  • Gotta love the French. Awkward bastards to a man. They only call themselves socialists because they know it annoys everyone. They are no more socialist than the UK. When I as in France I asked a guy in a shop 'Do you speak English?' He replied 'yes' Then promptly started talking to me in French. The point he as making was, yes I can speak English but I'm not going to. That sums up the French for me. awkward but kinda lovable ;)

  • @m00nshine2004

This is so true . Robin Williams is making fun of this behavior all the time , lol.

  • @m00nshine2004 Can you imagine French people asking people in shops in the US is they spoke French? you'd call 911!

  • @Franoz

In some parts of the US I'd have to ask if they spoke English ;)

  • @m00nshine2004 That's not awkward, that's basically saying fuck you, learn to speak or GTFO. It's a normal behaviour in all countries.

  • @m00nshine2004 Hateful is more accurate.

  • @ElnAlter

    I wouldn't go that far...quaintly disagreeable maybe ;)

  • deaths of civilians. Well, they disbanded The Foreign Legion.

  • The reason the "Iron Blockade" ceased to exist by November, 1781, so Cornwallis was defeated at Yorktown because he could not retreat to the sea was because the French fleet under Admiral DeGrasse defeated the British at the Battle of Chesapeake Bay in September. This is deleted from all American school history textbooks because no colonists participated in the battle. The French have been our allies in every war since the time of Napoleon. Stupid police actions that mostly result in the

  • Bill, feel free to move to France, no one will miss you.

  • :D americans rolling eyes at french. Apart from what Maher already said - even your Statue of Liberty was built by... guess who.

  • Oh yes, France is so much more enlightened than the US. Although, which country is it that banned the burqa from schools?

  • @RapperWar Yes, France is much more enlightened. I agree. Who cares if they banned burqas.

  • @Counterstrikesourcee Well doesn't that make us better in that regard? Oh and France deported alot of its Gypsy population. But i guess Bill Maher didn't see little stuff like that

  • @RapperWar thats because the "gypsy" population had entered france illegally.

  • @olitraiga Oh!!!! But when Arizona tries to do that to the illegal immigrants, they are Nazi fascists!

  • @RapperWar good comeback dude

  • @wafeman17 Thanks, baby <3

  • @RapperWar Being politically correct isn't a good thing. Look at the UK, they've been so tolerant that know whole neighborhoods live under sharia law.

  • @Q8379 YEah i agree

  • @RapperWar Public schools that is ... Burqas are allowed in private schools

  • @Franoz Still.....

  • The revolutionary war was probably the dumbest thing America has ever done.

  • I was proud to be french again after watching that vid :)

  • hahaha tits

  • I love clicking on Bill Maher's videos. I always know hes gonna be wrong. And first of all, our health care system is as bad as it is because dumb fuck liberals like you passed that shitty bill. If you hate America so much, why are you still here?

  • @DaBeesKnees69

Fucking kid, shut the fuck up.

  • @DaBeesKnees69 The bill hasn't even been implemented yet..healthcare sucked before it passed... and its sucks now. Whats your answer to fix it? Americans used to be open to change. We would look at what other countries did, copy some of it, and do it BETTER. Now, if we try to do the same we are called "Un-American."

  • @timfmr France It was one of the greatest powers on earth and supported the American revolution, making independece from Britian possible. Its own revolution, however, was a blood letting catastophe. The French revolution was based on venting envy, resentment and hatred.

  • @DaBeesKnees69 At least the French learn from War though. America can't go 20 years without engaging in some conflict.

  • @Rhsims Thats true. George Bush was an awful president and invading Iraq is one of our biggest mistakes as a nation. Im a republican and I will admitt Bush was one of the worst presidents we've ever had.

  • @Rhsims Yeah you're right, France is never at war. Oh wait, who lead the attack on Libya? FRANCE

  • @RapperWar Against the man who was sponsored terrorism against the United States in the 1980's?

  • @DaBeesKnees69 Yes the oppressed peasants venting their envy at the nobles who lived luxuriously.

  • @timfmr They are a great people, but have never escaped a seemingly natural proclivity for envy. They exported their evny based model to Russia and later to Vietnam, Cambodia, China, North Korea and beyond. Exported french envy gave motive to much of what would become the communist world, and subjected hundreds of millions to misery.

