I love Randle's comments around 3:50 - sort of reminds me of how much the media hypes and slurps Tom Brady these days. Pretty nauseating. At least Favre was never accused of cheating/spying!!
@VirgoGal74 Favre never answered his critics by having a 17 win season and breaking the record of touchdown passes in a single season, after being accused of cheating. These spy gate arguments aren't working.
@tng150@tng150 Uh dude - do me a favor and Google this: "Don't believe the myth of Brady and Belichick" and you'll find a great Minneapolis Star Tribune article. And NE just lost another SB. Enough said.
@tng150 Dude do me a favor and Google a great Minneapolis Star Tribune article from last weekend "Don't believe the myth of Brady and Belichick." Oh yeah and didn't NE just lose their second SB since the Spygate scandal broke????
As an Eagles fan it hurts me to see Cunningham and cris Carter together as vikings! but does anyone throw a more pretty long ball than Randall cunningham? no way, not even sonny Jurgenson......too bad the Vikings defense was mediocre.
@job1785 ya i found that out watchinga nother vid, but thanks for replying....didn't the Vikings lose 49 - 0 against the Giants in 2000 NFC Championship game?
Can't stand the Vikings(hate the Bears more), but much respect for that MNF game. You flat out came in and whooped our asses. I'll never forget it. The Lambeau winning streak ended.
Fuk that Green Bay game... I was on a business trip in Anaheim, got to watch that in front of a butt-load of Packer fans... unbelievable... Cunningham was like an old grandfather clock... he'd just wind up and wail it downfield... was going to happen... you couldn't stop it.
That Monday night game in Green Bay is what made me bleed purple. Growing up in St. Paul, I cared very little for football in general before that night. I was 19 attending college in River Falls WI. My friends made me choose a side, and I've been enamored with the Vikings, despite all of the heartache, ever since.
I'm a Falcons fan, and was in pure ecstasy when we knocked off the Vikings! It was one of the greatest upsets in NFL history! However, I will acknowledge that if we played this Vikings team 5 times, we would lose 4 out of 5. On that day, was the 1 time we were able to pull it off. This was an incredible team!! The 1968 Colts, 1998 Vikings, and the 2007 Patriots are the greatest teams to never win a Super Bowl.
@dmoor21 yeah, the falcons had a great team in 1998. But being born n raised in Minnesota, i was really upset when the Vikes lost it at the end here. Oh well, The falcons were just the better team that day.
Two things really stand out about these videos. One is Denny's false "No Time for Crybabies" bravado. For all his talk, he just wasn't meant to coach at that level. Everyone talks about The Knee for good reason, but really, Green went into the Full Schottenheimer from the time Cunningham lost the fumble in the second quarter (that play should have made this vid). The other thing about these vids is John Randle's commentary -- especially the diatribe about Favre. Completely awesome!
that was the one thing that the vikings did with randall cunningham. they made him a pocket quarterback and that was the reason why the offense had a lot of success in the passing game. he was phenomenal with philly, but he ran way to much with the birds. buddy ryan relied to much on randall, that was where he would eventually tire out, and that was why the eagles always made the playoffs and lost. it was a different system with minnesota.
@psufan001 Not to mention Randall had a 1,000 yard back in Robert Smith. I doubt he ever had a back of that caliber in Philly. He had a better defense but he wasn't good enough to carry the offense when it mattered.
@landinmycourt, in the end, Randall just never had proper coaching when he was in Philly. Buddy Ryan never developed him into a passing QB. I mean, what kind of coach tells his QB to read his first option and take off if nothing's there? Cunningham had the strongest arm in the league bar none for YEARS...imagine what he could've done if he had the same kind of coaching he had in 1998.
@ZhangtheGreat Actually in 1990 he threw 30 TD's which was tops in the NFC. But in the playoffs he couldn't get his team in the endzone against The Redskins and was replaced by Jim McMahon. Plus guys like Reggie White and Seth Joyner said that he lacked leadership skills.
@psufan001 True...but this was also an OLDER Cunningham, too. It wasn't that the Vikings MADE him a pocket-Qb; it was more about his evolution. He couldn't do at 35 what he did at 25.
When Randy Moss is locked in and giving effort there's only one other receiver in history in his league, Rice, and Moss is by far the superior athlete.
If he had Rice's professionalism he would have shattered every record and would be in the discussion for best football player ever.
if he only had the professionalism of young T.O. he'd have already broken Rice's records... he wouldn't even need Rice's effort. T.O is Randy's statistical equal and he's done it with WAY less physically
They lost because their field goal kicker blew it. But I still kind of agree. I don't think they would of beaten the Broncos. I think it would of made for a more interesting Superbowl though.
@amensupremera he's only been on one team that has'nt one a superbowl, and that's the Vikings. of course everybody know the Patriots have one quite a few superbowl's. the Raiders beat the Vikings in the superbowl in 76,
@holtzpackerfan wow, I guess you schooled me. I shouldn't have to explain this but obviously I was talking about the year he was on the roster ('98 Vikings & the perfect all season but lost the Super Bowl 18-1 '07 Patriots) not the franchises as a whole. No player brags about playing for a team that won super bowls when they weren't there. For christ sake the documentary is called "missing rings"
u cant make a missing rings episode for the eagles . this series is for teams favored to win a super bowl but were unable to . The eagles were never favored to win a super bowl
dude they already made missing rings for teams that didnt make the superbowl....the eagles were favored in 3 of their 4 championship losses....thats definitly criteria for an episode or two HAHAA
i heard that Larry F. was a ball boy for the vikings back in those days and also heard that moss mentored him its pretty cool to say that the best receiver in the NFL is from my state!
