solution will also create jobs.
@miketent09 The federal government about gets 25% of their tax revenues from the top 1%. Someone like you may think this is unfair, but it's not when you consider they hold about 42% of the total financial wealth in this country. Raising their taxes would make a significant impact on our budget "crisis." To answer your 2nd question: the economy is driven by consumers. If the top 1% don't contribute to an infrastructure that supports the other 99% of the population... (continued)
@miketent09 (continued) ...then there's not going to be any consumers with enough means to buy products and sustain the economy that keeps them rich in the first place. You're putting the cart before the horse assuming production will solve everything. Also, the U.S. was a leader in manufacturing post World War 2 (the 40s and 50s) because much of the rest of the developed world was in ruins and rebuilding.
America is center and can flip flop to either side. The left and right paradigm is what causes people to flip flop. They booth have ideas attractive to many people and ideas that are not. It is sad that people can still be fan boys of either party.
This is the prototype for a "Good interview'. Cenk didn't just ask questions so the guest and he will reach some sort of "agreement". Every question he asked was a direct challenge to the guest, he had to answer him (with evidence). Unlike too many other interviews, where the interviewers basically serve up soft balls for the interviewee to hit it out of the ballpark. Cenk made the guest uneasy, and that's what interviews should be.
I think we all saw that however Morici tried to put it, he was basically proving Cenk's point. I don't know if that was intentional or not, but maybe there isn't really a way around Cenk's strong position with those hard statistics from the people.
@rextrek It doesn't seem that democrats or independents flipped this last election... They just didn't show up unless it was to vote against a CRAZY. Its a shame that Grayson from Florida lost, but its great that Blanche Lincoln from Arkansas lost. Given the crop of Republicans running in 2012, I think we are set for a Reagan style landslide for Obama.
I think part of the problem is that, while the poll numbers clearly show that Americans may be ECONOMICALLY liberal, many Americans are SOCIALLY conservative, and many of us tend to lump those two together. So as long as that takes precedence over the economic issues, the Republicans will have more power than they should. Politics should not be so monolithic like that.
And it doesn't help that Fox News is dishonest and that people are stupid, but what can you do?
I loved it right at the end, morici tries to be a clever guy, and PROVES cenk's point for him. GO CENK! I think the little fellow has his bow tie on a little too tight.
Oh I have a tv show. I am a news host. I am smart. Professor I am going to give you facts and correct you.

I'd like to see Morici try to talk like that to O'reilly or Wallace on Fox when he tries to make a point they disagree with.

Also there is a strong conservative bias in how we district regions in the country. I wouldn't look to the house as a proper representative body.
