Hmmm...I see why they deleted it. It stands out WAAAAYYY too much from the rest of the film. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE stop motion and always will, but this just doesn't belong.
@QuatermassMan By the time this movie came out, this kind of claymation was definately not for Godzilla vs. Biollante. It wouldn't have been for Godzilla 1985, either...
it didn't really "fit" into the film i guess... not that i haste stopmotion. w/out it we wouldn't had clash of the titans, ghostbusters, fright night, and the original king kong.
remember, it was their original intent to do Godzilla entirely in stop motion. It would have been great in the original film, and this is proof of that. Suitmation is still great though, it's an art form of itself.
this would have been cool to see in a film yes. but the motion of the model is too different from the stiffness of the suitmation actor. it wouldnt mesh well
I like it when they use some CGI but not all of it. Like in Godzilla 2000. Most of it was a guy in a suit but the scene when he's swiming is CGI and it just looked awesome. However, to keep with tradition they shouls never fully abandon the suit.
well, I think that the fully CGI Godzilla in Godzilla could have been much better to compare with the suit. What I love is the CGI touches they added to the suit. Like in GMK they added more snarling lips, flaring nostrils, and gave more life to the character.
Stop motion uses latex rubber for the model's skin, while Claymation uses ordinary modeling clay (which would be obvious if you spot fingerprints). So it's Stop Motion.
In the original Godizlla when they have some stop motion with Godzilla's tail hitting a truck. They also have a stop motion scene in Godzilla vs King Kong where Godzilla does a drop kick. Both of them looked like absolute crap but they were kept in the final cut.
This looks friggin awesome. Why they hell would they cut it out after leaving those previous two examples?
That would have been awesome if they kept it... Trying to make the monster king seem more fluid and organic. I love the Suitimation stuff but that was awesome! Ray Harryhausen inspired even.
Looks Cool!

Clay animation is so old now, I only wish Toho can release hopefully a full length Godzilla anime film, not linked to the series.

They need to bring Biollante back. Next best monster to King Ghidorah, IMO.
mothra1000 2 years ago 7
Nice as a stand alone scene, but it would have been far too jarring a difference from the suit-mation if it were in the movie.

Wow! Stop Motion finally that has to do with goji already!

Is there any stop motion scene in the final movie?
POMMES1988 2 years ago
Goji's model looks like a Trendmasters bendable figure... and his plates are to short.
zillaboy07 3 years ago 6
Too bad Eiji Tsuburaya, who wanted to film the original Gojira in stop motion, did not live to see this. He would have been proud.
g2kmaster 3 years ago 6
Yes, he would be. He would've been able to see his dreams realized...

it actually was claymation

kaiju11 3 years ago 3
they said it themselves that its claymation and it would be pretty hard to spot a fingerprint in the dark in which this scene was filmed
gojirafan430 3 years ago
Go Biollante!

its real good claymation and stuff, but i'm glad they left it out.

wonder why..it looks good actually
chanapan49 3 years ago
That actually looked pretty damn good. I guess they cut it because it obviously wasn't the same suited Godzilla, but that was a well animated scene.
NYG4LIFE123 3 years ago
Man, if whoever holds the US liscence finally decides to cooperate with a DVD release, they should put this and the anime clip as special features.

laughingwarlock 3 years ago
I guess since it's longer than two seconds, they thought that people would notice it, and so it was cut.
noqa 3 years ago
Ah. That makes sense. Still, it's kinda ironic that they didn't use it.

this is pretty good for Japanese stop-motion.
Deadzilla 3 years ago
I tought this was pretty cool but it might have not fitted in well in a 90's godzilla movie. Perhaps thats why it got cut? =/
