In 1965 the team of The Alaskan &The Beast had main event matches against The Kentuckians; the Scotts; George Becker & Johnny Weaver; Aldo Bogni & Bronco Lubich
"What a joke.Who promoted this match? Harley Race is a legend."
The Beast and Leo Burke were also legends here in the Maritimes, they were also headliners in Mid-Atlantic Wrestling, Stampede Wrestling, Amarillo Wrestling (owned by the Funks, The Beast was the Western States Title from Dory Sr. & was at least four-time Western States Tag Team Champion, twice with Leo Burke), Japan, Australia & New Zealand to name a few.
@MrBluenose70 I saw Burke in the MidAtlantic territory working for Jim Crockett, and he wasn't headlining. He was jobbing or working midcard. Mostly tag matches with an occasional shot at the MidAtlantic TV Title. As far as I know, he never held any titles in JCP but perhaps you can shed some light on that. That in no way diminishes Burke's skills or reputation, it just says Crockett didn't know what to do with him.
@clstrat939 I didn’t say they held titles in Mid-Atlantic, I said they were headliners, they also worked mid-card and lower-card, in the early seventies Leo Burke worked winters in the JCP territory as Bobby Kay, in 1973 he and Terry Kay (his brother Romeo, aka Bobby Kay in Maritimes) had main event matches against the Andersons and the team of Mike “The Judge” Dubois & Fred Sweetan.
Jobbers?,I Highly Doubt it, Legends From The Maritimes Right on Through to Stampede,& Right Down to Peurto Rico,The Bulk Of These Grapplers held The WWC Championsip,The North American Championship Belt,NWA Pacific Title,Stampede British Commonwealth,Etc.Etc...Not to mention The National Wrestling Alliance Belonging to Harley Race.Phil Lafleur one half ECW tag team/All Japan,Leo Burke Who Smacked around and kicked the piss out of Ric Flair,Dory funk,Jack bricoe & trained many of todays Champions!
Race outed by Frenchie Martin? a jobber as a wrestler and a jobber as a manager. That whole league must have been a JOBBER FARM. It is an insult to the great name of Harley Race to even be in such a DUMP of a territory.
@mgrelecki Jobbers my ass, Leo Burke, who was one of the "jobbers" as you called them was also one of the trainers at WCW's Power Plant, and even was the one who trained Ken Shamrock for pro wrestling, and also helped to train two guys you may know as EDGE AND CHRISTIAN
I think Race wore that leotard because he had a huge scare in on his stomach from 89. Looked like a surgey of some kind. You can see it clearly on Royal Rumble 89 match vs Haku.

As Leo Burke in 1986 he had co-main event matches vs. Ron Garvin including a boxing match.

If he didn't want to be there, he simply wouldn't have. Typical remark by yet another uninformed wrestling fan.

Wow talk about a dream match, two of the most rugged wrestlers ever squaring off. Wish the whole match could have been shown.
