That doesn't seem like it would be legal, assuming they are smoking where no one is around. When I smoke at work I usually go out to my car where no one is around.
I think the main concern is that cigarette smokers are CONSTANTLY taking breaks. I smoke cigars but I dont smoke them daily and dont take breaks from work to smoke. Its almost comical sometimes how many breaks some cigarette smokers take. I wouldnt doubt it if that is one of the main reasons.
Are debt based monetary system is the cause off most off are economic problems. Also that fact that all money is generated by a privately owned bank. That being said, it surprises me they would try to make a new currency as the Constitution explicitly forbids it. If every state had it own currency it would lead to trade wars between the states and a weaker nation overall; and the founding fathers knew this. If interested in money, Search Google videos for Money Is Debt.
Are companies testing for nicotine in particular? I personally smoke a blend of mints and camomile, so that kind of thing wouldn't show up on a test, I would expect...
Breaking off from the Zionist banking cartel is actually a good move, it is the first step towards regeneration and independence. I wish our folks had only half the guts you South Carolina folks have. Old Hickory would've been proud.
I remember from the lyceum years, the proffessors were watching the students' fingers to check if they were yellow brown from cigarette smoking. If so, they might give a period of detension to smoker students. But there was the era which long hair was forbidden at the school. I, and some friends of mine were cleaning their fingers with clorine, and used deodorant sprays. To day things have changed :) If you are very good in what's you do, the boss want you at his job even as a smoker :)
When you say that you can't work some place because you're a smoker even if you don't smoke anywhere near work, you basically label your state and/or country as communist
What about alcohol, if you are a drinker, which is legal if your over 21 in the US, is that grounds for termination. I'm not talking about drinking on the job but if you had a drink the night before and they test you and find alcohol in you system. Tobacco is not an illegal drug if you are over 18. In my opinion that is a violation of civil rights. I know plenty of Doctors even who smoke pipe or cigarettes. Jobs are also now checking your credit background as well and that is wrong too.
There's a hospital here that will tell an employee to go home and change their clothes if they're covered with tobacco smoke when coming to work. This policy is unfair to non-smokers, as well, because the non-smoker might hitch a ride with a smoker, be covered with smoke, and be told to go home and change clothes. Also, non-smokers could be found nicotine-positive on a urine test if they live and/or party with smokers, due to 2nd-hand smoke.
I am a diabetic. We are not allowed jobs as well. I do understand some of them , truck driving, but I can be a cop with a gun??? If our sugars get too low we can pass out .. Hell I start getting real funny and then pass out.. Act like I drunk?? Just thought I would post this!!!
What I don't understand is that just because someone is a smoker, doesn't mean that they're gonna be smoking on the job...what validity does such an inspection have unless it's actively preventing a co-worker from doing their job? -_-
the owner of the new restaurant i cook at absolutely loathes smokers, whenever he's there it's a no smoking time. granted i smoke cigarettes at work b/c it's quicker than a pipe but I don't like how we're cut off just because he doesn't like them...people smoke, it's what we do.. i guess i can justify it every Friday when i cash my larger than average check.
I work in a hospital myself. Many people i work with and I would be outraged by this!! Hopefully, our union would fight this tooth and nail. I agree with you that being obese is far more dangerous and I work with a lot of obese nurses and doctors. Politicians disgust me.
This is probably big because many companies provide health benefits to their employees, and as smoking endangers your health, they run into higher insurance costs. And besides, I think it's a bit more concerning to have alcoholics/martini-lunch assholes or people who come to the office retarded on whatever drugs. Don't hear much about those guys getting bounced, but then again I'm in Canada...other countries' companies have standards
F'em I'd find another place to work. Many states are now trying to create their own currencies in an attempt hedge against the fed printing exorbitant amounts new money (causing monetary devaluation). Having a currency based on actual value could help to create jobs in the end. Though it is not the governments job to create jobs, it is the markets. Only need (i.e. demand) can create jobs, not force (i.e. government).
I am a pipe smoker in Tennessee, and I'm 19, and almost an RN. All the hospitals around here do that. I am appalled, as an American citizen, that I am losing that right. I just, I just don't know what to say....
I'm a Medical Technologist (I do all the lab tests the doctor orders) and if my hospital were to try this yahooo... there would be MAJOR problems. First of all they couldn't do it because our unions wouldn't allow it. That is ridiculous!
