Thats what makes him the best. Snowboarding should be the search for self respect not self importance. Its the ride that makes the person not the awards and anyone in the sport who thinks Terje isn't the greatest watches to much T.V. and spends to much time in the parks. He is an insiration to freeriders everywhere with or without a camera breathing down their neck.

I wish Terje had more noteriety of his early dominance of snowboarding. If he was more of a showboater, selfpromoter and actually competed in more events; he would be considered the 'Michael Jordan' of snowboarding. (Dr. J maybe hehe) He was so much better than anyone early on for big air style and inventive tricks no one had tried.

Yeah, he's rackin up the medals and titles. I wonder how many freestyle, big air, and halfpipe competitions he could have won if he had actually competed for more than a few of them a year early on. He was pretty fast too, won the Mt. Baker giant slolam riding fakey.

I think he won regular but he did qualify switch, and that is a crazy race. The real crazies are those dudes riding in the retro class, 7 ply boards and fabric bindings, thats nuts on that mountain.

Yeah, he's racking up the medals and accolades. I wonder how many Terje could have racked up if he actually competed in more than the handful he participated in early on. In any freestyle, big air or half pipe kind of competition he could still compete. He was pretty fast too, he won the Mt. Baker giant Slolam riding fakey. I just remember in those inaugural(first competitions being put together)events of snowboarding, he was going almost twice as high as anyone. Gigantic air.

But Shaun White is over-rated and so mainstream. He's turning the sport into what it was never meant to be. (mainstream) Not saying hes not a good boarder but Terje is so incredibly hardcore.

i totally agree. shaun white is a prick too. my friend just got signed for snowboarding, and he has shredded with the guy. and hes overly cocky about being freestyle, but he claims he can race. Terje Haakonsen is actually a friken awesome boarder and he has a good attitude.

the guy who did it was terje haakonson his air was 32.2 feet or 9.8 meters. he broke the previos world record. he was also named the best snowboarder ever buy futer snowboarding magazine.
