Four (4) Subwoofers: Dual z-5500,z-680,and Edifier s730

What bout the Z-680? And the Edifier? Are they good as PC Speaker?

@jukpulfer The z-680 is the worst thing you will hear from the z-series. The Edifier is in Top 5 but even though the price it has wouldn't make me get it knowing how speakers other than Multimedia ones perform.

real speakers are Xoro HXS-614 and Concept E400

When Edifier was released there was no Concept Series and Xoro all it had was from cheap Monitors to DVD Players.

As you understand i needed something better than Logitech and not more expensive to show that Logitech was an overrated zero compared to what else exists.

Edifier,Logitech,Xoro,all those are shit with one being better than the other.

The only real speakers are Monitor Audio,Quad,Focal,B&W,Kef and such brands.

@JRprodz Example: B&W CC6 Center 100 Euros,4x B&W DM601 200-250 Euros,Denon-Pioneer AV Receiver 50-100 Euros,B&W ASW1000 Subwoofer 100-150 Euros.

Total around 500 Euros like the Concept 400 plus a Decoder,and totally incomparable to Logitech,Edifier,Xoro,Teufel and even to many of the Home Theater systems up to 1000 Euros.

I can admit though that this isn't for normal people,it's for smart people.

@JRprodz You might not be satisfied from Concept e400 if you're expecting way more than Xoro gives currently gives you.

Xoro sells that system way cheaper than it actually should cost compared to the Value VS Performance of more expensive systems that have the guts to be sold for 350-500 euros.

@JRprodz Well it's not that it wouldn't be better,it will just not give you as much as Xoro does for its really really low price,for me at least it doesn't worth if you already have the Xoro,but if your mate has the Xoro and you don't have anything currently then get it.

hello sir... i have recently bought a z5500 and im using it with my ps3 (digital) coax (sky hd) and analog (pc) and i connected the x530 aswell on the back of the computer ... all 5 speakers in one cable connected "as" the left and right speakers... but i dont want them really ... all i want is the Subwoofer of the x530 to work .. i dont want ANY sound from the satelites ... is that possible ? =/ Thx

@yuriperiotto Yeah.You can make a surgery on the whole thing to allow only the subwoofer to work but the best way is to disconnect all the satellites and open the satellite with the volume control to disconnect the speaker drivers.

@truebassB thx for the quick answer =D theres only two problems =S when i have less satellites connected .... lower the bass is ... 2.1 has much lower bass than when i enable manually 5.1 on songs... i imagine how low its going to be with 0.1 LOL and the other problem is ... I HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO OPEN the satellite with the volume control ... (looking for a hammer)

@yuriperiotto If you think so,get 5w 4ohms Resistors for each satellite and swap the speaker drivers with those resistors,the load will be the same but you will hear no sound.

As for the satellite with the controller,i have no idea either... on x-540 you can remove the grill to unhide some screws and open it up but i don't know about the x-530.

@truebassB well... im not really good with speakers so i dont really know what u mean with buying resistors and shit ... so i think ill have to leave it as that ... and i opened the satellite and its almost off ... only the bottom bit that does not come out =S and then ? what do i do ? i take the cables off ? even if its stuck there ?

@yuriperiotto You can take the cables off off of the driver so it wont work.

It's piece of cake to add dummy load,just get four 5w 4ohms resistor for under a pound and add one on each rca cable that you'll also get in deadly cheap price.

That way the resistors will simulate the load of the speakers without make any noise and it will be loud as with speakers.

@truebassB well, thats kind of complicated when i really cant bother to do that cuz the z5500 woofer wont allow me to hear the x530 at high volumes ... as if i turn the x530 very loud all i will hear is the Air coming out of the air port LOL, all i dont understand is HOW to remove the cables from the "driver" as they are all soldered =S i think ill need to cut it LOL

@Xbitsweden Both are the same dead under 50hz but the Edifier stands better on the frequencies that can be produced and has completely flat FR at about 60-120hz (the z-5500's frequency response is really anomalous and nonflat).

Under 55-60hz the driver of the z-5500 stops responding (doesn't even move) because of the low impedance on those frequencies.

On the other side the Edifier i believe that can produce lower frequencies but with this closed cabinet design can't.

Because, im wondering about bying z-z5500 or s730 and there is a pretty big price amount on thoose two here in sweden. And my friend told me too ask you about this, so the real question is

If i want to have a good woofer that can take low tones and my choice is one of them, wich one should i buy?

@Xbitsweden Hmm both subwoofers the z-5500 and the Edifier are stopping at about the same point,so this means both are the same "dead" under 50hz,they can't go much lower than this,but overall the Edifier performs better and has flat FR which is awesome for subwoofer of this (multimedia) class,and also the speakers are awesome.

The z-5500 is cheaper (here) but if you can buy Edifier or Teufel you should really pick up one of those two.

@Xbitsweden I recommend you Edifier but it is better if you test them both and judge them yourself.

You can also buy a Teufel set from Germany and try it in your house,they have proper systems too and you can try them for 8 weeks if i remember right,and if you don't like them you can send them back (the returning cost is free for 2 weeks).

@themostreliable from logitech's rma.I explained them the problem i had with the first unit (the screen backlight doesn't work),i proved i have a defected z-5500,i send them some photos of the problem among with the serial numbers of my old unit and they send me another one.
