  • Neil is awesome! I can't get enough of him. I want my own Neil AI!!!! Nova ScienceNow was fabulous last night. Can't wait till next week to get my Neil fix. Oh, and the science is great too, lol.

  • Bitrax??!!

    Is that like bävergäll?

  • Neil is great as usual, but wow that lady acted like she wasn't even sitting in the room with him. I would have been scooting my chair closer and closer . . .

  • @GodlessMorality: The lay is Paula Apsell, who is the executive producer of NOVA. That means she is the program's primary facilitator; she picks the show topics and arranges for their coverage and/or procurement. She is media businesswoman, not a entertainer, and is Neil's boss, not a host. She is only very rarely in the public light.

  • mmm butter

  • Evolution is all about type 1 errors.

  • Elaborate.

  • If you cook vegetables they lose their nutritional value.

  • And if you don't cook vegetables there's a lot of nutritional value you can't get, because it's locked behind indigestible cellulose. :P

The trick is to cook but not overcook. Not that most people in the developed world are in any dire need of getting every last ounce of nutrients out of their veggies anyway...

  • @paceetrate.

    Not true.

Once the cooking process starts vegetables lose nutrients. The maximum nutrient value from vegetables is from eating them raw. The bodies ability to break cellulose down is rather good and does not need help unless you have a gastric problem of some sort.

  • Uh, sure, and that's why herbivores need multiple stomachs and special enzymes in order to digest their food? Humans cannot digest cellulose. We don't have multiple stomachs, we don't have the enzymes. So if you think you can digest cellulose, you're either wrong, or you have the stomach of a cow. I'd like to see that.

  • Anybody happen to know what this tea is called? This I've got to try

  • Adults like vegetables? Thats news to me.

And the host is smiling alot, she is maybe shy, but whats so wrong with that?

  • I love good vegetables but it's hard to get them in most places. Unfortunately we Americans tend to not know how to properly prepare them so that we never learn to love them.

  • Whenever I try to eat defrosted peas and carrots I get an instant gag reflex. Fresh carrots are ok. I would think that its not just americans who don't know how to prepare vegetables.

  • No way, you've got to eat some real Indian food some time... too bad it's nearly impossible to find in the states.

Most Americans can do the whole veggies in with the pot roast thing pretty well.

  • Pot roast is delish. So simple to make, yet so tasty!

And sorry, but all the Indian food I've ever seen looked waaaaay too spicy for me.

  • Yes... what the **** was up with that host? Could she look any more indifferent? Or even demonstrably disinterested?

Interesting stories from Mr Tyson as usual.

  • @bnightm She was clearly not amused by his opening Anecdote, you can tell her back got all stiff and whatnot, but then again it's not like she was loose and relaxed/friendly from n the beginning ether . . . so yea you're right sh'e alme

  • Wow! ...and I thought this was going to be a boring vid! Hmn. That's why my 6yr old daughter won't eat her veggies! Interesting...

  • he looks like he's about to bust through that chair.

  • And she looks like she is falling asleep. - lol

  • Great stuff. Love Nova! and Neil Tyson!

  • I love him so much, he's amazing.

  • I wish I could meet him somehow.. I have so many questions about the universe for him!

  • That woman ruined Tysons story! More Tyson, less boring when-is-different-things-on talk!

  • Another great video from Dr Tyson and PBS!! You both are doing great things and I really enjoy the content.