  • @DaBeesKnees69 this footage was shot long before Obama was even president. Nice try though.

  • France help built Independent America, and that help brought down the French monarch leading to French Revolution.

  • @fivealive2

Leading to an entire chains of revolutions throughout Europe really.

  • @fivealive2 Exactly, the French gave us Lafayette, Marchainville, and Rochambeau. These fine men risked their lives for our freedom. And we sadly despise them. God, America is such a great friend.

  • @MrticTac921 We also defended France with out lives, ever heard of World War 2?

  • @RapperWar we paid for that help, and you haven't paid us for the Louisianne. But must i say, your contry is buld on the amerindien génocide, you're the only one to use nuclear bombe on civilians, and the last to stop the use of slave. And save France, we could say it's a pay back for our help for your independance war.

  • @Kaligur actually Brazil was the last to allow slavery, in 1888 i think

  • @Kaligur LOL, do they not teach your own history? Yeah, we conquered the Indians. France conquered.....lets see. Indians too? Also, Algeria, Vietnam, West Africa. And you also tested nuclear weapons on innocent people. So shut the fuck up, et va te faire foutre, encule

  • And who did these 85% of the French electorate vote for in '02?

    Most votes: Jacques Chirac

Second most votes: Herr Jean-Marie LePen of the Nazi "Front National".

There is indeed something wrong with a society when a monster like LePen comes in second place in its presidential elections.

  • @H4W3A8 What does this have to do with anything? And there is no "nazi" party in France. If there were, it would be illegal since Nazism is illegal in France (which I don't agree with, I think every idea, however bad, should be allowed to be expressed, like in the US).

  • @Wotanraven Well of course they're not DUMB ENOUGH to CALL themselves Nazis!

It's just that LePen happens to hold some very disturbing views regarding Jews, the Holocaust, immigrants, etc.

    Deutchland fur die Deutchen!!!

    France pour les Francais!!!

Just find out about the guy, and what he believes in, and tell me you don't find it rather disturbing that so many French voted for him.

  • @H4W3A8 I know all about him. His father died on a nazi mine, and he wanted to join the French resistance but was refused by the local Resistance leader at the time because he was only 16.

  • See above.

  • "In 2005 a village resident complained in a letter to a local newspaper that a street named Pétain insulted those opposed to Jean-Marie Le Pen, an admirer of the marshal." So he both was both AGAINST Petain and admires him at the same time?

Dude, he's playing you for a fool. Just like every German I've ever met who very conveniently happens to have a grandfather who fought against Hitler tries to play me for a fool.

  • @H4W3A8 Wow, you're more stupid than I thought. Some random bloke in some village accused Le Pen of being a nazi, so that makes it the truth? Do you think this truth can stand in court? Because it doesn't, Le Pen sewed many people for defamation, and won when it was this kind of wild unsubstantiated accusations. Accusing an opponent of being a "fascist" is the oldest trick in the book. You should know that.

  • He gave me the funnies... but every time Sean Penn's face showed on my monitor I wanted to vomit my raviolis on my kitty.

  • Does Bill Maher really hate the country that made him Rich that much? Every time I turn him on he's bashing the U.S. and conservatives.

  • @MrBrational why yes he does

  • @MrBrational I don't think we should look at that way, critism is essential to making things better. I would think Maher probably wants the best for humanity in general, not just limited to a national scope. Patriotism is self pitying so we shouldn't feel the need to love a certain country, just celebrate one's ability to promote humanistic qualities.

  • @MrBrational As he said in another video, he doesn't hate america, he just hates the fundamentalists and other loons who are ruining it

  • @Q8379 As Bill Maher says continuously, he doesn't hate America. He just hates Americans, American culture, American values, American religion, etc.

  • @klutzyknockoutlady A true patriot looks out for his country and doesn't hesitate to speak up when things go wrong.

  • @MrBrational I don't get why so many seem to take him so seriously in the first place. He started out as a comedian, then apparently decided he was a political genius, with ZERO credentials to back it up.

Not all too different from Oprah, who believes it's her job to "educate" us about stuff that for some odd reason SHE knows and the rest of us dummies don't.

