  • BORING

  • i new a guy who,s cousin did time there before it was closed down he said the guards would routinely take prisoners out of there cells and beat them for no reason also that guards would show them sex or nude photos of women as a torture and that guards would pit one con against another con in a fight.he said at night you could here the new cons crying or screaming and guards would turn a hose on them he said guards were sadist and would inflict great pain on them for no reason

  • @maverick10241 wellremember backin the days they didnt had no rights so the guards could do whatever they want and now its different

  • @x3DD131OKST3Rx yea i agree but they sad thing is that it still goes on today in jails and prisons all across the nation, here in tn the police are trying to bring back a 100 year old law that made public hangings legal they are trying to get the new governor to sign it into law early next year ,whatever town in TN you committed your crime that's were you would be brought and hung in the public square they want to charge admission fee for people out of state to watch.

  • Man do I want 2 invesedagate there

  • If prisoners weren't allowed musical instruments, how come Frank Morris was permitted to have the concertina he played to cover up the sound of digging for his famous escape?

  • Dont tell me this I'm going to visit this weekend..and I'm already shitting my pants..

  • @rochaeduardo1 Oh, don't shit your pants! It's a very cool place! Promise!

  • @OutcastEarth it is its awesome!

  • @OutcastEarth lol

  • @rochaeduardo1 how was it?you visit to Alcatraz,tell me a highlight ..please..

  • @mantooth3245 The main cell block is usually the most popular feature, although our team members seemed to like the crumbling outlying buildings better. They were just as creepy and more photogenic.

  • @OutcastEarth wow, thats very cool ,soo is the inside kind of refurbished/refreshed from it's original state, and the outside is authentic from it's early days? Just knowing the history and being their and hearing all the stories and knowing that your in that actual location would be a real buzz..Very cool just to think about it....Is it a small island once your on it? Or is it bigger than it appears from when your looking in from the outside, because it does underground a bit dosent it?

  • @mantooth3245 I wouldn't say that anything is "refurbished." Like a lot of national parks, Alcatraz is kept in a state of arrested decay... that is to say that the NPS keeps things from falling down but they don't necessarily restore anything to a "new" state either. The island is small, but there's a lot to see so you can easily spend a day there. There are subterranean areas too, but none of our crew could remember being allowed in them. Maybe through a special or nighttime tour?

  • @rochaeduardo1 At 12:00 Am you can hear people I heard I'm going in 2012 to film a 2 hour tour

  • @ADKIc3mAnX36O Best of luck to you!... Hope you don't encounter any ghost...JK

  • Kool video! I went there in June 23rd, 2010.

  • @Sox20009 thanks much! It's an interesting place, with or without ghosts!

  • @OutcastEarth When I went to Alcatraz I felt some body is watching me and my spine tingling.

  • Actually there was. It was called Musical Hour Where the guards gave the Instruments so that the inmates could learn how to play music It was supposed to teach them something so they wouldnt do crime when they got out Al Copone was know for playing the banjo when everyone else stuck to simple instruments like clarinets and harmonicas. It was music hour that the only 3 inmates to escape Alcatraz used the noise from Musical Hour to dig through their cell walls so the guards couldnt hear them

  • @commanddoc09 They did it over months, they built up a raft of raincoats.

  • The Curse of Alcatraz

  • where is alctraz

  • @SpartanHaloGuy San Francisco Bay, California

  • sanfrancisco

  • I work there as a volunteer and I've spent several overnights in the cellhouse and I've heard a lot of strange sounds. Other staff have told me they've seen ghostly images (one was a civil war soldier, another a guard). Is it haunted? I can't say. The banjo music is a bit far fetched, imo. BYW, Capone spent the last year and a half in the prison hospital because of his mental state. Although, yes., he did practice his banjo in the basement in his early years on the island.

  • @zazozung Thanks for the info from an insider's point of view. We wish we had had a chance to be there overnight too. I bet it's a whole different experience once the sun goes down! Thanks for writing!

  • @OutcastEarth are you the guy in the red shirt and are you the one thats talking in the backround

  • @sk8rdude76 Neither. I am the webmaster for the Outcast Earth website.

  • @sk8rdude76 Neither. I am the webmaster for the Outcast Earth website.

  • @OutcastEarth sweet

  • Musical instruments were allowed, they had a music hour...

  • Wonder if anyone saw Nick Cage or Sean Connery and shat themselves?

  • LOL! We didn't see them, but that would have been very cool!

  • very nice video

  • mm luxury apartment lol no not been to Hasskell?

  • Great footage, look at prisons then, now look at them today they are fitted with SKY TV, their cells are like luxury appartments.

  • We'll have to take your word for that, 2crazyuk, as we have no direct experience with modern prisons ourselves, ha, ha! But, walking through Alcatraz you can certainly see and FEEL why it was called the tomb of the living dead! Thanks for your feedback!

