@seatcheckTV Haha, all of his lyrics are confusing, that's what I like about him. But, I think it refers to a heart that's beating fast. Which we call sometimes a 'racing heart' (which might be what he's saying) and the sensation of trying to 'swallow' it down, or push it down. Like swallowing a lump in your throat.

Basically, he's trying to suppress his emotions and keep his heart from racing.