  • @MrBrational

He doesn't bash on the USA. He bashes on conservatrolls, which is perfectly fine

  • @AGeekWithAShotgun aww come on geek, you haven't seen enough Bill Maher then. I just finished watching a clip of him continually calling America "stupid". Search "Bill Maher- America is stupid". Would it kill him to go after moronic Democrats like Nancy Pelosi or Barney Frank once in a while... apparently it would.

  • @MrBrational

"Search "Bill Maher- America is stupid""

I don't think calling America "stupid" means to hate, hate is a very strong word, and words mean specific things. Of course he thinks America is stupid; Bill Maher is a hypocritical asshole who likes to believe he is a cynic.

"Would it kill him to go after moronic Democrats like Nancy Pelosi or Barney Frank once in a while... apparently it would. "

I would like to see him bumfuck the asshole Barney Frank

  • @AGeekWithAShotgun well I'm glad we agree on something.

  • The United States would never have won the Revolutionary War without the help of France. Massive amounts of supplies, then military advisors, and finally thousands of troops and the French navy were sent over and proved decisive in the victory of the colonists over Britain.

  • @squamish4244 yeah, b/c they did that out of the goodness of their heart, oh wait they didn't!! b/c france wouldn't want to to stick it to the english!! france had it's own colonies, it's own wars, it's own stupidity!!

  • @chillytoes1 Of course they wanted to stick it to England, but the point remains, without France, no United States!

  • @squamish4244

Not to mention the attacks made upon British properties by French, and Dutch ships in other parts of the world. These diversion tactics resulted in the Royal Navy having to relocate many of it's ships away from the Americas.

  • @johnpetermalcolm Yes, the actions of the colonists blew up into a global war where Britain was forced to fight against the French, Dutch, and Spanish without a single ally.

  • @squamish4244 I CALL BULLSHIT.

  • @FlyingPanda1000 Facts are facts, dude. Read up on your history.

  • @squamish4244 lick my butt

  • @squamish4244 so what, Japan also help RoC to overthrow Qing and US help Saddam fight the Iranians, France help US because they hated the British so much not because they loved the Americans

  • @KuhoinX Who cares about France's motivation, my point is that without it = no United States, which is conveniently ignored by the French-bashers. Especially during the Bush Administration and the 'Freedom Fries' debacle.

  • Great monologue, and I'm not even French lol.

  • Bill Maher needs to go to hell. By insulting most of America it must really make him feel like a big man. God he is so powerful cause he is an idiot entertaining enough to be given a TV show. Other people who are given a TV show because they are entertaining are Snuky and Joe the plumber from 08. You are so smart Bill Maher. What a big man/

  • @TheKareal2468 You are making yourself look like an idiot... You're criticizing him because he is trying to express, what I will grant to you seems to be, a somewhat unrealistically idealistic and flawed ideology. Nevertheless, he puts forth a coherent argument for what he believes in which is more than I can say for the people you compare him to.

  • @TheKareal2468 Furthermore, your argument is clearly refutable in that you neglected to acknowledge which networks the aforementioned "Snuky and Joe the plumber from 08" could (can) be found on. The irony is, that these two characters, both of whom put forth thoughts that are hardly intellectually stimulating, were (have been given) slots on channels that are available to, and frequented by, the mass public.

  • @TheKareal2468 Bill Maher has been relegated to the ranks of channels like HBO and Cinemax... Hardly MTV. In conclusion, I would just like to state that, while I too disagree with many of the implicit assertions Bill Maher is making, I can respect the fact that he is trying, with the limited exposure he has, to spread A COHERENT message about what he believes to be wrong with the global state of affairs. That, sir, is commendable.

  • brilliant!

  • You know for sure this big nose jews banging a french slut :)

  • What's English for 'Dieu est mon droit' ? Pardon my English but..taking into account that English is mainly made of French (40 per cent), the 4 per cent of English words in my language, the 56 members of the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie',nearly 1 milliard of people who speak French worldwide, most the Europe courts spoke French for centuries, I'm absolutely not convinced that English is the main global language.

  • @frankph5

"Dieu est mon droit" translates to "God is my right".

There are over 5 times as many native English speakers as there are native French speakers. English is the primary global language. Twice as many people use English on the internet than any other language.

