  • vigilante is an idiot

  • id say just put some pads on elbows and knees and knuckles and allow to hit with these things but the elbows and knees pads should be thicker than the knuckles pads :)

  • I would love to see a martial artist (who is fully conditioned and has a lot of sparring experience) fight an MMA fighter that has been limited by rules for his entire career. That would be an interesting fight. Especially if there were no rules involved. I bet the MMA fighter would need to watch out not to get hit in the groin or throat... he would need to adapt his stance and his strategy. He would also need to use techniques that he didn't train for. I would say he would be in a disadvantage.

  • Competition makes your martial art weaker. Sparring is important and conditioning is a must, but competition brings nothing to your martial art. It only weakens is in my opinion because you don't train for reality. In sparring you can train every technique if you have the right protection gear, but why would you train them if your BIGGEST GOAL is to fight in competition where those techniques are worthless and (even better) you can COUNT on the rules to help you out. It's a sport, not reality.

  • perfectly legitimate techniques such as kneeing to the head of a fighter in a kneeling position have been outlawed. I've been harping on about this all week but when rules of this nature are introduced which skew the fights in the favour of a particular style (In this instance wrestling) then certain techniques will be exploited. You only have to watch Koscheck-Daley to see how that fight would have been different if the knee connected and would have been legal.

  • Continuous takedowns and lay and pray tactics are becoming the norm and are really making MMA dull.

  • lol have you ever done any mma ? it is a sport not a cock fight that's a good thing if it makes fuckwits like you stop watching that can only be a good thing as well, go let someone punch you in the back of the head with there bare knuckles

  • They want it to be like hyprid pancrase days that what I see in strikeforce and a little in ufc its going backwards a llittle bc of the wide audience. This is what happens when you expose it to the mainstream. Makes the sport popular but not the sport itself better.

  • the closest to legitame MMA/ValeTudo & superior format to date has been that of PrideFC's: 10min 1st rd., 4point attacks, stomps, soccer kicks, slams(piledriver), judging criteria(NON-10point SCAM) & RING as opposed to oversized cage or octagon.

    don't believe the hype!

    ufc is NOT MMA!

  • @judaschongo I agree. Vale Tudo also has headbutts. But I have to say I like the cage. The whole stopping the action to move them into the center is just too much ref control. Also you can do the whole jump out of the ring deal (I think you may get a yellow card, but it's better then losing).

  • When I see pride rules in ring ok but in cage no that what I see the difference.

  • @boogynights Maybe knees to a grounded opponent could be pretty devastating if your head is up against the cage, but why no elbows if your in a ring?

  • Well than that would be vale tudo rules set fight that what pride delivered almost to the fullest positional. Its just missing one thing just like your missing in the ufc where it was nothing missing in a fight. Soccer kicks and stomps and knees are a great substitute for elbows in the ring but not cage too many boundaries. The rules now for ufc are benefited now.

  • MMA fighting isn't real fighting as you said.... it's a sport like you said.. I'm not sure how many MMA fighters can successfully defend against a knife attack...

  • True, but it is a good simulation of unarmed combat. That is its foundation, that is its intent.

  • I believe there are enough people willing to get into an arena and fight to the death...

But that wont happen till we all actualkly admit that we really don't give a fuck about anyone but our selves..... ;)

  • good video dude but you gotta look into it and see why the rules are enforced not just watch past fights. the injuries that people get from a knee to a ground opponent doesnt have to be in a huge pro fight maybe someone died in an amatuer fight you never know i think all the rules are good becuz instead of going all out on a guy you hate you have to play it like a chess match anyway good vid man

  • There have only been 3 reported deaths in MMA ever. Two in unsanctioned events (no medial checks, no safety checks, maybe loose weight limits, etc.). None were due to a death blow. At least one was blamed on a pre-existing condition.

MMA was big in Brazil before the USA and the unified MMA rules. They have not had a reported death. I just dont by it. The unified rules are more of a way to satisfy critics then making the sport better.

  • Go challenge a JKD guys MMAs....let's see.

  • One rule i say needs changing is that when your down you cant grab the cage. Its stupid.

  • its a sport these guys are paid to fight so they want to be able to fight more than once you can seriously be injured with a strike to the back of the head or neck knees i think are fine but a a knee to the head when you are on the ground unable to defend it is ruthless i think the rules board has taken all the necessary measures to insure fighter safety and the sport is fine how it is but thats just my opinion

  • unified rules and zuffa can s my d. i want stomps and soccer kicks!!!!!!

  • I totally agree where you coming from Unified rules are really changing MMA Extent with no real substance with modified the combat favoring the wrestlers. I was thinking about this kind of subject of what going on with this rules.

  • Comment removed

  • knee/leg to the groin is the REAL knock out blow. Groins are more accessible than the face.

  • True, but for some reason it is against the rules. In the early UFCs when there were no rules (except against eye gouge and biting) it was not a big deal. I did not see a single KO due to a Groin shot (and I did see people try). I'm sure they were also armored up for just such a contingency.

  • I saw a accidental groin shot in Pride.. the victim was in alot of pain and the match had to be stopped.

I think groins shots are banned because there are no bones in the penis and balls...and it's really sensitive area so it have potential to render the victim impotent. And making sportsmen lose their ability to pork babes isn't really a good idea...
