best to use a tooth brush to clean silver jewelery .. you can get a jewelery cleaning paste from your local grocery store and it works better than tooth paste
then i mixed a little baking soda & some lemon (the bottled kind) & created a thin paste into a tray...than i dipped the same peice of jewellery into there & scrubbed again w/the toothbrush..i prefer at the end to quickly rinse in water so i doesnt feel all guey...and dry w/a soft washcloth, & voila! (p.s. don't use colored toothpaste..it stained my jewelry..but than i went over it w/white toothpaste..& it was good again..just stick w/white toothpaste!)
hey i tried this and it worked..however i did this a little different...i 1st used a toothbrush with a dab of toothpaste ( a little goes a long way!) and scrubbed it gently and wiped w/a kleenex..however if use just a kleenex to do this and not a toothbrush...it doesnt really do the job well...it will feel sticky and gross..
the best way to clean jewelry is ketchup, it leaves it shiny and brand new, try it! drop the ketchup on the item, grab a wet rag and rub it in a rough way...your welcome
Does the jewellery get sticky at all after the toothpaste? it usually has that weird residue if you get it on your hands or clothes that's kinda sticky so I was just curious
lacquered is what you mean by the clear coating. Plated is what most jewlery is, a thing layer of expensive metal ie. silver, over cheap metal such as nickel or brass. There's also solid silver or gold jewlery which is more expensive.
What toothpaste is is a fine abrasive, so you are slowly wearing down your jewlery
Can you mix the toothpaste in a water solution and put the jewelery to sit in it for a while? Also, can you rinse the jewelery afterward with water to get rid of the toothpaste smell?
in order to produce inexpensive / mass produced jewelry is commonly made by Pewter ( various mix alloys ) and the coloring on the skin is a chemical reaction from the combinations of metal towards the acidity of your body natural excretions.
Thank you for the tip, it's really helpful! BTW you can buff your sterling silver jewelry in between cleaning/polishing. The video is top quality too. Very well done!
i dono if it's just me, but i've noticed that when i have 925 sterling silver pieces, they stay shiny and silvery as long as i wear them; like as long as the jewelry touches my skin and i wash my hands etc regularly (like if its a ring or something) and if i take it off and put it on my table for like a month, only THEN will it start to tarnish!
Uhhh just buy all kind (gold, silver) jewelry cleaner o.O it's not expensive and it doesn't exactly go fast =D since they come in large bottles. ^^ lol
Awesome tip. My mom has been using toothpaste for years to clean her jewelery, and I started doing it myself, too. Works wonders. We actually use it with a soft toothbrush, and it gets in all the grooves.
Wow! I never thought of using toothpaste before...very interesting! I usually use baking soda and salt or just baking soda with water and foil. This is very cool!
:D yay!!! ^^ im so glad u tried it out and it worked!!! thats super duper ^^ youll have the sparkliest flute in your band.. andblind everyone with it ;)
im a red head but my eyebrows are like, blonde. you can hardly even see them. is there something i can do? i was thinking die them but i always heard that it was bad to do it yourself and stuff. plus, im a red head and its an odd shade. you cant even buy hair dye even close to what mine looks like.
hi!! nooo never put hair dye in your brows!! There are other solutions to darkening your brows. YOu can either shop around for a nice auburn colour pencil that suits you, or find it in a cake/powder form and apply it with a stiff brush. That way it looks most natural, and not permenant if you screw up right? :)