  • Bill Maher's right, but he forgot to mention about how America wouldn't exist if the French didn't help them

  • because the french are "righter" than you? great case! lol

  • I'm French and he's right about a few things; we don't care if a candidate isn't married, and if a candidate promotes creationism he's sure NOT to be elected. But France doesn't have the "best poverty rate" , it's not "the greenest country", it's not independent from Middle East oil, but it is somewhat energy-independent because it relies the most on domestic nuclear power, which I doubt Maher is a defender of. Also, our health care system is in deficit because of widespread fraud, and abuse.

  • @Wotanraven - merci, for bringing silly America-hating Bill Maher back to Earth. This arrogant tool doesn't know as much about the world as he thinks he does. He's simply another media jerk.

  • @Wotanraven ce video a ete mis en ligne en 2007 donc il est normal que certaine statistiques soit incorrectes.

this video was posted in 2007 so its normal that some statistics are incorrect.

  • @mick189118 Sure, but even in 2007, even in 2000, France never had the best poverty rate, France was never, ever, the greenest country. Not in 2007, not ever.

  • @Wotanraven

You're certainly right about the French poverty rate, and about France not being the "greenest country", but their healthcare system still kicks the crap out of the American one.

  • @clizzaster Yeah, actually I wasn't trying to criticize the French health care system, it's great. Unfortunately, there is fraud (fake health care cards) and abuse (doctors prescribing too many antibiotics, people going to their doctor for a simple cold, illegal immigrants benefiting from it although they didn't pay a cent for it). The system wouldn't be in deficit if these problems were fully addressed.

  • @clizzaster Yes but so does Somalia's so that's not saying much.

  • @Wotanraven Either way dude, at least you guys don't run around yelling your countries better. At least you "down vote" the religious nut jobs....those bastards THRIVE in the US. It really is fucking sad that sane rational humans are a rarity.

  • @Wotanraven Interesting, thank you.

  • @Wotanraven I would rather have a deficit because of health care that actually works, rather than a bloated defense budget that doesn't do anything other than work as extra government employment. I just don't see how health care isn't a basic right, so many people die here in the US just because they can't afford preventative care that it is sickening.

  • @Gonzotabb Yeah. I wasn't criticizing the health care system. The French system is great, I'm all for it, I was just being honest in saying that it still has problems. But these problems could fairly easily be taken care of if the state was less forgiving about fraud and abuse.

  • @Wotanraven

Our health care is in deficit because the money that should go into our health care system in used for something else. 8 billion euros that comes from taxes from the tabacco industry and 11 billion from the alcohol industry doesn't get into the social security accounts.

  • @Wotanraven Well... It was 5 years ago and he was exaggerating

  • @Wotanraven we care too much about the person instead of what they'll do

  • @Wotanraven "our health care system is in deficit because of widespread fraud, and abuse." I'm just curious, what is the fraud and abuse? People pretending to be sick to get free healthcare?

  • @AngeCord Fraud is people, mainly immigrants, with fake health care IDs to benefit from the system although they didn't contribute a cent for it. Abuse is people going to their doctor for a simple cold (their 30 euro consultation is entirely reimbursed), and doctors abusively prescribing antibiotics even when it's not really necessary (the drug companies are happy though). Illegals are taken care of too, no charge, for humanist reasons - but law-abiding tax payers pay for them.

  • @Wotanraven Whats the difference between the french health care system and the UK system, i am asking only out of curiosity

  • @01coyote13 I have no idea. I don't know the UK system, but I'd wager it's more privatized than the French system, like their Universities, closer to the US system. But I'm just guessing.

  • @Wotanraven SA-NAP!

  • @Wotanraven Better than widespread rape and pillaging that our health care system does, good luck trying to get any health care at all if your sick, prepare to foot a bill thats equals your yearly salary if you spend a week, let alone intensive care, you may as well kiss your love ones goodbye if they find out you can't pay.

If your country can tax you to death while your in good health, atleast they can do is pay the bill when your sick.

  • @Mikkhailov It annoys the hell out of me that my comment was thumbed up because so many people, like you, keep messaging me as if I was criticizing universal health care. I'm not. I'm all for it, 100% for it. I was just being humble by noting that there are problems nonetheless, problems which can be fixed if the system were a little more strict. It's the best possible system, but it's not perfect. That's all I'm saying.

  • So is America really obsessed with abortion and creationism?

Like, can it destroy a candidates chances if he says he's an atheist?

