I know it shouldn't matter since music is more important than the actual video, but does it have to be this hokey? If a video is going to be made, it should at least compliment the song and add to the experience. Then again, they weren't exactly popular and loaded with cash to spend on videos. You know, Swans could get away with just a black screen. Imagine seeing that on VH1, Ha!
@alexsweeley in my opinion, this is actually their best music video, which isn't saying much. their music videos are notoriously bad. have you ever seen the one they made for love will tear us apart?
remember this from the tube , nothink like that programme exists these days . i heard a few tracks by these on john peel , they must have appealed to peel s tatse because of their loudness ( much credited in music press ) and relentless blahblah blah
@queenmarcella If you are going to yell at me( for no reason) at least make an effort to use proper grammar. Why do you think I would have known? I was 17. I didn't have cable for many years, nor the internet. You don't know my life, so don't make an accusation, you know nothing about. Just because I love a band and listen to their music, doesn't mean, I seek out their videos.
The song is critical of religious hypocrites (especially preachers, as Gira pointed out in an interview once...and which his performance in this video parodies.) The axe acts simultaneously as a mic stand, symbolizes what the preacher uses as a weapon. One of my favorite songs of all time by what is easily the most intense band of all time- absolutely nothing comes close to the sheer brutality of an early Swans record.
how is this bad? most video clips are shit. its about the MUSIC
