Up the Galicians! Spanish musician? He's Galician.
It's like us in Brittany, the French spit on the Breton culture, killed our language, kids were slapped because they spoke Breton in school. But everytime Breton music is top of the charts (Stivell, LeRoy), then they claim it to be French ...
Up the Galicians, Up the Bretons, Up all the cultures that want to live.
See you in Lorient next year for the Interceltic Festival.
@SeamusIwerzhon In fact, I think that we, the Galicians, have more in common with you the Bretons than with the rest of Spain :) well maybe we can exempt the Asturians
@SeamusIwerzhon God bless the Bretons, Celts, Berbers and all people who fight for their freedom. We kabyle people face the same problem with the fucking Arabo-islamist Algerian Regime, who would like to make us like a Taliban Nation.
We kabyle people are secular. We are proud of our Berber identity and we'll keep fighting for freedom of choice. Fuck the dictatorial Arab regimes.
Even in Majorca, there's a type of bagpipe named xirimia. The ancient celtics arrived to Roma, at the ending of Roman imperium. So, what's so rare to find bagpipes everywhere?
@cyranoboy ... its got nothing to do with winpipes. The Celts live in central-western Europe where they build their communities and their buildings, and other traditions have been left behind, such as the music instruments, dance styles, foods, and off course their genes!! LOL
For all of you, the bagpipe as such is used in the traditional music of Galicia, Asturias, El Bierzo, León, Sanabria, Zamora and Cantabria, since time immemorial. All of these communities and provinces of Spain, because Spain is not only andalusia or olé olé, and not all are as sold out of here. Northern Spain is totally different to Spain to travel agencies.
Before talking you have to know the whole country, and distinguish the different cultures that comprise it.
Spanish¡¡¡ Why not? Galicia is Spain. And in the other place on the north of spain, there are good bagpipes, for example in Asturias. The north of Spain is Celtic Nation, too. Spain isn,t flamenco music, only.
@cherusa Aye,Galicia is one part of Spain. Then again those things can come and go.Ireland used to be part of the UK but the people from Eire can't be called 'brits' now. This is a Galician piper (tho he doesn't look like one;he's a bit of a 'rock star' rather than a proper traditional piper) and that can't be changed by politics. He plays the Galician national instrument:Gaita Galega, which isn't a Spanish instrument, only Galician.Sameway Uilleann Pipes weren't 'Brit Pipes' b4 independence
Thanks guys you are both very civilized! Not very comon in you tube! Also I would like to add that instead of beeing called spanish musician he would prefer to be called Galician musician! :)
Please, don't call "Spanish Bagpipes" to the Galician Bagpipe, "Gaita" is a general name common to Galician, Portuguese and Spanish, and its meaning is "Bagpipe", that's to say, "any kind of bagpipe". In the Iberian peninsula there are several kinds of "gaita": Asturian gaita, Galician gaita, "gaita de foles" in Portugal, "alboka" in the Basque Country, "sac de gemecs" in Catalonia...

sólo hace falta comparar por ejemplo vascos con andaluces, o gallegos con catalanes, ni punto de comparación