  • @aaron9099 For sure, no US presidential candidate can be elected if he openly says he's an atheist. Similarly, I doubt a candidate could be elected if he's not married, with a healthy family to parade in front of cameras.

  • @aaron9099 Yes and no, you won't get elected if you're an atheist (there aren't any atheist members of congress and atheists are considered the most mistrusted group in America).Abortion tends to be a kind of split issue which isn't always the biggest but still a debated issue. Creationism on the other hand kind of depends on your party. Creationism is more of a republican/conservative candidate thing, and I think even then they're a minority, you'd be shunned as a liberal creationist

  • @aaron9099 You would certainly be ruined in America in a Presidential election if you said you didn't believe in God.

  • @aaron9099 - It's the mainstream media that pushes the abortion issue, gay rights and evangelicals way out of proportion to their importance in American life. Stupid Bill Maher is part of that media so I don't understand why he berates Americans. The best thing for Americans to do is to turn off the media, and especially tools like Bill Maher.

  • @fliegeroh You right I can't believe the gall this guy has...why can he sees like the rest of us the French are stupid! I'm working hard to get Sarah Palin to run for president...suggest all Americans tune in to Rush Limbaugh for getting the real truth...Bill O'really and Hennessy are good too...I agree with you, bury our heads in the sand...who cares about the rest!

  • @ellebal1111 lol I know what you are up to!

  • @ellebal1111 Asking Limbaugh for "the real truth" is like asking Larry the Cable Guy for advice on picking the right tuxedo.

  • We would never have become independent from England without France and Benjamin Franklin. France helped fund the majority of the Revolution. So we owe our gratitude to France, not our contempt.

  • That asshole better quite parading like a peacock talking about things he knows nothing about. I am French, and I am not going back to the socialist poison that has infected my country. Now, America is becoming poisoned also thanks to sleaze bags like Obama, with a little help from creeps like Bill Maher. That deranged low life should be eviscerated, oui monsieur!

  • @twombonu Who cares what you think, you're French! hahahah

  • @twombonu I take it your mother had a thing for Nazi uniforms.

  • @aluisious Forget my mother, and just go fuck yours!

  • @twombonu What's French for Sieg Heil?

  • @aluisious Toujours la, petite merde? Je t'ai dit d'aller enculer ta mere!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @aluisious What's French for Sieg Heil?

Easy -- "Obama is a socialist."

  • @skoockum Zing!

  • @aluisious *Ka-chow!*

  • @twombonu Yeah.. and I bet you don't like the Tour de France either

  • What a cheese eating surrender monkey

  • @Floydthefuckbag

If it wasn't for the cheese eating surrender monkeys you wouldn't even have a country

  • @gipcambero if it wasn't for cheese eaters there wouldn't be usa. funny how that works

  • 274 people are stupid potato

  • I'm french, and I aggree with that but he said some false things: we aren't the greenest country, (at all) and privacy is becoming like in the USA. And accordéon music ain't ridiculous =)

  • Normally I agree with Maher, but those so-called facts about France are based on his own imagination.

  • @Iyoulikeyoutoo What he says about Healthcare, Nude beaches, Private Lives, not being a fat nation IS ABSOLUTELY TRUE... he even forgot to mention the average French has a bigger penis than the average American... have a good day ^^^^

  • @Iyoulikeyoutoo hea, I understand it hurts being told that Americans are stupid by one of our own...but as soon we realize the truth faster we can get organized to improve our self...it may take 200 years but we have to get better!!

  • Yeah, that's what i said. XD

No seriously i admit my mistake, so thanks, i learned something today.

  • I'm French and I can tell you that 25~35% of what he say isn't true anymore (sadly).

  • @LunaVorax Right. But still French system is way bether than american one.

  • @LunaVorax heu..non (translation: heu...no.)

  • Having three kids and never geting married is bad, the french's state will testify. They Should be asked about abortion, abortion is terrible. Prayer in school, not so much. And evolution is responsable for Jaques Brel's less good bits and seems to have had an exeedingly bad effect on Leo Ferre. The guy thought chimpanzees had traits we were trajicly abandoning when he adopted one as a pet, he called it his daughter. He alwayse looks like a face and a body drawn on a blackboard.

  • I am french... We love you Bill!

