I have watched this video and am not too impressed by the performance of Hemachandra. Who has a problem with that. If anybody thinks I am wrong then they are free to criticize me but no one can question my right to comment on this video. Ppl like vtrivikrama and some others have questioned my music sense but when I asked them to prove their own opinions, they had no answers. Well, this is by no means a good rendition. He has stumbled on so many points there. Incredible to read the comments made so far. This deserved a 4/10. He cleverly replaced the tricky parts of the song by using his own style. He has a Suresh Wadekar kind of texture and begins the song like that but lacks the control and range. I am not impressed one bit by this one.

And on what basis do you think that one has to know the raag in which a song has been composed in order to like or dislike the performance? When you watch a movie and are asked your opinion about it, does it depend upon whether you know the exact movie aspect ratio, the sound sync, the editing software, the name of the camera lens? I guess you would say that your opinion would depend upon how you felt watching that movie, its the same case with this song. I heard it and disliked it.

You again go down the wrong way. What is the purpose of telling me that this is an A R Rahman song? Did I say that I did not like this composition? I love this song but did not like the way Hemu sung it. Hariharan sang it very well and Hemu was not able to reach that level. And stop giving me a lecture on what is the essence of this song and what is not. It could be different things for both of us. Hemu was not able to produce the quasi-yodel that Hariharan produced. Now go figure.

Mr. Smart, I already told you that Hemu wasn't not able to produce the quasi yodel that Hariharan did in the original song and this is the major reason why I rate this song as 4/10. He simply skipped the salient point of the song. You have not been able to understand the word quasi yodel. Hemu is wrong on 2 notes in the first 5 secs and goes off in many places during the song. You need ears to make that out. Before you comment any more, please find more about quasi yodel.
