I love ELO I saw them 6 times and this vid is great.I remember when they were on MS infact they hosted the show one time.Jeff come back the world needs you is what i'ld say I tell you everything if you'ld pick up that. You can guess the rest.ELO 4ever
Awesome song. Too bad people with ZERO knowledge of the art of audio recording played a role in getting this out. The poor audio has nothing to do with age and everything to do with overmodulation.
Kelly(R.I.P) looks better with straight hair, why the hell did he keep it fuzzed? this song is SO unlike their other stuff, very classic rock meets southern rock.
The presenter is Bob Harris - long time BBC radio and 'Old Grey Whistle Test' presenter.
And Jeff Lynne always wears those pilot shades (as well as keeps his head and face covered with hair) because he's very insecure and needs to create barriers between himself and the rest of the world.
Utimate group ever ELO and Queen fill my listening time....why does Geoff wear sunnies all the time, now you know, pitbull features.... voice of an angel. Kelly (believe me) had a great life and missed out on nothing.
i almost went into a spazz attack when i saw this video! it's the best rare video i never thought i'd hear and see livefrom ELO! A big shout out to the finder!
@elodevi Kelly was awesome. I think he joined ELO in 1974. And if you don't hear Jeff singing, it was Kelly, who had a sweet, sweet voice that complimented Jeff perfectly. Unfortunately, he died in Feb 2009. RIP, Kelly.
Thanks for this video uploader. Very rare indeed.
An overlooked, but excellent ELO song. Most ELO fans are ELO fans for life. Their love of the ELO is as fresh as it was back in the 70's as it is today.
This is more than great! What a rare gem. Early incarnation of Kelly Groucutt on bass. Mike Edwards still on cello. Right before Melvyn Gale joined and formed the classic ELO line-up.
This one of my all-time favorite songs by Jeff Lynne. It's brilliant combination of blues, funk, classical, and that opening guitar part which really has a George Harrison ring to it. (They were friends.) Plus the verses convey very effectively a mind in a state of urban alienation. THANKS for posting!
Truly superb!Love the distorted sound-like you're on the front row!The Eldorardo album is great-had it on yellow vinyl when i was 10 years old!Now 39.
Ever noticed that, as with most of the other live clips of ELO that are around, whenever Kelly Groucutt takes over the lead vocal from Jeff Lynne (as he did on most of their tour dates) he very rarely gets shown as the lead singer! In this instance the camera swings aroung to show the auditorium.
This is superlative! If and when they ever release a DVD of ELO's vid clips this has GOTTA be on there. And doesn't it stick it right up all those critics who said ELO were lip-synching through the years.
Christ Almighty! That is so FANTASTIC! I saw them about 5 times in Houston and ELO were UNBELIEVABLY GREAT in concert! One cannot explain the charismatic POWER of the great genius Jeff Lynne!
ELO/JEFF LYNNE is the best I wish thier was a better recording of this .......

Does anyone know anything about the Midnight Special appearance by ELO where Jeff Lynne is wearing a red t shirt? It looks like it is from 75-78.

What an excellent version of this song.
It sounds fuller and richer than the studio track. And is that the first public appearance of ELO's new singing bassist, Kelly Groucutt?

Anyway, thanks a Million for getting this Nugget up.
I am a BIG ELO fan. Ever since I was Thirteen.
All their music sounds better than ever today, expect a big Reprisal anytime soon, people are finally clocking onto them. Deeply Underrated.