  • At then end of the sequence, Maher dives into pure comedy (the tongue) but on many accounts France is justified to be proud of itself and on many issues, it is better than USA. But we shouldn't be boasting about achievement... Better take inspiration from each other on things that the other does better.

  • If not for France The United States of America would not exist.

  • @densaner77 how so?

  • @eleminatus. The diplomatic, economic and military support France gave the American revolution was important to it's victory. The oldest diplomatic relationship America has is with France. A frenchman designed Washington DC and millions of Americans can claim french ancestry. Idiots like Bill O'Reilly need to read the history of the US before talking nonsense about the French.

  • @densaner77 I see. Thanks!

  • Freedom fries!!!

  • if they would use same health care system as Finland uses, they would have to rise taxes to 99%

  • This is great!

  • This is great!

  • This is great!

  • This is great and still relevant!!!

  • Our problem is we have allowed the far right to dictate political and social policies in this nation to the point where we have very little freedom, massive poverty, and a high incarceration rate.

  • When it comes to Maher's HUGE Nasal Flap, the French have declared that their pigs will no longer find any more truffles until Bill Maher agrees to never come back to their country. Can you really blame the French? Maher wakes up each morning and smells the coffee.....in Brazil.

  • @trottheblackdog I'm pretty sure Florida doesn't have a population of 263287540. Get your math right. 19% of the country's population is made up of foreign-born immigrants, many of which are non-white in origin, being Maghrebis. That's not even including the non-white French who are not white as well. France shows a welfare state can work on scale of large population (twice the size of California) and very ethnically diverse. Get your facts right dude.

  • Cheese eating surrender monkeys...

  • @solusdiver better to eat cheese than conducting a 10-year-war with the sole objective of killing arab people.

  • @Meskiagkasher Falafel eating murder monkeys.

  • @solusdiver jesus eating war monkeys.

  • @Meskiagkasher Sorry, not Catholic.

  • @solusdiver and?

  • @Meskiagkasher What, the war monkeys thing? If it wasn't for America's war-like nature, Europe would be under Germany's boots instead of just in their pockets...or else eating borscht and drinking wood alcohol.

    Pax Americana...you're welcome.

  • @solusdiver So US participation in WW2 gives them the right or justification to continue warring wherever they please to this day? And to boast about being the "best nation in the history of the world", while neither being a nation nor being best at anything except militarism and religionism? Why is "Americanization" the universally used term to denote any negative trend in a society? Because anybody envies the US? That was in the 50s/60s. These days the US is merely an annoyance.

  • @Meskiagkasher Annoyance? I've traveled extensively around the world and I can never leave America...it's everywhere. From our technology to our culture, the world seems to be following whatever America does. When the chips are down, where does the world look to for guidance and security...France? Great Britain? China? I don't think so. They turn to the US and her debauched dollar.

We've got our problems and we are declining...but we still lead the world.

  • @solusdiver

    Bonne Année à toi!

You've travelled a lot, obviously. So you've been in France. What do you feel when you visit parts of my Normandie and villages there, where 10 yo child welcome the US Vets and the US tourists with the 2 words of English they know:thank you?

We have not forgotten what you did for us,and also what the Brits did for us.France is not the lighthouse of the world, like Maher says, but one thing sure,it's not the country of ingratitude.

  • @MrSebfrench76 I felt a deep love for the people of Normandy. The memory of liberation was still strong in the collective mind of the people...and it's one of the most beautiful coastlines I've ever seen in my life. And I've seen many, many places. Some of the comments I made on here were just trolls to the trolls I was receiving. But bottom line, I love France and have visited her several times.

  • @solusdiver Funny then that everything America stands for was given to them by Britain.

Everything from their laws, their concepts of freedom and individual liberty to industry, healthcare, even the world wide web was invented by a Brit!

And what a ridiculous comment about WWII! You were physically attacked before you joined. Even FDR was more than prepared to accept the fall of Britain, calling the Canadian ambassador to ask if they would abandon Britain as a lost cause.

  • @BasilFawlty4444 Rubbish. If we based all our thought on Britain we'd be Canada. You say everything so where is our monarchy? Our House of Lords...our Parliament? There is some common ground because we started as a British colony, but our Founding Fathers made the break and drew from a wider source of knowledge than Britain.

We supported Britain well before we entered physically into the war. Without our Lend Lease program Britain could not prosecute the war for any length of time.