  • you forgot to mention machinegun kelly..ljust so you know...5*

  • Thanks! We did forget him!

  • da othersiders went there check out the vid on baseball2k's page

  • cool

  • you forgott about George [Machinegun] Kelly

  • Okay, we finally got a ruling from the National Park Service regarding the use of musical instruments at Alcatraz. The NPS informs us that instruments were allowed... and that there was even a prison band. We stand corrected! So, when you get to the part of this video that says instruments weren't allowed, put your fingers in your ears! ;-) Outcast Earth webmaster

  • According to one park ranger, he was in one of the cell houses one morning, near the shower room, and heard the distinctive sound of banjo music coming from the room. He could not explain it --- but many who know some of the hidden history of Alcatraz can. In his last days at the prison, Al Capone often hid in the shower room with his banjo. Rather than risk going out into the prison yard, where he feared for his life thanks to his deteriorating mental state,

  • Capone received permission to stay inside and practice with his instrument.

  • SO I heard that Missy Elliot was about to raise money for the inmates at Alcatraz to have accesss to more sustainable options such as washboards and banjos that give all men and women on the island a more elevated experience overall. Could this be true? Can their be music lessons for inmates and gaurds throughout the prison? We need more attention to simple outlets for positivity and more.

  • Wow. We hadn't heard this, but then again, we are no longer in touch with Missy after an unfortunate misunderstanding we had with her in a LA night club years ago. We wish her well.

  • Very interesting footage,...but a bit inaccurate! I have visited Alcatraz abd read several books on the history,..musical instruments were in fact allowed in the prison, The playing of the instruments were part of the great escape pf 1962. Also one of the prisoners that escaped used his accordian, ( clevery converted ) as a pump to pump up the homemade raft!

I did like the old footage!

  • Thanks for this information. We hadn't actually heard that story about the accordion and the 1962 escape. A few people have contacted us to note that musical instruments were allowed in the prison, despite our sources that said otherwise. We are going to try and do some additional research on this and see if we can get a clearer understanding of the issue. Thanks for the feedback!

  • Prohibition was in force mostly during the twenties, from Jan. 1920 until December 1933.

  • that was cool

  • Thanks! Glad you liked it!

  • I just came back today from San Fransisco (I'm wearing my new Alcatraz: Psycho Ward Outpatient tee-shirt, man!) and since I didn't get to do the expensive tour this time, though disappointed, I am happy to watch this little video to get the information I long craved to know about The Rock in San Francisco.

    Thanks for posting! 5/5 stars.

  • You are very welcome. Glad you enjoyed it!

  • hey thanks so much for posting this. I just went last week and had no idea all of this stuff happened. lol i was actually in the holdiing cell now loooking back at it, it did really freak me out =(

  • Glad you enjoyed the movie and The Rock!

  • I'm going there in less than a month. I guess it's going to be a very interesting experience, I can't wait!

Has anyone been there who can tell me if it's any good? x

  • Oh, it's definitely good! The entire place is kind of in a state of "arrested decay," which offers lots of atmosphere. Make your reservations early though. It's a very popular place with tourists!

  • hey btw I was there back in september and I was standing in the wardens office near the dummy that was wearing the prison guard outfit and I was trying to take a picture of the dummy and the light above it started flickering lol kinda freaked me out

  • Do you know anything about a ghost that's supposed to inhabit the showers here?

  • We're not sure about a ghost in the showers. There is an alleged ghost haunting the laundry room named Abie Maldowitz. He was "identified" through the mutual efforts of professional psychic Sylvia Browne and an ex-inmate at the prison named Leon "Whitey" Thompson during a paranormal investigation. Thompson claimed that the spirit Browne was describing had to be Maldowitz, a former member of the notorious Murder Inc. OCE could find no record of a Abie Maldowitz ever residing at Alcatraz.

  • good video i had did one on that place very good history there

  • Thanks!

I'll use this on my project.

  • Great Video But, 2:06 is not a scene from Alcatraz, Playing Cards were not allowed

  • Video was refreshingly level headed. Thanks for uploading.

  • Thanks for the comment, nicjw! We strive to be level-headed! ;-)

  • any more on the way?

  • You bet, but unfortunately the videos are time-consuming to make and we're not full time videographers. Still, we hope to have more on a variety of paranormal subjects in the months ahead. Check back again or see our website for details! Thanks!

  • i dont think i would want to spend the night there good video

  • Thanks for the appreciation. We would agree with you, too. Nights on Alcatraz must be somewhat harrowing!

  • Thanks, DSL. We have some others in the works and hope to post them in the near future! Thanks for the support. Outcast Earth postmaster

  • That was good. No sensational nonsense. I'd like to see some more.
