Fell in love with Mr. Winston's music in 1982, when his album, "December" was released and played on rock AND classical music stations in Portland, OR. Also saw him in concert, playing in his jeans, sweater and stocking fee! I think I heard along the way that it was Dr. Longhair who pulled him out of retirement and the rest is history.
What a talented player - thank you for posting this video. And Guaraldi was such a great composer... his pieces make me feel happy and yet wistful. I can't separate them from the melancholy that is woven into Charlie Brown.
I've teared up. The applause for Winston is justly deserved. This is a lovely rendition but always remember who brought it into the world. The genius - Vince Guaraldi.
omg!! this song is soooo beautiful. ive always loved it. i think of charlie brown, snow on the ground, hot chocolate, warm blankets and sweaters, and of course christmas.
george winston you are the piano player of the most high that was so great it was perfect plus what makes this the best version and the best version ever is because it is just PIANO which is the best part of the song no horns no fiddles george plays piano and it is played the best
If you find it I would really appreciate it if I could get a copy. I have the sheet music for the rest and play it every christmas but it's missing that part!!!
while i like vince's better, what i really like about this is that i could have told you it was george winston playing this if i were blindfolded. he definitely has his own touch and style. nice job.
Amazing!

The scale/thirds sorta thing is more jazzy, and in this version it sounds fast and exaggerated, maybe a bit jagged. smoooooooooooooooth☺
