It's off the subject, but... This phrase reminded me that our love for our spouse should keep us together when times get rough. We cannot rely on our emotions or our feelings. The passion can fizzle out, but sacrificial love continues. We must rely on Christ-like love, as depicted here.
Hey Jack, thank you for inviting me at this channel. Sadly I miss subscriptions at my other channel.
This is great song. I wish my guitar was as good. Well, I play like Phoebe from Friends.
It's a great reminder of what He did and how He came to that moment. Bless you for sharing this song. I don't believe I've ever heard it, though I like Card's style.
I intentionally sat on the couch because the sunlight from the window was shining on that spot, but the shadow of the cross from the window across my face was entirely serendipitous!
Thanks Annie! We can't all be great and prolific songwriters like you and sisjewell. Sometimes we just have to make other people's songs our own, and say it a little differently. Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
I read all 47 of the responses and saw your question "Did you notice the shadow of the cross?" I noticed it the first or second time I watched the video and thought it was my imagination the third time. So thanks for comfirming the Truth that is in the Cross of Our Lord Jesus Christ, inspite of all possible imaginations! Luv U*
Yes, I was quite surprised and delighted when I saw the video the first time. I noticed it right away! It certainly wasn't planned. In fact, I couldn't see a thing when I was recording it because I was blinded by the light of the sun shining through the window! There's a message in that too, I know!
You knew I would LOVE this, didn't you!!! It is just superb Jack, I've never heard this song before, but all I know is that you played SOOOOOOOOO beautifully and the lyrics are awesome, and you sang so soft and soothing, it's like nothing I've seen you do, and I REALLY like it!!!
Yeah, I was pretty sure you'd like it. I'm surprised you've never heard Michael Card sing it, though. You should check out the one he did with Sara Groves. You can find it here on YT.
Nicely done, Jack! I must say that I prefer the SLOWER arrangements of Michael Card, and especially the version that he and John Michael Talbot do on their "Brother to Brother" album. I feel like their SLOWER tempo fits the mood of the lyrics more than the FASTER tempo that you chose. But good stuff!
Yes, I think the one on Brother to Brother is my favorite version, either that one or the one he does with Sara Groves. I would never presume to think that my version was better, it's just that I wanted to bring out the intensity of emotion that wells up in me when I think of these well asked questions. I appreciate your feedback, though. Thank you for your comment. :o)
Hi Jack, I LOVED this video for several reasons: #1 It's a deep burden we all feel about the betrayal of Christ. #2 It's completely different from your other videos (LOVE the setting!) #3 Your guitar playing is AMAZING bro! Really. #4 My little ones fall asleep to this CD every night. VERY moving!!
Very nice Jack. I am familiar with this song and you did a wonderful rendition of it. 5*. And the major chord at the end with the enharmonic seems to work fine with this song. A touch of sad to joy. Also like the different setting too. GB.
It amazes me that with all the technology abounding in this world today, the sweetest sound is still a heartfelt song sung in its purest form. Great guitar accompaniment, too. Keep 'em coming, Jack. May God bless you as you continue sharing your talent with others for His glory.
My dream is to one day sing a song that will change someone's whole life, but a whole day is a step in the right direction! Thank you for your encouraging comment and for the video response.
Thank You Jack. That was a very nice song and yes, the magnitude of the death of the cross of Christ, the pain, the agony and the suffering he endured has truely stolen our hearts away in all of us who believe. Nicely done. Thank you again.
The magnitude indeed! The cross truly defines who God is. Anyone who doesn't get it really hasn't thought about it yet. The cross was our response to His love. He had already taken our guilt upon Himself at Gethsemane. If we had appreciated that, He could have died in honor!
Thanks, Phae, I knew you'd appreciate it! I thought the light shining through my living room window at just the time I was ready to record was serendipitous. Did you notice the shadow of the cross?
I don't see the shadow, but I was mesmerised by the light reflecting off your hands.
The more we accept the possibility that something greater is speaking through us, the more true it becomes. In your case, it's manifest to an astonishing degree.
Thank you for this video, Jack. The words, guitar playing and voice all work together to make this a remarkable song. thank you, again. You are truly blessed.
Had to come back again. This is not just great music that is CD worthy, it sticks in your spirit. Your voice is golden and annointed. Your skillz are devinely given. I hope you are working on a CD in order to preserve the wonderful sound you've been blessed with...before you ever retire from it all.
Well, I wasn't actually planning on putting this on a CD, but perhaps I should. I've always loved this song by Michael Card, but I have thought his arrangement lacked just a little bit of something which would have increased its impact. In my opinion, when he sings it, he answers the questions too quickly without giving the listener time to ponder, or allow it to sink in. That's what I was trying to address with this arrangement. Thank you for your affirmation!
You are welcome sir. But really...the way you are sounding in this video (and even greater in person I am most sure), it should be archived in some form. Even if it's just a demo. I would regret knowing that this window of time will pass and you not leave us a copy of your wonderful sound on a CD somewhere. people who sound this good are NOT allowed to pass through here without giving us something to put in the stereo sysem. Lol.
Beautiful! Very well sung.......