As for the SC new currency. . .didn't the supreme court rule on the closure of state currency, iunno 170 years ago? Federal government is control over interstate commerce and exchange rates, what's to stop them from making the SC rate 1000 to 1 USD?
Furthermore, if you replace the word "smoking" with any other (legal) definition of a person it is called discrimination. This should be ruled on by the Supreme Court in the coming decades, but then again. . .our government is becoming unwieldly.
hey've been doing this for many years, without the urine testing of course. I've been docked pay for smoking at work, and refused a job for it before as well (both fast food jobs)
I've heard some people say that smoking diminishes your appetite for eating food and might therefore discourage obesity. What do you think ? On the subject of an independent currency, some of us here in the UK are very glad our Pound is free from the European Euro which recently nearly collapsed in Greece and Ireland. South Carolina should perhaps try leaving the Dollar ?
It sounds like a slippery slope to me. What if I regularly eat fast food? I'd also be costing more in health insurance claims for my employer in the long run. What if I don't exercise? Or what if I have unprotected sex? This is just one of those things that is too intrusive.
Being born is a danger to health. You covered so much here, and ditto it all on this post. We're a bunch of spineless, nosy wimps, afraid of everything. When are they going to start testing for lead-foot on the accelorator too? Egypt may end up less fundamentalist than us if all goes well. All the best to them!
I wish I could've had the chance to work in the 40's or 50's. No, self expression and rights were definitely crappy back then, but you could get a job, hold it, and earn some honest pay. Now everyone I know is working 2 jobs, including myself, and with the ever changing society, companies seem like they're applying as many regulations as a Swiss bank >.<
Yes, it is very disturbing, and I'd be disturbed even if I were a nonsmoker. The precedent is extremely dangerous. Companies trying to own your private life out of your working hours when doing legal things is worrisome. What next? When I see things like that, I can't help but think how Sept. 11 terrorists were wildly successful in their goals. They won. They disrupted U.S. core values. Amazing how Americans now find it normal to have their freedom taken away bit by bit and don't fight back.
It's discusting how smoker's are treated in America today. I think smoking should be discourged from smoking, but that shouldn't mean to have all smoker's demenized.
I get the excuses and everything but shouldn't hospitals hire surgeons and doctors based on their skills rather than personal lifestyle. I'd rather have a great doctor performing I don't know brain or heart surgery who's a smoker than a less qualified one who doesn't smoke or isn't obese.
I wonder when they'll start testing lard-ass porkers for soda pop and Snickers? That's a serious problem weighing down the nation. Not only is all that excess weight an expensive health hazard draining our health care resources, but think of all the extra fuel it takes to transport those fat folks around by car, bus, plane, train, etc. If Americans weren't so damned fat, we might be able to achieve energy independence. LOL! They're taking the non-smoking thing too far.
About eight years ago, shortly before I left the medical field here in Tennessee there was talk about all hospitals becoming smoke-free.
That meant all hospital employees had to quit smoking or lose their jobs. Any new prospective hires would be tested for nicotine...positive result = no hire.
I don't know how many hospitals are smoke-free, but in my area of the state most are.
You know, SC thinking about creating their own currency is not necessarily a bad thing, especially for unemployment. If hyperinflation were to kick in, then the use for the dollar will evaporate - it will not have any value to buy anything and people don't wanna accept it as money. If SC has an acceptable type of currency - that has some value on the market - to fall back on, then people in SC can still perform transactions from day to day. That could be a good thing... :P
Smoker's persecution is getting insane. Some day they will want to tattoo a big S, for smoker, in our foreheads and just cast us aside. We should react while there's still enough of us (and I keep thinking pipe smokers should not try to distanciate themselves from cigarette smokers but fight together, although enhancing the differences between distinct forms of tobacco comsumption).
I just smoked a pipe and had problems with re-lighting, I think I packed it wrong. Could you make a video about how you pack your pipe? Or is there one.
I wonder if this will affect EMT's at all. Because I'm currently in the EMT program at my college, But I am also a pipe smoker. And 3/4ths of the people in my class smoke cigarettes, So I wonder how we will be affected.
Also, Where would you recommend buying a large bowled pipe? All I have are pipes with, what I would consider to be, average sized bowls. And watching your videos has made me want to try a larger one. Would you recommend a certain brand/maker to start with?
The police state that the USA has long been is just pecking away at another [legal] individual freedom. I'll add this to my ever-lengthening list of reasons that I'm a permanent ex-pat.
