I just listened to the Caveliers' version and I wouldn't say it's so much better or more intense than this. Pearl Jam's version is great but it really sounds like a modern band covering an old song, not completely authentic. I think Pearl Jam did it very well but they didn't make it their own, as they say, probably because they aren't the band to do so. This sounds heartfelt and innocent as the character, PJ can't help but be a bit off-the-cuff.

It's the original version before J. Frank Wilson & The Cavaliers did the best version in '64. Pearl Jam's is good but The Cavaliers did it best. I love this version too, simple but not as intense as the hit version in '64.

I always dug J. Frank's version from the first time I heard it when I was about 9 in '64, 47 years ago, but never until today, did I ever hear the original by Wayne Cochran! I still prefer J. Frank's, as I think he was a slightly more talented singer, but Wayne's is great too, much superior to that repulsive Pearl Jam (a.k.a. "Jism") band`s version, with that obnoxious, overrated singer/jerk-off Vedder!

@plalelal 55% polyester, 35% nylon, and 10% rayon. This before Lycra Spandex an all the miracle fibers yall got now. They put the 10% rayon in it so he never had to git a haircut, caus when yall wash rayon, it shrank jus a lil bit. i thank he got a new un when he on tom snyder show in 1983, that un look like it got some lycra spandex in it. gotta change wid a times.
